He was very good in Newhart.

It's interesting that he knew Tom Hanks back when Tom Hanks was just another run of the mill cross dresser.

Bosom Buddies had one of the greatest intro songs eva!

He and Julia Duffy made perfect yuppies.

If I remember right, he didn't start out on that show. There was a very different character who ran the restaurant next door, and he ended up being written out. I think they brought Scolari in at the same time.

Now that I think about it, Julia Duffy was also a replacement. There was another maid character before her who was attractive, but didn't seem all that interesting. So they canned her and brought in Duffy as the spoiled rich girl, and she rocked that.

I bet Duffy is actually the reason that Scolari's character was brought in. They worked really well together.

That was really a good show.

Watching Bosom Buddies is one of my earliest memories. RIP

Everybody was really good in Newhart, but that is where I really got to know Scolari.

I guess that explains why it's never on. Didn't make the syndication cut.

Anyway, RIP. He was basically to Tom Hanks what Clint Howard is to Ron Howard.

I'm sure the show itself, and the star in particular won't gain many co-signers to this, but his role along with Becky Anne Baker as Hannah's parents on Girls was a genuine hoot, often the best parts of the show.

Also, and it nearly slipped my mind. . . he had been a fixture as a clergyman on Evil which just had it's season finale last week.

JohnnyHammersticks 10-22-2021 07:22 PM

Never seen, or heard of him before now. RIP

Bosom Buddies had the insanely hot Donna Dixon.
