I know all Bond movies have a high tech gadget that needs to be overcome however I don't like the idea of the no win scenario. Also, the bionic eye was a bit cheesy. I guess Bond just isn't destined to ever be happy and settle down (not that it would be settling...)

I agree on both counts.

It's hard to buy this particular "no win" scenario because Bond beats the odds a dozen times in every movie. Another problem is that he just accepts that the nanobots can never be removed. How many insane sci-fi gadgets have we seen in this franchise? Countless. But these nanobots are something that will never ever ever be able to be removed? And, as I mentioned before, Bond has been without his wife for 5 years already and didn't know for sure that the little girl was his until after he had accepted his death so his decision to just give up isn't plausible to me.


The electronic eye is also lame. In a world with miniature cameras it doesn't make a lick of sense. Especially when you have three guys carrying it around on a pillow at a party! Ultimately, it's only real purpose was to give Bond a gadget kill at the end. They should have given Cyclops the ability to shoot laser beams out if it or something. As Kano from Mortal Kombat once observed "Ahhh laser beams! Better than fireballs, ya pussy."

The bottom line is that the writing in this franchise, from the books, to Dr. No, to No Time to Die, is complete shit. Some of the movies are fun enough that you can overlook the terrible writing and frequently poor direction, but most if the time you end up with crap.

Casino Royale is the only genuinely good movie of the entire series, and even it has some issues.
