Weird career. Went from a ~500 yard per season WR receiver to out of the league after one down year.

Eleazar 12-20-2023 09:21 AM

This guy last caught a pass (6 of them) in 2021.

Yep he can scoot.

Maybe they signed him so the other WRs could look at him and feel better about themselves.

Rainbarrel 12-20-2023 09:26 AM

If a guy off the street showing up Toney don't motivate him? Goodbye

Never heard of him.

LoneWolf 12-20-2023 09:41 AM

Nagy is familiar with him and he has better NFL tape than Skyy Moore. I know that is like saying he has a higher IQ than AdolfOliverBush, but it's not completely insignificant.

Okay epic. We back.

Ross is more likely to see the field than this guy. Lol

Really, ya think?! No shit, captain obvious. A guy that has been on the roster for 2 years and knows the complete offense is definitely more likely to see the field right now, but your stupid comment "maybe they signed him so the other WRs could look at him and feel better about themselves" was just plain stupid.

You try to come off as edgy with your constant snarky little comments, but you are just too much of a pussy to pull it off.

Shoes 12-20-2023 09:52 AM

I doubt Miller makes an impact but maybe the competition will spark some better play out of the receivers. Need one of James, Hardman, Toney and now Miller to step up and provide some good reps.

Change your tampon, Nancy. The WRs 100% suck ass except for Rice.

I HAVE A MASSIVE ERECTION RIGHT NOW!!!!

(too be honest, I’m always carrying a massive erection)

chiefzilla1501 12-20-2023 09:56 AM

Ultimately this is just a practice squad move. So whatever… don’t care, don’t not care

But are we getting into a habit of just going with the familiar? Our last 2 major free agent moves at WR are uncoincidentally Kafka guys. I’m guessing Anthony Miller was brought in because he knows Nagy

So again… this signing is a nothingburger. But I just hope this offseason we look outside of our network (unless eb wants to wrap up Terry mclaurin in a nice bow)

philfree 12-20-2023 10:01 AM

Curious to what this guys story is. Why did he slip through the cracks?

RunKC 12-20-2023 10:03 AM

Played with Nagy in Chicago. He knows the offense

Rainbarrel 12-20-2023 10:06 AM

I think Andy is more upset with MVS, veteran. Just catching a pass is the mission impossible

Yeah, so this one I can understand. It makes sense insurance-wise. In a pinch just use someone who knows the offense this late in the season

But it still makes me uneasy that all of the guys we seem to call on are bears and giants. Hell, the name that often gets thrown as a guy we’re interested in is Mooney.

He has elite speed and quickness.

He hasn't played in two years. This is such a meh move, I don't even understand it... also I think it has very little to with Toney. if they are going to pull back snaps or bench toney, they'll do it and elevate someone on the team, not this retread, right?

He's been on and off practice squads this year. He's probably in OK shape.

FloridaMan88 12-20-2023 10:54 AM

Might as well sign Ertz or Landry or even Sammy Watkins... at least they have a pedigree of past success in the NFL.

Jarvis Landry wasn't that athletic when he was drafted. His last year playing he looked slow as hell.

OnTheWarpath15 12-20-2023 11:03 AM

LOL at people thinking this is a shot at our other WR's.

Moore is on IR and will be until the AFCCG.

They are looking for a body at this point, not a Toney/MVS/Whoever replacement.

Wisconsin_Chief 12-20-2023 11:11 AM

This is just how this team operates. Miller put up good numbers in this offense under Nagy, and that means something to them. You give him a few weeks he can probably realistically contribute if needed. You sign a guy like Landry and he'd be useless here.

Reerun_KC 12-20-2023 11:12 AM

Kicking tires? More like let’s take a bottle of slime tire sealant and an air tank and see if this flat broke down tire will hold air.

Nothing positive will come of this. O

If he doesn't put the ball in to the opponent's hands... he will already have added more to this team than Toney has. Two downfield blocks and he has met MVS's total output this season.

Yeah like I said I get this move because it’s so late in the season.

It was just worth noting a pattern that maybe completely escaped us. That we may be playing favorites with guys in the Reid tree

Toney = Kafka
Miller (maybe Mooney one day?) = Nagy/poles
Richie James = Kafka / embree

Worth thinking about….

nychief 12-20-2023 12:34 PM

I’ve never heard anyone consider it. It’s something I hadn’t considered for a while either

And there’s nothing even remotely kooky about what I said. In fact it’s blatant. And it’s not uncommon for teams to put blinders on for guys who know the system.

So I have no idea what you’re blabbering about

It's called experience in the same system, same terminology. They don't have to learn a whole new language on the fly.

I get it for Anthony Miller this late in the season. Solid move.

But did we have blinders on Toney and James? Are we setting ourselves up again with mooneys name being tossed around for the offseason? I know it’s a side topic to Miller. But it’s something to be wary of

chiefzilla1501 12-20-2023 01:45 PM

It also begs the question of if our insistence of finding system guys made us unwilling to make a move earlier in the season, when we actually had a shot of bringing in a guy who could help later in the season

Familiarly. They value that in WRs more than anything, even talent.

He probably knows the playbook inside and out. To them, that’s more important than having elite talent for a depth WR.

Put me on the team for three years and I could also have expert knowledge of the playbook.

Doesn’t mean I’d have the talent to execute this knowledge on the field.

Same deal with Cornell Powell.

The Bears on Monday traded receiver Anthony Miller and a 2022 seventh-round draft pick to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2022 fifth-round choice

It’s weird that the Houston Texans waived Anthony Miller less than three months after doing this trade to get him. I remember him his rookie year and he was impressive.

His journey looks very odd. He was very productive for a few years, certainly more than any WR on our roster besides Rice. Then he just fell off a cliff and was out of the league. Seems abrupt, maybe he’s someone who can actually contribute by playoff time. Certainly couldn’t be worse than what we’ve seen so far.

I mean, he did get traded to Houston's dumpster fire lol. He might would still with Pittsburgh if he didn't need the shoulder surgery that cost him all of 2022? I dunno... Maybe we'll get something from this. At least he knows a good segment of the offensive scheme.
