Anyone ever change the drain pump on the washing machine?

Looks like I'll be doing this in a few days when the part shows up. Washer stopped draining, flashed the OE error. Repair places want 300 for the job when it's a 45 dollar part so **** it I'll do it myself.

Your wife has a drain pump?

Good luck and have fun ! Damn appliances, are refrigerator quit a couple days ago repairman said it would be 600.00 for new compressor. Decided to buy a new one rather than spend that much on a ten yr old fridge, like to have had a heart attack when I learned the price of new one

You’re a good man.
I’d buy a new washer and avoid the hassle.
That shit gets me in trouble.
Good luck.

YouTube should have plenty of videos on it.

My washer is a LG front loader..it's like 5 years old, it's a hassle but I'm not tossing a 700 dollar washer 5 years in.

1st try taking the electronic panel out and tapping on it, i know it sounds stupid, but ive got the same washer and thats all i do when codes come up.
theres videos about it on you tube, probably isnt the pump at all

You will learn the wrath of the spring clamp. Buy a pair of these and thank me later.

Did one on our LG last year. Took maybe 30 minutes.

Quit wasting so much money on LG washers.

I thought everyone on CP made 6 figures? Buy Speed Queen.

On a more serious note, they aren't that bad to change on most I've encountered. It's usually more of a pain in the ass to get the shell back on and aligned...

I youtubed mine and had it done in 30 minutes. I could probably do the next one in 20, now that I've done it.

if it's a standard top loading Maytag/Kenmore, etc. They are pretty simple. The hardest part is making sure you don't cut yourself on the sharp metal around the motor. Oh wait, that was the coupler. Pump is easy on a top loader, the hardest part is getting the cover lined up when you are putting it back together. A couple of spring clamps hold it onto the motor.

Absolutely not

Yep...one of the easier repairs I've done. YouTube is your friend.

KC_Lee 05-06-2021 08:10 PM

I'll echo a few posters and say YouTube is your friend for this type of job. I replaced a drain pump a few years back and did it all with the help of YouTube vids.

One thing to be wary of; when I got the initial replacement pump the wiring connection was opposite from my model. I took it back to the parts dealer and he had it replaced, even got the replacement shipped next day air. This may not effect you but wanted to share my story.
