I have no idea what I just saw.

But near as I can tell this is Karl Urban trolling and occasionally physically assaulting a bunch of degenerate superheros.

**** yes I am watching this. I'm not gonna say it moved or anything but...it moved. That looks awesome. Especially the part where that chick with great cans appeared to use her thighs to crush a dudes skull mid-orgasm. I mean c'mon, who among us hasn't been at least a little worried about such a possibility at some point in our lives?

Boy, I really misinterpreted that scene - I thought it was the superhero on the bottom, and sucked the chick's guts out through her snatch. LMAO

I'm not thinking either of us is in the position to tell the other one he's wrong on this one.

But I like my version better...

I just rewatched it. Pretty sure you got it right.

Both scenarios are nasty, but I'm a bit concerned that my interpretation might be a cry for help. :D

007 07-26-2019 10:45 PM

This series has been great.

Miles 07-27-2019 01:32 AM

On third episode and had intended to crash early after a long day at work. One thing that is cracking me up and wasn’t sure it was a new amazon thing is the warnings before each episode of bad stuff like nudity, graphic violence, etc.

Otter 07-27-2019 07:49 AM

I saw this on Amazon Prime last night while poking around. I'm going to have to check it out.

bowener 07-27-2019 12:42 PM

3 episodes in and it is pretty ****ing fun to watch.

keg in kc 07-27-2019 12:48 PM

Finished it this morning.

General thoughts:

It wasn't great, it felt like it was missing...something. Not sure what. But it wasn't bad. I mean shit, I watched the whole thing in a day.
Karl Urban was great.
The girl who played Starlight Is freaking gorgeous.
I don't like gore. At all. But the ultraviolent stuff was limited and not gratuitous. It didn't bother me.
I'd be fine if there wasn't a second season but I kinda want to see where it goes.

crayzkirk 07-27-2019 01:38 PM

Watched a few episodes... I like Urban, Shoe is a great fit as a corrupt head of the organization. Still waiting for some nudity other than a couple of guys butts.

Seems that a second season has already been green lighted. Will finish up the rest of the season this week.

keg in kc 07-27-2019 04:43 PM

If you're looking for female t&a you're gonna be disappointed. I think the dick count was higher.

crayzkirk 07-28-2019 07:36 AM

Yeah, there was none to be seen as far as female nudity. And I didn't see the ending coming at all.

Now I have to wait for season 2. Releasing all of the episodes at once requires discipline while watching... which I seem to be lacking.

And what the hell is it with that these days. I don't care if I see nudity in a movie, but if you're going to, how about show the females. It's gotten pretty normal to show a bunch of guys dongs without showing so much as a single boob. :cuss:

Otter 07-30-2019 10:19 AM

Watched up to the race last night and fell asleep right after the finish. Highly entertaining series but wow does it paint a very bleak and dark picture of the world. I wonder how many kids sat down to watch this thinking it was a X-Men
parallel only to wind up going to bed crying.

Gave a legit LOL when they poked fun at Baltimore's crime problem given the recent news. Nice unintentional foreshadowing.

This really isn't a spoiler but a prediction:

Spoiler!

Looking forward to seeing where this goes. Thanks for the heads up, I might have missed this one. :thumb:

Dudity. Ain't nobody got time for that.

bowener 07-30-2019 11:20 AM

I finished the season a few days ago, and I like where it is headed.

I know the ideas aren't the newest, but I think shows and movies should explore the obvious massive downside to having super humans in the world. Especially Super humans that may appear to be benevolent on the surface.

I started reading Irredeemable 10 years ago, but didn't keep up with it. I think it's time I go back and read it all.

BigRichard 08-01-2019 07:59 PM

Loved the season. Can't wait for the second one.

Frazod 08-02-2019 10:01 AM

Watched the first two episodes last night. I dig it.

The creators of this series seem to share my disdain for the endless stream of comic book movies.

vailpass 08-02-2019 12:25 PM

Aside from the unnecessary political shit this was an enjoyable watch.

BigBeauford 08-05-2019 09:25 AM

Great show; up there with Chernobyl as 2019s best television.

Sure-Oz 08-06-2019 11:07 PM

Love this show. The comic came out like 10 years ago and way more brutal. Amazon has some of the omnibuses for sale. I'll probably wait for all of them to go on a sale and read em all.

Karl Urban was great, even if his accent was a tad wonky. Antony Starr killed it as Homelander. Every scene he was in were the best moments of the show. I think one of the top TV villians I have encountered.

Completely agree. Homelander is awesome

Just finished the season. Homelander is one cold mf'er. I hate the fake Denzel dude. Other than that, awesome series!

The chic fingering the fish dude was hilarious.

This show is fantastic. If you have prime and have any interest in superheroes at all then this is a must watch. So so good.

Yeah. I thought it was worth a watch. Not life changing or anything but better than anything on network. The acting is pretty Damned good. I just really liked White Collar (USA) so it felt like I’d been there before.

I love that but I understand how it could be a tough sell for some guys. If nothing else, Rachel Brosnan’s cans are worth the price of admission for the first episode anyway.

This show was pretty cool. Homelander was a good villain and Starlight is megahot.

The way I described it was, I can understand if the entire concept isn't your cup of tea, but if anything about it IS your cup of tea, you won't find a show that does a better job.

It's not something I'd naturally be drawn to, except that I know Amy Sherman-Palladino is a showrunning powerhouse, but if nothing else you can marvel at how expertly it is put together.

Baby Lee 09-01-2019 06:20 AM

As for the show at issue, The Boys. I just got started this past week. About 4 eps in so far.

It's a tad cynical for me, without the cleverness or any real twists to set it apart other than with the commitment to said cynicism.

It's one thing to explore 'what if superheros were less than perfect.'
It's another to hammer 'these superheroes exemplify the most crass and craven impulses set to high.'

We get it Garth . . . [Seth, Evan, Eric], humanity is a shitpile. Every smile masks an evil plan and every pleasantry masks a deep resentment.

I tend to agree with this, but like Preacher and Ennis' Punisher run, his writing is so entertaining and his characters so compelling that I don't mind the hamfisted POV. Kinda like Alan Moore. Rarely subtle with his themes, but his shit is just so fun and engrossing to read.

This is one of those shows where seasons 2 and 3 are going to just kick righteous amounts of ass.

Shows with a large universe tend to spend the first season as a setup and if they can do that well, they just explode forward in seasons 2 and 3 before kinda coasting out as they run short on ideas. Occasionally you'll see something like Pinky Blinders were season 3 was a bit of a slow-down before rocketing forward in Season 4.

But season 2 is almost always awesome. This is gonna be great.

I really liked this series; I don't know much about the source material however it shows how people with abilities would probably behave, especially when they have been lab rats for their entire lives and have no real moral center or anything to prevent them from being as bad as they want.

^ There's a look at the new "hero" Stormfront. Supposedly she's going to rival Homelander in terms of power. Not sure if I like that. The fact that literally every body is terrified of Homelander is part of what makes the show so fun.

Aya Cash is awesome, and I imagine there will be some solid storylines with someone as powerful yet damaged as Homelander being one-upped, by a girl no less.
