When it's over we may have had the best player in history. Not just QB.

I think Mahomes may be the best all-around athlete on the planet, taking into consideration both his on-the-field and off-the-field accomplishments. He's easily the best QB in the NFL but his talent transcends both his position and his league, IMO. |

Is this the greatest thread of all time? I think yes.
|
That throw to Watson is otherworldly. Most other QBs, that would be the best ball they've ever thrown. All but maybe 20 dudes would be their top 5 throws ever.
It probably doesn't hit Mahomes Top 100. He's the best there's ever been. |

We will not abandon this thread to torment and death. Not while we still have Mahomes. Let us hunt some Jag.

It would have been fun to see Mahomes try to rip it in to MVS.

At this most critical point in the game: - makes a quick decision to speed up once the defender pursues him (setting up his juke) - keeps his eyes scanning the field and not on the defender in pursuit (zero panic) - stops on a dime so the defender misses him (a 6' 2" 230lb LB, not a lumbering DT or DE) - in the same stopping motion, rips a 35-yard pass hitting his receiver in stride He's one of one. |

100% convinced that Moore scores on that play if he cuts it back to the middle. |

So this is a play we've seen Kelce make 1,000 times and he just catches it, cuts against his body and picks up 15+ yards of YAC by just going against the defenders momentum. Moore catches it and looks for space rather than just catching it and immediately pressuring the DBs. He still picks up a bit more, but there was meat on the bones there if he's just that Nth more decisive that Kelce always seems to be. Could it be that Kelce isn't really decisive as much as he's programmed? Kelce knows that Mahomes has pristine ball placement. And he knows that Mahomes has a broader view of the coverage than he does being 20+ yards removed from it. So on a throw behind him like that, does he just assume that Mahomes is putting it there precisely so he can cut and run against the momentum? Like is he even making a decision there or just going with the momentum of the catch while trusting that Mahomes is throwing him into the lane? |
Yep he takes a false step there, it seems.
Right now, to my eyes, Skyy and Rice do about the same thing, but Rice is better at it and gives you a stronger performance at the point of the catch, because he's bigger. |

The play that had me giggling while shaking my had and mumbling "HTF does he even do that?" |
You can't teach what Mahomes has.
I'm not a big follower of college football and heard all the stories and watched all the highlights but never in my wildest dreams did I believe the college gunslinger on a horrible team could turn into the soon to be QB GOAT of the NFL. I remember watching the draft at Fate's, seeing the trade occur and going ballistic knowing we were finally drafting a QB with a #1 pick and moved up to do so. I knew it was Mahomes and not Watson. What a day and I remember it like it was yesterday. Oh boy is this glorious times for us Chiefs fans. :D |

That sideline catch by Watson was one hell of an effort, but I still don't think it was a catch. It looked like one of his feet was off the ground when he secured the ball. Not complaining, and I'll take it, but man was that close. Great job by him.

Quote:
Nah, in all seriousness, it was about as close as you can get. I think we were saved by the call on the field being a catch. If they ruled it no catch, I don’t think they could have overturned it. |
Quote:
Whatever they called it on the field was going to stand. It was just too close to really determine when he 'secured' the ball and if it happened before that right toe stopped dragging. Whatever the case may be, Jerry Rice couldn't have done any more to bring that ball in than Watson did. It was a pretty remarkable effort from him. He did everything physically possible to get those feet down and secure a fairly tough catch in the process. Catch or no catch, it was a spectacular effort from Watson. |
it was a catch
|
I think Mahomes has had better highlights so far than at this point last year. Outside of the spin and shot put in Tampa, of course.
|
Quote:
But from a target and work load. As far as highlights? I don't know maybe more flashy plays but production isn't off. I do think the WR are down on TD's compared to last season. They have what 4? 2 Rice- 1 Moore, and 1 Watson? |

They do have more TDs though. |
