Jags Sign Tebow
Jaguars signed TE Tim Tebow to a one-year contract.
The deal isn't 'official' just yet but will be in the next week or so. Tebow, 33, hasn't played in a regular-season game in nine years and will be attempting to change positions once he does make it to camp. It's another wacky (albeit fun) move that brings Meyer's tenure into question after the organization also added a first-round running back and drafted multiple injured players. There is no competition among Jacksonville's tight ends if Tebow does somehow sneak onto the 53-man roster. https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/footb...nville-jaguars |
LOL. Pretty much what everybody told him to do when he came out.
But I bet he doesn’t see the field and is a “locker room guy” ala vrable under pissoli. |
My buddy had Tebow and Dave Chapelle at his hotel at the same time.
Tebow was, by far, the larger PITA. |
lmao
|
Money grab. He's old and they want to suddenly play a receiver role? Effing stupid as ****.
|
Sounds like ‘put butts in seats’ signing.
|
Here we go... wait for it, the outcry about Kap will be loud.

The worst NFL QB I've ever seen. Made Cassel look like Dan Marino.

The dumbass could have been in the league this whole time if he hadn’t insisted on playing QB.. Whats different now Tim?? $$$$

NFL back to being good with guys kneeling

Well it takes away a bunch of the media off of Trevor Lawrence that is for sure.

Urban Meyer is looking more and more like the next Steve Spurrier-type college to NFL failure.
Even the presence of Trevor Lawrence won’t prevent it. |

I'm a University of Florida fan and a New York Mets fan.
I'll never understand people's real dislike for the guy. He was an amazing college QB who was never going to amount to anything in the NFL in that position but stuck to his guns to try to live out his dream. He eventually pivoted to baseball after years of not playing and developed into a serviceable minor leaguer. He probably sees an opportunity to get one last chance to play in the NFL with his college head coach. Why not go for it? If the guy were all about the money, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have spent the last several years riding the bus as a minor league baseball player in his spare time. |

Says he was 2 of 8 for 69 yards. 56 of that on 1 pass to Decker which won the game. https://www.pro-football-reference.c...1111130kan.htm |

I detest religion but even I can see the guy is at least genuine about it. |

You ever notice how on football forums there is always one guy who is rabid fan of the fourth string rb and wants to argue with everyone on the board that the team would win the SB if only Johnny ****stick got the ball more? Well, imagine if that player had 30 million fans just like that. |
This move should put the Jaguars over the top

Jaguars are going to be garbage. Why not try another gimmick?
|
Has any player had a longer absence from the league and returned? Let alone a different position. It would be a miracle.

Finished your sentence for you Dane. |
Jaguars just wanted their own in house prayer guy instead of having to outsource prayers from the local pastor.

I’d have more fun laughing at how bad Tebow was if the Chiefs weren’t somehow worse during the same time.
I also like that Tebow has won the AFC West more recently than Philip Rivers. |

That sort of gadget play? |

And then there was the time when Tebow hurt himself throwing a pass five yards over the head of a wide open receiver who was three yards downfield. After a close review of the tape, it was designated as a non-football injury.
|
This is a "put asses in the seats" sign. He will get a couple gadget plays and that would be about it I'm guessing.
|
Had he taken the Patriots (iirc?) offer to try out for TE way back when, he might've actually made something of himself in that spot
Instead he stuck to his ignorant "I'm a QB", and now he's just too damn old to learn a new position and have any kind of success with it Too late, Tim |
Tebow is a good guy, I doubt he would make the team but would be cool if he did. I don't know why, but I always wanted to see him play. He even won a playoff game with Denver for goodness sakes. He would be called crazy by a lot of people now though

The Kap shit is all over right now. People doing exactly as predicted.
|
I don't know why, but I think Tebow works at TE. Jacksonville doesn't have shit at the position, their most experienced guy is James O'Shaughnessy. It's laughable. Tebow is not coming in and going to become Travis Kelce. He'' he's not going to be a Hayden Hurst either. But can he come in and give you more than James O'Shaughnessy? Yes.
|
Quote:
He should have transitioned to TE like 1-2 years into his NFL, if not immediately. But he wanted to play QB and flamed out. He then embarked on a effort-filled but quixotic quest to mold himself into a MLB player. In short, he seems like an attention seeking dumbass. |

I'm not a super-religious guy by any means, but I do find it ironic that Tebow rubs people the wrong way for that, but yet prefer to cheer on the Rae Carruths, Ray Lewises, Rothlesbergers, and Lawrence Phillipses of the world each sunday who've done some pretty shitty things in their life. |

The guy was arguably one of the best college FB players of all time. |

Let's see -- college standout that never lived up to the hype in the NFL, so he takes his cash and heads off for a baseball gig. Plays 4 seasons of mostly low level minor league ball, career BA of .222. Sure, place your bet on the Jags being SB champs today.

Tebow is not NFL talent. He just isn't and he's only being brought in to be a locker room guy.

The fact that any time his name comes up in any capacity the media starts drooling regarding ratings just gets old very quickly. I actually feel bad for the kid because he's just such a media cash cow and it's really not his fault. It does however get annoying when he's projected to be a potential backup tight end flooding every medium in sports reporting |

Maybe did this for ticket sales.
Tebow is a legend in that area. |
