Lol; no way. Think I called that a couple months back

Or is this April Fools?

comochiefsfan 04-01-2024 08:45 PM

Stupid move Veach.

This guy sucks and is by all accounts a dick. Don’t want him anywhere near this team.

New World Order 04-01-2024 08:46 PM

This is a good move

TribalElder 04-01-2024 08:46 PM

Not an April Fools joke

IowaHawkeyeChief 04-01-2024 08:50 PM

He will not see a snap except in cleanup duty as we successfully complete the 3-peat.

KC Hawks 04-01-2024 08:51 PM

He's way better than Blabbert

KC_Connection 04-01-2024 08:51 PM

Interesting. Wentz is a way better backup QB option than I ever expected them to get.

BWillie 04-01-2024 08:52 PM

Wow this is a really really good back up. Hope we didnt break the bank

smithandrew051 04-01-2024 08:52 PM

I kinda like it.

Way better than Gabbert.

Well this seals this as an excellent move by the Chiefs.

Bump 04-01-2024 08:53 PM

Sounds good to me! He'll get to play in the last game of the season, I'm sure. Gabbert was pretty ass and Andy loves his veteran backups.

Yeah Blaine Gabbert was so much better!

Megatron96 04-01-2024 08:53 PM

If Andy can fix his head, probably the best backup option We’ve ever had.

Dante84 04-01-2024 08:54 PM

chiefzilla1501 04-01-2024 08:54 PM

Henne was wonderful when you needed him for a few scripted drives

Gabbert just isn't very good

Not a fan of Wentz but kinda feel like at this stage in the career he knows what he is

DRM08 04-01-2024 08:54 PM

Pretty big slice of humble pie getting served to Wentz. He was a #2 draft pick who was given Mahomes level praise in the media during his first 2-3 seasons. The wheels fell off big time! That said, I hope Andy & Patrick can get this guy to be a much better backup QB than Gabbert.

mr. tegu 04-01-2024 08:55 PM

It’s still weird how he didn’t seem to get another chance after an acceptable season with the Colts.

BigRedChief 04-01-2024 08:55 PM

Well now we know why the rugby player got Gabbert number.

He can’t. Frank Reich thought he could fix him and was so disgusted with him he dumped him after one year in Indy.

Andy aint fixing shit. Let’s just hope he doesn’t come in with a massive ego and **** with the locker room.

ptlyon 04-01-2024 08:57 PM

Carson Wentz in his pants

alpha_omega 04-01-2024 08:58 PM

Hopefully he doesn’t bring that duchess chick with him. /pennywise

TwistedChief 04-01-2024 08:58 PM

Guys, Gabbert is so bad.

Wentz isn't that good. But he's not Gabbert bad.

chiefzilla1501 04-01-2024 08:58 PM

Doesn't need to be great. Needs to execute a few scripted drives in a pinch

Gabbert was totally incapable of that. Henne was dogshit everywhere else but did this part of the job exceptionally well. Wentz probably at a point in his career where he's thankful to just be around. I like it.

What QB comes in here thinking they got a shot at the job? Of course he knows he’s a backup.

I have faith in Andy. He made Henne look decent. And not terribly worried about Wentz’s ego. Just his decision making.

Anyway, we’ll see in preseason. No doubt Andy will at least start him in the third PS game.

I highly doubt Carson Wentz has the ability to **** with our locker room in any capacity.

philfree 04-01-2024 09:00 PM

God forbid we need him to play but Andy Reid can get the most out of Wentz.

chiefzilla1501 04-01-2024 09:02 PM

For all the great we've done I feel like we got into a bad recent habit of picking up guys based on personal recommendations. Signing gabbert never made much sense to me. I think he signed because of henne

comochiefsfan 04-01-2024 09:03 PM

Chase Daniel would’ve been the better option.

1. Good locker room guy
2. Still very physically skilled
3. Missouri Tiger

Missed opportunity by Veach to bring home a true son.

