Otis Taylor

The best WR the Chiefs have ever had was Otis Taylor yet another great HBCUer (Pairie View), and with Lynn Swann in the Hall of Fame, why isn't Taylor?

Like Swann he had that big SB play.

Taylor

Receptions...410
Yards....7306
TD's...57
Four 800yard plus season, two over 1000 yards.

Swann

336
5462
51
Two 800yard plus seasons, never had a 1000 yard season.

So why is Swann in the HOF and Taylor is not?

I get bragging about the Riders is a no no here here but Cliff Branch has better numbers than Taylor and far superior to Swann why isn't he in the HOF?

I hadn't thought of HOFer John Stallworth until right now, curious how he stacks up vs Taylor. Be right back.

Stallworth has the numbers no need to list them, he belongs in the HOF.

Otis Taylor the first big fast physical WR.

I've been screaming for Otis for 20 years. The HOF is supposed to induct a bunch of AFL guys next year, and hopefully he'll be one of them. Induct him before he checks out.

I can't think of a WR before him that had that size/physicality/speed that he possesed, he was unique. And so smooth striding for a guy that size.

There is no way Lynn Swann belongs in the HOF to begin with and definately not ahead of Otis Taylor.

I'd like to see Cookie Gilchrist in the HOF, but can see why he isn't there, too few years of production. Imagine a 250 RB (fb) in the early 60's with speed, the first AFL 1000 yard rusher.

So what's your take on Otis Taylor?

Ubeja Vontell 09-10-2019 12:25 PM

Abner Haynes scored 62 TD's in his pro career, Floyd Little 52. Haynes had a gaudy 4.5 avg per carry, Little a weak 3.9. Haynes a stud kick returner scoring on both a punt and KO return. He was the first "star" player in the AFL.

A legit debate is why Little is in the HOF and Haynes isn't. No neither should be but if Little is in then why not Haynes?

It's a crime that Otis Taylor and Cliff Branch aren't in the HOF. Both guys were far better players than candy ass Lynn Swan.

Little is in because some jack hole decided there weren't enough Donks in the HOF. He has nothing that indicates a HOF career, or evenyear.

Gilchrist was Earl Campbell before Earl Campbell. Chiefs guard Ed Budde and Tackle Jim Tyrer deserve consideration too. Tyrer would probably be in had he not blown his wife away then turned the gun on himself with both of his kids in the house. He may have been a case of CTE before anybody knew what that was.

Anti-AFL bias.

Otis Taylor should be in the HOF.

Deberg_1990 09-10-2019 04:20 PM

Lynn Swann is in the Hall because of a few highlight reel catches in the Super Bowl.

Kman34 09-10-2019 04:21 PM

Yes ,he deserves to be in.. yes ,this has been discussed here at length before....
