There was a lot of insomnia in 1939, but zzzquil hadn't been invented yet. So Gone With The Wind was prescribed a lot.

It was one of the first major studio movies in color. Had a major hit playing 20 times a day on the radio. Wasn't a pleasant time in America. The movie was pure escapist entertainment in its day.


BTW, Avengers passes $2 Billion globally in 11 days.
