Amon Ra gets paid

4 years 120 mil 77 guaranteed.

He's good. Is he that good though?

Pasta Little Brioni 04-24-2024 10:12 AM

Lulz it's out of hand. Supposedly Goof is getting big money too

RockChalk 04-24-2024 10:14 AM

No, he's not.

chop 04-24-2024 10:16 AM

Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase are probably doing a little dance right now.

So is Brandon Aiyuk.

Pretty Rickey...

O.city 04-24-2024 10:23 AM

This one helps Aiyuk alot more than the other two.

Jefferson and Chase and Lamb are 30+ million a year guys, doesn't matter who signs what.

The Franchise 04-24-2024 10:23 AM

You guys are crazy if you think St. Brown isn't good enough to get paid.

It's a race to try to get your WR signed at this point. JJ, Chase, Aiyuk, Higgins, Waddle all going to be paid soon. The price ticks up for each one as these new deals are inked.

Eagles might've been the smartest of all these teams to get Devonta Smith signed 1st. $25 mil a year might look like a pretty reasonable contract after JJ/Chase get $35/yr and the others get $30/yr

Yea, dude is a legit WR1, and the antithesis of the stereotypical diva WR.

chiefzilla1501 04-24-2024 10:35 AM

Well earned. Dude is a hell of a player. Keep hoping jameson will slip through the cracks because dude is terribly underused.

I don't think he isn't good enough to get paid. I think he deserves to get paid.

I just think the contract he signed is somewhat overpaid. Time will tell.

He's gotten better every single season that he's been in the league. He's only 24. He can win from the slot and from outside. I don't really see it as that huge of an overpay.

That is my take also.

Considering the price of receivers now, does it take the sting off of a move up in the draft that may require next years #1 to grab an elite WR?

notorious 04-24-2024 11:06 AM

Detroit could have moved him to open up space and get more pics to build on.

Just like was did with Tyreek.

Oh wait, they don’t have Mahomes? Nevermind.

I actually like the deal, but I like the Lions skill position guys, they are loaded. He's only 24 and is coming off a 1500 yard season even though he missed a game. This might be a rare case where they're actually going to get his prime years here instead of just overpaying for past performance.

KCJake 04-24-2024 11:18 AM

I believe Amo NRA is a famous gun advocate and munitions salesman in the wider Detroit metropolitan area. Sounds like he's making a killing up there.

Every single time one of these WRs gets paid it makes me so happy, because I know Hollywood just added another few hours to his training regime whenever he sees a new deal come through.

That dude is going to spark off like a firecracker in this offense next year, he wants his bag and Mahomes is going to get it for him while winning us another Super Bowl, and we’re all going to masturbate and be jolly.

Direckshun 04-24-2024 12:06 PM

I really, really, really have trouble believing any WR is worth 30m a year.

Especially when you have to have a really good QB throwing him the ball.

Now that we're in the 30m/year phase for WRs, I'd like to see how many of them actually advance to the Super Bowl.

I bet it's exactly zero.

That’s a lot of money, but if we’re figuring for NFL inflation, he’s probably going to be worth that contract. He’s a true WR1, and likely a perennial top-10 kind of WR. Plus he’s willing to do all the grunt work like run-block.

Yeah, they’re crazy electric.

Eh, these inflated contracts at the top end trickle down for the midlevel guys we sign. The whole league feels it.

Oh wow - he did.

That's the quietest 1,500 yard season ever. Geez.

I knew he was good but that's outstanding. I didn't realize he was THAT good. I would've told you he was around 1,200 yards last year and said "yeah - top 10 guy; probably deserves to get paid..."

But that's more like "Damn, top 5 guy, DEFINITELY needs a bag..."

He's just so under the radar.

Dwayne Bowe balled out with Matt Cassel throwing him the ball to the tune of 1,162 yards and 15 TDs and followed that season up with 1,159 yards and 5 TDs. Kind of blows your theory that a receiver has to have a REALLY GOOD QB throwing them the ball.

Yeah, it’s even more impressive considering that DET is a run-centric team. I only realized how well Brown was doing because I bet on LaPorta to catch at least 5 passes in some game late in the season and they mentioned that AMR Brown was already over 1,300 yards.

Tony G made a career out of catching passes from mediocre guys.

He was one of my better auction values in fantasy football, I'll tell you that.

KC should never pay top $$$ for an offensive weapon in the Mahomes era. We are entering the territory of “Tiger vs The Field”. Good for those players getting paid, never will happen in KC for the next 10 years.

Correct. It will always be a different situation for a player on offense because #15 is still under center. Jones currently is the #15 of the defense. It's why Veach prioritized signing Jones over Sneed despite paying more for an older player.

gordonelloyd 04-24-2024 09:02 PM

I think St Brown is a really good receiver. But if he is worth that much, I think Jefferson and Chase are probably looking at a floor of 35,000 a year and maybe even will hold out for more. This really resets the bar for WR salaries.

And unlike QB wherevthere are probably less than five in the top group (Mahomes, Allan, Burrows and let’s stretch it and put in Jackson and assume he is healthy and put in Rogers) there are so many Wars. Jefferson, Chase, Hill, diggs, and a list goes on. There were 23 of them with over 1000 yards. And I think the argument can be made that someone who makes 1000 yards one year can make 1500 yards another year.

So on a supply demand basis, it looks like wide receivers are getting closer to quarterback pay than should be justified.

Because of Mahomes, we only need good receivers, not elite ones. But we have to make sure we don’t pay our receivers elite money. Moving on from Hill looks more and more like a good decision. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that some poor decisions were made in trying to replace him (Moore and Toney.) although hopefully both of them will return to showing something like they did two years ago instead of being complete busts like they were last year.
