Chiefs believe Fenton's knee will be fine

The Kansas City Chiefs watched Rashad Fenton suffer a knee injury in Week 11 against the Dallas Cowboys late in the game on Sunday. Fortunately, the team now believes that Fenton will be fine, per a report from FanSided’s Matt Verderame.

‘Fenton first went down late in the team’s 19-9 win over Dallas at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday evening and needed to crawl off the field just to make it to the sideline. From there, he was attended to by the team’s medical staff and was scheduled for an MRI on Monday. However, Verderame says he’s been told by a source that the team isn’t worried, noting they “think he’s fine.”

The good news is that if Fenton just needs rest overall, he has the next week off completely before having to return to Arrowhead to prepare for the team’s upcoming game against the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs have some easier games coming up against Denver twice and the Raiders again, which could be good weeks for Fenton to rest if needed as well. However it sounds as if fears were unfounded.

Fenton has grown into a well-rounded cornerback in his three years with the Chiefs. The former sixth-round pick out of South Carolina came into the league with a tough task of even making the active roster and looked like a special teams play at best. From there, however, he earned instant playing time as a depth corner in subpackages and grew into a reliable performer on the boundary or inside in the slot.

In 10 games (and six starts) so far in 2021, Fenton has 33 total tackles to go with a forced fumble and 5 pass deflections.

Excellent. It’s all coming together.

Glad we've got a bye this week.

It shows how far along he has come where fans now care about his status. I jumped the gun a year early as he was my pick last year as the breakout Chief.

Great find by the scouts.

That's a huge relief. He's a big factor in this defense.
