What does the score mean?

I had like a 12 day stretch going and it reset, so now I'm at two. Got today's in three attempts.

You get 6 tries. "4/6" for example would mean you got it on the 4th try.

Ah, okay. And what is the score on the left? Something based on how common the letters are, like Scrabble? Or how common the word is?

I believe it's the game number.

It's a once a day game, so it appears to have been going for 226 days.

It's like that game show Lingo. Random 5 letter word that you have to guess every day. Letters turn green if they are in the right spot, yellow if its the right letter wrong spot. Grey if it's not in the word.

It's basically Lingo from Game Show Network, right?

I was a 3 today. PBJ

And the updates are stupid... no "play with me!" or ever any comments guessing words or whatever. Just the cryptic numbers and squares that no one "likes" or comments on, ans with no easy way to block the shit.

Easy solution - delete Facebook. I did about 6 months ago and haven't looked back.

Be sure to include who all you're starting in your fantasy league and how many points you need as well with these updates.

I got it after 3 tries. I was kind of surprised. I didn't think it would be that. It was my first time so I didn't know what to expect.

They're really trying hard to seal the deal on that.... their app is atrocious with the number of ads and other shit I never want to see, and none of the 'hide' things ever work.

The desktop site is still okay though (with an ad blocker and custom blocker), and it helps stay connected to family/friends who are 1200+ miles away.


I clicked the OP link.... it's something to do, I guess. Seems like it would wear out quickly as you used the same words over and over to get the most bang for the buck in the early guesses.

I got 3/6 today. I got pretty lucky on my first guess that a significant letter was yellow.

I just found out what this game was all about via this thread and I spent a little bit too much time afterwards coming up with some good starter words.

Use these three words:
steal
mound
prick

I use those three all the time. It gets all your vowels and the most common consonants. If you just wanted to start with two words, I would go with steal and round....

I've been starting with "arose"

That is a good one. Apparently, mathematically, the best starting word is roate.

But like I said, I just automatically plug in those three words I listed and you can pretty much figure out the word on the next try.

I just started playing and was able to solve yesterday's and today's done in two.
Tuesday's word took me 4 tries

So apparently there is a "hard" mode that requires you to use any discovered letters in subsequent guesses. That's actually the way I've always played it. So your way, you always enter the same 3 words first making it impossible to solve in less than 4 tries? Unless of course one of the first 3 words is the answer.

Why would you not want to use any discovered letters in subsequent guesses?

To increase your chances of discovering more letters I suppose. I think that is the gist of what Fat Elvis was saying.

You use those 3 words first and chances are, you will have discovered 4 or 5 of the letters in the answer and then you have 3 chances to get the right word.

TREAD is a good starting word I've found.

It isn't just about discovering more letters; it is also about eliminating huge chunks of words that use common letters. Words that use primarily high frequency letters typically have more potential combinations of how those letters fit together. After those three words, there are only 11 letters in the alphabet that haven't been guessed, and since they aren't used in very many words, relatively speaking, it is pretty easy to guess the word. So my strategy results in one of two outcomes: either I've uncovered a lot of high frequency letters making it easy to guess the word, or I know the word contains low frequency letters thus limiting the number of potential solutions-again making the word easy to guess.

I was thinking the same thing. Some of the word choices are so obscure.
