The idiots running the stadium put sod in a day or two before the very first use. Hybrid grass takes about 15 days to take root. Without a foundation the resod will be total shit. It's not their first rodeo. They constantly resodded for soccer and the field was total shit and players constantly complained about it. Then the field went to total shit soon after which isn't supposed to happen. The field was in shitty shitty condition and it was made a lot worse by stupidly planning a huge concert right before the Rams chiefs game. Mexico could have put a lousy but passable turf in time for the game but the players and the players union nixed it.
The players pressured the NFL to move it, not the other way around. That is totally ridiculous to think the NFL would want to cancel that kind of major international spectacle unless they absolutely had to.
