NFLPA Survey: Clark rated with an F-

I don't get this.

The @NFLPA just released their player team report cards for 2024 and the results are ... suboptimal for the Chiefs.

Head coach Andy Reid gets A+ but Chiefs rank dead last in training staff and ownership. LMAO

Direckshun 02-28-2024 10:35 AM

LOL wow

Guess it's time for the Hunts to update the facilities. No wonder they're making a stink about the coming upgrades.

I wonder what's behind the locker room getting an F. They just upgraded the locker room.

Anyway, you can file this under "as a fan, I don't care." This is millionaires complaining about a billionaire.

It is a pretty fascinating look behind the curtain however. If all you did was consume Chiefs-produced content you'd get the impression that the entire experience of being a Chiefs player was heaven on earth.

Abba-Dabba 02-28-2024 10:35 AM

They had a bad report card last year with some of the same complaints.

Direckshun 02-28-2024 10:38 AM

Also there's more than a little weirdness in here too.

Like, Stephen Ross was an A for Dolphins players!? Stephen Ross?

Titty Meat 02-28-2024 10:38 AM

Interesting timing

DrRyan 02-28-2024 10:41 AM

That seems really strange the training staff getting a F. They were lauded across the board after the handling of Pat's high ankle sprain last season.

Clark just massively upgraded the locker room 3 years ago. This can't possibly be an F man come on.

Oof. NGL, that's a real bad look for Hunt. At first glance I thought they meant the Championship they'd just won, but they're referring to the 23 off season.

dirk digler 02-28-2024 10:51 AM

Reading the ratings for the locker room I am wondering because of the age of the stadium it is not easy to expand it. That seems to be the main issue.

If anyone has taken the arrowhead tour, like me, the locker room is state of the art!! It’s fantastic!! I can’t possibly understand what’s missing? Stripper poles? Open bar? Ice cream machines?

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

FloridaMan88 02-28-2024 10:54 AM

It's all about the facilities... especially their locker room which is outdated.

Clark probably should have invested in upgrades previously, but now the timing doesn't make sense to do anything substantial as they are about to do the massive Arrowhead renovations.

InChiefsHeaven 02-28-2024 10:54 AM

What the ****? Do they expect a new locker room every season or something?

Having lived through 20 years of that shit-stain Dan Snyder in DC, I don’ get this at all. Win Super Bowls, seemingly treats people fairly, no off-the-field drama from the owner, hot daughter, what’s not to like? To me, the Hunts seem like the best owners in the NFL by FAR.

The game day locker room in the stadium was renovated recently, but the locker room in the practice facility that the team uses more frequently is very outdated.

I wouldn't really use college locker rooms as a measuring stick though to be fair. They use those as recruiting tools for young kids that they don't have to pay so they can just go all out on them.

But anyways, the locker rooms in the chiefs practice facility are pretty damn outdated.

dirk digler 02-28-2024 11:02 AM

Some of these things are very easy to fix. It isn't hard to upgrade the weight room and weights, get more training staff, and fix the food.

Some of these other complaints like size\space are due to Arrowhead being old.

Sure, for the most part I agree, but the players were told it was getting renovated and then got the lol jk nvm because apparently a month in January was the difference. It's complete bullshit if that's how Hunt and the ownership actually managed it.

I understand why the players don't like it - it's not at all impressive in person, regardless of the photographs. That said, there's just not a shitload that can be done quickly. You'll have to excavate further area under the stadium to expand it.

I can't speak to the training facilities or anything - they didn't let us go back there. But the locker room is nothing to write home about. I suspect the overwhelming majority of guys came from better lockerrooms in college if they played at Power 5 schools. I know Mizzou's is better.

Yea pretty much any P5 locker room is probably better, the shit they put in those is pretty ridiculous.

FloridaMan88 02-28-2024 11:16 AM

The players want the shiny new training/practice facilities that have recently been built in Dallas, Minnesota, Miami, Las Vegas, etc.

This is where the players spend most of their time during the season and these facilities include a locker room that is used way more frequently than the home stadium locker room (that the Chiefs renovated at Arrowhead in 2021 but it's only used on gamedays).

Is it a bad look for well paid players to be crying about facilities? Maybe, but that is what they are expressing with these survey results.

Gents…

The Kansas Jayhawks are about to have better football locker rooms for their practices than the Chiefs.

I’m a proud Jayhawk fan, but that absolutely should be looked at as a priority for ownership. If Clark really did make a promise and not follow through with it, then this feels pretty understandable.

It's not.

Yeah college locker rooms are insane.

I do think the players are moreso talking about the locker room at the practice facility than at Arrowhead. The one at Arrowhead is comparable to others around the league and plus, they only have to be there a few hours 10-12 weeks a year. The practice facility one where they are there for multiple hours a day for 6 months a year is just bad. Them getting new chairs instead of the stools they had as their upgrade is kind of hilarious LMAO

Oh hey, thanks for 146k bonus and an 11k SB ring, but what REALLY bothers me is the practice facility locker room.

Where you shower and change clothes.

Remember the franchise episode that had the opening going through that locker room? The only thing that caught my eye was how messy it was.

I imagine Clark will come through and solve this first world problem.

More meaningless ****ing offseason bull shit. Pathetic...

How do the Packers get rated higher? Their stadium is older than dirt.

The Kansas Jayhawks are about to have better football locker rooms with their renovations.

I’m a proud Jayhawk fan, but that absolutely should be looked at as a problem for the Chiefs.

So they aborted Tucan Sam? If it has a cartoon chicken in it's an abomination

This is where the players spend most of their time during the season and these facilities include a locker room that is used way more frequently than the home stadium locker room (that the Chiefs renovated at Arrowhead in 2021 but it's only used on gameday).

Is it a bad look for well paid players to be crying about facilities? Maybe, but that is what they are expressing with these survey results.

It's just the going rate of what has to be done. In college teams like USC had to invest a shit ton of money because recruits thought they had shitty facilities compared to say Oregon.

Also the indoor practice facility has very little sideline in areas. This is what led to Nazee Johnson's injury last year, and IIRC someone smashed into a door and cut themselves on the glass a year or two earlier.

The Packers did a complete and full reno on that stadium not that long ago, while it's the same stadium everything in it is new.

I think it’s BS too but we do have one of the best locker room environments in the league and players getting along is a big part of that…. And.. Winning..

There is no reason this should ever change.

Young men with more money in their pocket than they have ever had need a buddy system.

They get off the plane and visit the homes of the dudes they are about to play against.

Your buddy system is antiquated.

The Dolphins opened their new practice facility last year and Ross spent $135 million of his own money to build it.

And when you compare this to the Chiefs current practice facility... yeah there is no comparison.

We need more suffering in the NFL, not less.

The NFL was better when the players suffered more.
