GEHA Field.

Just thought a few people might be curious when it came across my feed.

MOAR $$$

redfan 07-02-2020 11:32 AM

Git dat coin!

bdj23 07-02-2020 11:37 AM

Lame AF

I always liked having our stadiums not being desecrated with corporate sponsorship titles.

BigRedChief 07-02-2020 11:37 AM

Guess that’s better than losing Arrowhead to Geha Stadium

RealSNR 07-02-2020 11:37 AM

Gross. Incestco Field at Mile High was always stupid, and if we have to start listening to Jim Nantz say GEHA Insurance at Arrowhead Stadium, **** that.

What's the benefit? Is that going to shave off the beer prices by 1 or 2 dollars? Reduce parking rates?

 your cute. You think fans will see a penny of that money? Nada chance. Profit for the team and the Hunt’s only.

Red Dawg 07-02-2020 11:42 AM

It will always be Arrowhead. Noatyer what they add.

We have Mahomes. They should name after him.

They just won the Superbowl. Clark saw that people are willing to shell out $65 to park a car and I'm sure beers will go up to pay for the commemorative cups.

Plus, they'll have to recoup all the $ lost when there aren't any fans this years. JFC man, it's like you don't even care about the poor billionaires bottom dollar!

jallmon 07-02-2020 11:43 AM

Get Pat to pay for it!

Chiefspants 07-02-2020 11:44 AM

Chiefs subtly moving away from the "Arrowhead" name.

What are the odds they commission Tech to write a song that replaces the chop?

wazu 07-02-2020 11:45 AM

Do they really have to spell out four letters when the name is said? Can't just pronounce it "Gee-hah"? How unimaginative was the person who came up with that name.

KurtCobain 07-02-2020 11:49 AM

Well, that's awfully stupid.

redfan 07-02-2020 11:53 AM

I'm surprised the Chiefs held out this long. That must've been a weighty check.

neech 07-02-2020 11:54 AM

A name change for a the stadium was inevitable, I was hoping for Google stadium.

Hammock Parties 07-02-2020 11:56 AM

too bad it's not Hunt's Field

Rain Man 07-02-2020 12:06 PM

I'll continue calling it T-H-E Field.

I've always been so pleased that the Chiefs didn't do this sort of greedy garbage. This is pretty disappointing.

ptlyon 07-02-2020 12:11 PM

GHEY field at Arrowhead

They aren't dropping Arrowhead from the name, it clearly states the stadium is still Arrowhead, the field itself is all that's sponsored.

arrowheadnation 07-02-2020 12:24 PM

Fingers crossed for Gates Field at Arrowhead Stadium and as part of the agreement, Jim Nance or any other TV announcer MUST say in a loud shrill voice "HI MAY I HELP YOU?!?!"

Now I'm starting to wonder if it's not a long-game move to change from Arrowhead and native american themes. You sell the field name under stated capitalistic motivations to break the ice, and then work up from there, and then at some point the Arrowhead name disappears under the weight of corporate branding with only the usual controversy that comes with any corporate sellout.

Yeah, I saw that. Still feels like this could be planting the seeds for a transition away from the name. We'll see.

big nasty kcnut 07-02-2020 12:38 PM

It going to be arrowhead stadium. Played on geha field.

MAHOMO 4 LIFE! 07-02-2020 12:43 PM

Arrowheads aren’t racist

It was a way for less developed cultures to kill enemies from long range

petegz28 07-02-2020 02:13 PM

So will it now be Geha Field @ Arrowhead?

Kinda like Invesco Field @ Mile High?

****.

EPodolak 07-02-2020 02:44 PM

GEHA (Government Employees Health Association) is a self-insured, not-for-profit association providing medical and dental plans to federal employees and retirees and their families.

That's the least rock and roll name I can think of. Bad idea. Really bad.

Makes absoultly no sense to me why a Federal "not for profit" would see buying naming rights to anything a good thing

yeah that’s a huge ****ing blinking red flag right there. The rights start next season. PFT says they have actively been shopping the naming rights for 10 years to anyone and everyone who would listen.

RealSNR 07-02-2020 05:55 PM

So what are the remaining stadiums that don't sport a corporate sponsor anywhere in the name of the stadium?

Arrowhead Stadium
Soldier Field
Lambeau Field
Paul Brown Stadium

I think that's it. The Saints now play in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Bills sold off Ralph Wilson as well. The Broncos whored their identity to Incestco years ago, which is now something else I don't care about.

I guess technically the Ford FAMILY owns the Lions and thus bears the name of Ford Field, even though the name of the stadium is clearly through the sponsorship of the car company and not the family connected to both interests.

We're definitely part of a dying breed, and it would be nice if we didn't have to end that distinction this soon. That's assuming we eventually go to a _______ Field at Arrowhead Stadium bullshit name after 2020.

MAHOMO 4 LIFE! 07-02-2020 07:16 PM

Mahomes has a sponsorship with GEHA. Basically this is Pats decision

The concession stands could sell 2 burgers.

"The Nothing Burger ( 0 ) "

" The Fourty Burger (40)

Just a matter of time. Sort of a bummer but that is the modern game.

This is fair.

It's Arrowhead Stadium.

Not Nabisco Field at Arrowhead.
Not Arrowhead Stadium presented by Pepsi.
Not TheGeneral.com Stadium.

It's Arrowhead Stadium and I'm not calling it anything else.

Actually the Bills were the first team to do the naming rights. The name before Ralph Wilson was Rich Stadium. That was Rich Chicken who bought that in the 70s.

Do the Chiefs own the naming rights to the stadium? I would think that belongs to Jackson County.

That whole "Invesco Field at Mile High" thing started when they built the new stadium. Who renamed the baseball stadium, the Royals or Jackson County? I'm pretty sure it was Jackson County.
