Ultimately, it’s on the vet to pitch better. But as soon as they got Frazier up there with runners on first and third, he (Matheny) should have known better. Frazier was seeing Minor real well tonight (2 walks), is a veteran with good power and has the advantage against lefty in seeing the ball out of his hand.
Matheny managed with his heart, instead of his head, and it cost them 2 more runs. I mean, maybe they get one anyway with a runner on 3rd (sac fly or something), but strategically, it was a dumb move to not make the change.
Everything screamed bring in a power righty out of the bullpen there.
Minor didn’t pitch well that inning, but Matheny ****ed up.
