Don't talk about it much but when I was in the 5th grade my father had a nervous breakdown(thought mom was having an affair) and I spent the better part of 6 hours experiencing him fighting with his demons and going back and forth between madness and loving.My mom actually credits me for saving her life that night and shortly before we escaped my father was coming at me with a hammer.
Much more to the story but it's the closest brush to madness I've ever had and ever want to have.BTW,father got plenty of professional help,found God and is remarried now for 30 years and doing well.
