But the Picard/Riker conflict bothered me too. The Roddenberry no-conflict rule is sort of ridiculous, but it did force the writers back on TNG to be more creative than having the main characters yell at each other. Especially since their positions seem backward, you'd expect Riker to want to attack and Picard to be more careful. Maybe that's the intention, to show that the characters have changed?
But the thing that bothered me the most was Riker's line at the end, "you've killed us all". I think I physically cringed. It was inappropriately vitriolic, unfair and waaaaaaay out of character.
Just started watching season 3. We're 4 episodes in now. I purposely waited so that we could just bike the whole thing.
Yeah, that Riker line to Picard was cringe. And it pissed me off more than anything.
