The former Chief in the tv sitcom is now a well known actor, which isn't The Tooz.

It was very clear, who wrestles Andre the Giant was a HS QB, a sprinter snd played in movies and TV shows? a 6-10 NFL Fastest Man?

Rain Man 02-14-2020 11:26 PM

Buck Buchanan also had a role in the movie M*A*S*H. Williamson had the speaking part, but Buchanan got some good camera time.

In 1967, Amos signed a free agent contract with the American Football League's Kansas City Chiefs. Coach Hank Stram told him, "you're not a football player, you're a man who is trying to play football." Amos approached Stram with a poem he wrote about a mythical creature that passes the door of all players who are cut from a team. He read it to the team and received a standing ovation from all the players and coaches. Amos said Stram pushed him in the direction of writing after he was released from training camp. He returned to the Continental League, where he played that year with the Victoria Steelers.

It was 1970.

Bob Hayes was a running back at Florida A&M, a football player who just happened o be the worlds fastest human.

Jimmy Hines was an expriment that failed, he was a track guy trying to be a football player......fail!!!

Both ran the 9.1 WR, the 5.9 60 WR and both were Olympic 100m Champs. And both were the first to break 10,00 at 100m, Hayes a 9.91 windy, Hines a 9.95 legal.

The more you describe it the more it is creeping back to my memory. I vaguely recall (perhaps a false memory) of not being worried about Bob Hayes because we had a guy just as fast. Back then, in my mind, every Chief was the best at their position in the NFL.

There is a video on YouTube, from VLADTV, where he tells this story himself. It's much better than wiki entry.

In the video he says that he was cut from the Chiefs twice, and signed as a free agent with the Broncos, and was cut the next day.
