To be fair, Fincher was stretching himself thin around the end of the last season, then they just about seemed ready to wind back up around the time WuFlu popped up.

I'd rather they took a breath and did it right than try to cobble something together in the midst of protocols and all that. Particularly since they get so much out being meticulous.

Part of that, though, iirc, was due to Netflix asking Fincher to make new content.
