Pro Day Updates

Thought this was a good place to put this stuff.

Eric Stokes CB Georgia. 6’1” and has excellent speed

Not buying that 40 time. I honestly don’t trust any of these times. No combine sucks.

Also, Stokes is more of a zone guy, so I don’t think he’s a fit either way.

The Franchise 03-06-2021 02:43 PM

Bet we’re going to see a lot of bullshit 4.3s this year.

louie aguiar 03-06-2021 02:43 PM

Is that a sports bra?

Yup. Apparently some bullshit 4.2s too.

Can't draft a dude that wears a sports bra.

Dude remember Cameron Dantzler last year? Dude was talking all kinds of smack about his speed and then ran a 4.64 at the combine. Then he ran a “reported” 4.38 at his pro day LMAO

I think that kid is fast (not this fast but legit) but damn are GM’s gonna have to look at the tape this year more than ever.

I was wondering about that and it’s apparently new tech used to get analytics bc the watches aren’t good enough at tracking that and they need something closer to the midsection. I think it helps track movement better to give a better 40 time than just holding a stopwatch.

I wonder if guys will be wearing shit like this this year due to no combine. Looks like it’s used in soccer. Still looks pretty gay

Chris Meck 03-06-2021 05:14 PM

Let's just get Tyreek his covid shots and send him around to race these guys in their 40. We can sell tickets for charity.

Then we'll know who's bullshit.

Wilson8 03-07-2021 06:08 PM

Looked like that was running on grass too.

Stokes is fast. He ran so fast the camera was unable to follow him.

Not that it really means anything, but at the regular NFL combine, he would have been called back because he did not pause with the raising of his arm before he started.

RunKC 03-10-2021 12:22 PM

I don't think you're that far on the outside. I would too. There's other players I'd take first but if it comes down to certain options, he'd be at or near the top of the list.

I love Powell. He does everything well but isn’t spectacular at much. He’s a nightmare to bring down, though. He and Amari Rodgers ran in the mid 4.4’s today. They’re thick dudes. I’d be happy to see both of them in KC.

"C'mon without, c'mon within, you ain't seen nothin like The Mighty Quinn." From the 1989 movie "The Mighty Quinn" starring Denzel Washington and Robert Townsend. Had some great reggae tunes including "The Mighty Quinn". I did some research and found "The Mighty Quinn" was written by Bob Dylan.

The Mighty Quinn is perhaps the one single player I want most out of this draft.

Considering he did the same thing at senior day against some day 1-2 prospects, no.

There are aspects to his game that I think are being overlooked because of it and what he did at the senior bowl. He bends over at the waist and lunges far more often than you want and his hands get wide a lot. That said, he's a beast and his issues are correctable. And well, his results speak volumes.

RunKC 03-15-2021 08:38 AM

This guy is not going to be there in our 2nd . Just stop with that fantasy. A 6’5” 320 lb OL putting number like this up isn’t making it out of the top 50 at worst. Most likely top 40.

Expected by everyone. He was running near Olympic speed in high school in the 100 m (10.07).

The kid can burn but he lacks alot in the actual receiving department... routes, tracking, hands...

Worth it as a developmental guy on day 3, but I'm sure some team will overdraft the hell out of him.

Spencer Brown just increased his draft stock.

staylor26 03-23-2021 08:08 AM

Love Brown. I think he’s a very underrated T prospect.

Yet another guy that we can possibly get at 63 if all the T’s are gone at 31.

Emerson Smith is intriguing as well.

htismaqe 03-23-2021 08:10 AM

There was some talk that Brown might be an NFL right tackle.

Given his measurable, he may still end up at RT but somebody is most certainly going to try him at LT.

Yeah. That stop-start/agility/speed does not scream RT, even though his size might.

Looks to me like a guy who could make it work on the left side.

Jesus. Brown's numbers are eye-popping.

staylor26 03-23-2021 09:01 AM

This is why I laugh when somebody like RunKC tells me that we can’t get a LT at 63.

Little
Hudson
Smith
Radunz
Brown

There’s going to be plenty of talent available in the 2nd if all of the 1st round guys are gone at 31. If you want to go up and get one, it isn’t nearly as expensive as doing it in the 1st either.

