We can be mad we were wrong but the market is the market. A lot of teams evaluated Sneed’s tape and determined he either A) wasn’t worth his contract asking price or B) wasn’t worth that + pick compensation above whatever the Chiefs get.
We don’t gain just picks from this deal. It’s $19.2m in cap space. And we need it right now, like it or not.

And Veach has the choice to flip the market the bird and keep Sneed for one more season. 19 million for a top line CB is fair value, any threat of a holdout on his end is laughable at best, and looking through the 2025 free agents there really aren't any names that stick out that the Chiefs would be on. By that point we'd be firmly into using cap to retain our own talent. The offset wouldn't apply to cap casualties either, unless they've changed that aspects and I've completely missed it. It's just for players that have played out their contracts and are hitting the open market
