But it's like saying "Mike Trout has had the most incredible start to a career of any player in baseball history through age 27 so he's clearly going to be the best player of all time!"

Okay...well we know through age 27 he's not OUT of that conversation, which puts him in a group of about 2 dozen people in baseball history. So already he's in select company to be sure.

But Babe Ruth was making All Star games at 39 and at 36 led the league in HRs for the 12 time in 14 years. Hank Aaron hit 40 bombs at age at 39 yrs old. Willie Mays was still a superstar at 40.

When you're talking about the GOAT conversation and that sort of rarefied air, you realize that it's not a guy's first 10 years in the league that get them there. It's usually their LAST 10 years in the league. It's sustained excellence.

For peak I'm absolutely comfortable saying that Mahomes will reach heights unmatched but for true GOAT status, you can't get there until you're still kicking ass into your mid-late 30s.