I’m open to just about anything. Trade up for Cosmi or Jenkins, stay at 31 and take a guy like Eichenberg or Mayfield, trade down and take Little, or trade up for one of those guys in the 2nd.

I just don’t agree with the crowd that says we have to take a LT in the 1at or trade up.

And I still hope Veach trades up for the one that he wants in the 2nd.

Terrace Marshall in the first and one of those OTs in the 2nd? We’re good.

There are some real athletic freaks in this draft. Time for this elite coaching staff to earn their money and develop some gems.

I edited to include a trade up.

I’m open to anything and everything. I just don’t like the idea of forcing things.

Chris Meck 03-23-2021 09:15 AM

Brown at 6'8", with that wingspan and those agility numbers?

Damn.

I'd try that kid at LT. By all accounts he's a high football IQ guy too. That seems like exactly the kind of guy we should be looking at.

I don't watch a lot of UNI football (because even here in Iowa they're not on TV a lot) but from reading his clippings, it seems the RT thing was more about his tape than anything else.

But with those measurables, he's going to be a LT in the NFL for someone.

Exactly.

The only real move that I'm not down with is trading up like 20 spots in the first. Everything else is on the table for me.

I would TOTALLY pick up Okung or Villanueva and then draft Brown at #63 and feel real good about where we were.

I’m not convinced Brown is anything but a G or RT. Many have said the same thing about Mayfield.

As much as people on Twitter like Eichenberg, I don’t like his pass pro. He seems like a fit for a run first team like SF. Radunz is this years Ezra Cleveland, who looked like a LT but clearly was not viewed primarily as such by the team that drafted him.

Ideally we get our LT early bc at 63 there won’t be anything left but developmental question marks.

We need a LT. If there’s one we like at 31 or within reason to not give up a ton (Cosmi) then go get that guy.

That’s what I love about Veach. He’s not going to sit on his hands like King Carl did. He knows that LT is the 2nd most important position on the team only to the $500 million man he needs to protect.

I don’t see Veach “waiting” until 63 for scraps of a really good OL class. IMO the 2nd tier OT range is where he will strike

what? With all of those measurables and agility? Why in the hell would you come to that conclusion? Dude just killed his pro day with agility scores that are elite. 6'8", played at 320, 34" arms, with elite agility, and you think he's 'just a guard'.

smh.

He’s very desperate to push his narrative that the Chiefs have to take a LT in the 1st and they probably have to trade up.

Don’t be fooled by pro days this year dude. They are on surfaces that fit running and a lot of them outdoors with the wind at their back. Its also not electrically timed. It’s not like the combine. At all.

Last year was a perfect example. Cameron Dantzler said he would run a sub 4.3. At the combine he ran a horrid 4.64. Then not even 1 month later he ran a 4.38 at his pro day? LMAO

Take these times with a grain of salt.

We already know Brown is a great athlete though. The numbers just confirm it, even if they are a little exaggerated.

That’s a lie.

I would like to take one at 31 or move up if one like Cosmi is there at 25 and can be had for a reasonable deal. I’m good with trading back in the early 2nd rd loading up on picks and taking a LT in the late 30’s.

I would like to trade up in round 2 from 63 if they don’t take one with their first pick.

What I don’t want to do is sit on our dicks and just wait for scraps at 63. And I don’t think Veach does that based on what we’ve seen from him

You literally argued against this with me before though.

I never said the Chiefs should stay at 63 and wait for a LT to fall to them. I’ve been open to anything from trading up in the 1st to trading up in the 2nd. I also don’t think it’s out of the question that they can get a good T prospect at 63 (should they add a vet like Okung).

Mizzou's pro day was yesterday:

The good: Tyree Gillespie (S) ran a 4.38. He is an average-sized safety but is versatile and fast. He also hits hard. Interesting 3-4 round guy.

The bad: Nick Bolton measured small (but with longer-arms) and ran a 4.6. He really is a guy who needs to play inside in the NFL and will struggle to match up with speed (RB) or size (TE) in coverage.

RunKC 03-23-2021 03:06 PM

Rondale Moore measured in at 5’7”? Damn what is it with these tiny receivers?
