That defense had 20+ hits on Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game that year. Aaron Rodgers played 4 quarters against that D and only had 77 yards passing. The Panthers were 17-1 and were averaging 40 points per game in the playoffs and in the Super Bowl Denver held them to 10 points.
They may not have some of the stats in their favor but any defense that can carry an inept offense to a Super Bowl win is automatically among the best defenses of all time.
