As part of Gyllenhaal's vanity project, it was important to show he can win by slapping.

This movie is a good time for anyone who spends more time watching the movie than huffing their own anal vapor and fancying themselves a film critic.

Gyllenhaal carries the film well, and it was a fun watch.

If you saw the trailer, then you understood what kind of film this was going to be. People getting rocked with haymakers that would literally kill a normal person, and an outrageous antagonist.

If you expected something more then you weren't paying attention.

Ken Rex McElroy.
Never been solved. No one talks.

That was Skidmore, Mo. My best buddy and hunting bud has a farm near Quitman MO and near neighbors to Ken Mcelroy within a few miles. I know the few times running into him left a bad impression. He had little use for that dick as most around Nodaway County who encountered him.

Spoiler!
might be worst CGI I've seen since Mortal Kombat 1996.

that and when he grabs onto the boat while the boat crashes at high speeds. A move for the low IQ.

Well first of all, you need to go watch the original. Like tomorrow. Because it's a classic!

Road House 1989 is also available on Prime as well - go see this one FIRST before you see this 2024 reboot - then feel free to weep! :doh!:

Why would anyone weep?

You do understand that this film in no way erases or replaces the 1989 film, right?

Anyone not having seen the 89 version needs to be forewarned that it's mostly nostalgia forcing the recommendation, because it's easily as ridiculous as this film was.

Remember when that girl was murdered and her baby pulled out of her lifeless body in Skidmore. Great place to visit

lcarus 03-26-2024 09:23 PM

It wouldn't have been that bad but Conor McGregor was terrible. Yeah he can do fight scenes but his character and acting was a joke.

dlphg9 03-26-2024 11:38 PM

Jake absolutely carried this movie, but Connor almost ruined it. I hate the ****ing guy with a passion and his walk makes me want to kick puppies. Even with Connor looking like he had shit in his pants this movie wasn't terrible. I enjoyed it for what it was. The CGI was pretty ridiculous and the voice dubbing was stupid, but the action was cool. JG was great and funny. I think he was perfect for the roll and pretty much anyone else would have made this flop hard.

Never saw the original either.

Is that the girl whose body was found in a field owned by Ken Rex McElroy near Quitman Missouri? I was told that story by the son of the then Nodaway County Sheriff after a day of Pheasant and Quail hunting with him and my buddy.

PS: Also The Great Mortimer aka Harley Race was from Quitman Missouri and supposedly had run-ins with Ken Rex. He is rumored along with the Sherrif of Nodaway Co as one of the trigger pullers. Harley still held land around Quitman till his death in 2019. He often came back from home near St Louis, especially around hunting season. He liked the bar in the hall basement in Burlington Junction Mo. He was a hell of a good dude and Mason. I doubt he was involved. Ok done hijacking this as long as Penz quits bringing back memories.

I liked it a lot. My favorite movie from him is Donnie Darko though. I know that's either a love it or hate it movie.

Zodiac and Jarhead were also fairly good.