ChiliConCarnage 04-01-2024 09:04 PM

Can he drive Rashee to practice?

even though this is one of our better teams in the Mahomes era, he goes down for more than 4-5 games, season is over.

Chieftain 04-01-2024 09:05 PM

Gabbert was horrendous last year. I think Wince might work out and be a long term backup, like Henne.

RunKC 04-01-2024 09:07 PM

Finally a backup who is talented and would actually give this team a chance if Mahomes ever missed any time.

Blaine Gabbert was ****ing terrible. Had no faith in him at all

New World Order 04-01-2024 09:07 PM

Blaine Gabbert was the drizzling craps

-King- 04-01-2024 09:09 PM

That's a very nice backup. Hopefully he'll never see the field but still a good signing

Pepe Silvia 04-01-2024 09:09 PM

Good move. Gabbert was trash.

Bowser 04-01-2024 09:11 PM

Huh, interesting.

He's retired. He didn't go to the Jets when they wanted a starter last season and inquired.

TribalElder 04-01-2024 09:13 PM

Henne and Gabbert both won games for KC

I guess we will see week 18 if Wentz can do that too

BWillie 04-01-2024 09:14 PM

Wentz is better than about a quarter of the NFL QBs starting next year

Yeah this is just not true.

There’s a reason like 3 different teams thought they had something when they brought him in and then immediately decided they couldn’t get rid of him fast enough.

I just don’t like this signing. The guy has long been known as a bad locker room guy. Wish we had gone in a different direction.

wazu 04-01-2024 09:18 PM

Pretty solid. Reid has shown he can get the best out of far less capable backups. With the defense we have now if we needed Wentz to step in for a few games I could see this move keeping us relatively on schedule.

Imon Yourside 04-01-2024 09:19 PM

Time for Wentz to get his 2nd backup QB Ring.

Gary Cooper 04-01-2024 09:19 PM

I don't remember Gabbert playing much last year outside of the final game. That was also the game where Khalil Mack was dominating our O-Line and several linemen were hurt. Guys were playing out of position and combine that with a QB who doesn't get many snaps and is immobile. It was an ugly game but a small sample size to measure.

What would Carson Wentz have done differently that game?

People act like Gabbert cost us a playoff game or something. He was fine. Played in one meaningless game and won it to boot. It's probably just folks who hate Mizzou (not a fight I have a dog in, personally) or something. Wentz is an upgrade but Gabbert was fine here.

John Dorsey probably would have given Wentz a $100 million contract

Rain Man 04-01-2024 09:27 PM

I was really excited for a second, because I thought Wentz was a University of North Dakota Ermine. But it looks like he went to North Dakota State.

New World Order 04-01-2024 09:29 PM

Wentz is the 3rd best qb in the division

I have no emotion about Mizzou. Gabbert just isn't good and beating Easton stick doesn't validate it. Nothing against the dude. But it speaks volumes that Reid who loves veteran backups and is excellent with them is moving on after 1 year. Henne and Matt Moore were tremendous when called on. Does anyone really actually think gabbert was gonna do the same?

kc-nd 04-01-2024 09:33 PM

I’m good with this. Watched Wentz at Century High School in Bismarck and at North Dakota State. Knew him when he was a really young boy. Fun that he’s going to my favorite team of 50 plus years.

Until he started at NDSU, Wentz backed up Brock Jensen who had a shot at the NFL. Carson then led the NDSU Bison to two FCS championships. Once when injured, Easton Stick, the current Chargers backup, came in and started until Carson healed up.

Career 90 QB rating. Would rank him about 19th or 20th last year. Joe Flacco, Kyler Murray, Tyrod Taylor. In that realm.

Like who Zach Wilson?

If you are looking at the veteran QB back-up market, you are going to find issues with all of them.

Wentz has familiarity with Andy’s offense.

RunKC 04-01-2024 09:47 PM

Fun fact: before Patrick Mahomes, Veach wore Andy out on another QB he loved as a prospect: Carson Wentz.

Still think Wentz had his career ruined bc his confidence was ruined watching Foles carry his team to a SB win
