Welp, time to start the thread because LANDO IS BACK.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the long-gestating rumors that Billy Dee Williams will return to that galaxy far, far away and will reprise his role of Lando Calrissian for next year’s Star Wars: Episode IX!

Williams made his debut as the gambling scoundrel in Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, reprising in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and in countless other Star Wars shows like Star Wars Rebels and games like Star Wars: Jedi Knight II – Jedi Outcast. He even voiced the character in various Robot Chicken and Family Guy episodes dedicated solely to Star Wars as well as The LEGO Movie. Donald Glover stepped into the role earlier this year to play a younger Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

In Episode IX, Williams joins returning franchise stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver, plus newcomer (and frequent J.J. Abrams collabroator) Keri Russell.

Cool. Let's see how they transform him into an unhappy shell of his former self like they did with the other Original Trilogy characters.

Christ, Billy D Williams is like 81 I think.

I'll give him this... black don't crack. He doesn't look nearly as old as the rest of the old cast.

Lando isn't about a certain look, anyway.

It's all about the attitude.

That's why Ford could pull off Han Solo at 70.

Billy Dee has even more charisma.

Do NOT **** this up, JJ.

I find it hilarious that Kylo made it a point to urge Rey to "let it go" all while these ****ing execs won't bother to take the advice. Stop trying to shoehorn all of these old ass characters into the new trilogy. It's been like 50 ****ing years. Let it goooooo.

Is Rain Johnson involved?

MarkDavis'Haircut 07-10-2018 05:36 AM

Damage control.

Would have been better to have met him at the casino the last movie. At least that enite plot line would have had some payoff.

BigRichard 07-10-2018 06:46 AM

Great... one more iconic figure they can **** up. Yee haw!

loochy 07-10-2018 07:13 AM

Oh great, maybe they can cast him as some kind of social justice leader fighting against the evil authority.

He'll come back, win the Falcon in a game of dice, then crash it killing himself and Chewie.

Yeah, but that's my point.

Williams looks about 20 years younger than Ford does. I seriously had no idea he was so ****ing old.
