Glad we keep so many of our guys fir another year. Really thought no chance.

Sofa King 04-11-2020 05:26 PM

I'm really surprised with how many people we've been able to keep. If they find a way to keep Jones and draft well this offseason will be a major win.

ralittleus 04-11-2020 07:08 PM

he forgot Mike Pennell

bobhill 04-12-2020 12:56 AM

Isn't #11 the guy that always drops the pass in the playoffs?

Man, I have a really hard time saying anything negative about D Rob that guy came to play in Patricks very first start in Denver and I think he is a bit of a good luck charm for Patrick as well.

And we have this..

good WR3 or 4

We have Pringle who I think is going take more reps from DRob anhywhoo but if Veach thinks DRob is worth bringing back then I'm not going argue with Brett Veach. DRobinson has made some spectacular plays for us and yes some drops in the playoffs but he is still likable in this offense and maybe he won't have the dropsies in next years playoffs ? I can't predict if he will or wont and neither can you. I still trust in Veach.

RedRaider56 04-12-2020 06:57 AM

Well at least he caught a very important TD pass and will be remembered for doing so

Chiefs don’t have the money to do it right now, but would be good to sign a free agent Safety. We currently have Tyrann Mathieu, Juan Thornhill, Daniel Sorensen, and Armani Watts.

Also we only have 6 Linebackers on the roster in Anthony Hitchens, Damien Wilson, Ben Niemann, Dorian O’Daniel, and two unknowns in Emmanuel Smith, and Darius Harris.

I know we will draft yet, but free agency might help us with these positions too.

tyecopeland 04-12-2020 01:28 PM

Nitpicking here but robinson didnt take a pay cut. I think the insinuation was he might have taken less money to come back to kc but he got a slight raise from last year.

Robinson wasn't even worth the money he was getting.

Fuller, Ogbah, Wisniewski ... 3 significant losses.

Fuller was a quality slot guy. We found out he is also a quality safety.

Wisniewski was our best LG last year.

Ogbah was our best RDE until Suggs was signed.

I really hope we can draft guys who can take their places.

This team is shaping up. What a great offseason.

rabblerouser 04-12-2020 09:42 PM

Signed a badass punter with a mullet.

UK_Chief 04-13-2020 12:32 AM

Dieter thanking his stars he’s pals with Mahomes!

Dunerdr 04-13-2020 06:42 AM

People keep saying Fuller was a good slot corner, but i just remember him getting toasted. Am i way off here? I thought he was 10x more effective as a safety.

Mathieu takes most of the slot reps, it became pretty obvious the Chiefs staff didn't love Fuller as a corner.

Yep, that's what I remember also. A few games were spent cussing him, while playing corner.

Wiz wanted to play for his hometown team, Fuller isn’t worth $10M/year, and we didn’t have the cap space for Ogbah.

C’est la vie. Chiefs had minimal turnover, which will pay huge dividends in a practice-shortened season.

TomBarndtsTwin 04-13-2020 07:58 AM

Yeah, Fuller was not very impressive at slot CB, but seemed to play much better when he was moved over to Thornhill's position. Not better than Thornhill, mind you, but much more impactful there than he was in the slot.

I would have liked to have him back for his versatility, especially with not being sure when Thornhill will be back and 100%, but not at $10 mil. per year. Glad Washington paid that and not us (not that we could have anyway, at the time).

From PFF ranking the best NFL free agents still available -
https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-the-50-...agents-in-2020

I’ve listed 3 players from the PFF list that might help Kansas City Chiefs. (If we get any cap money available)

CB Eli Apple

Quote:

Eli Apple has never quite lived up to expectations – his highest PFF coverage grade in his four-year career sits at just 64.2. He has vast experience playing press-man coverage, though, and wasn't bad in that role this past season. Apple's 0.87 yards allowed per coverage snap in press at outside corner ranked 13th in the NFL in 2019. The 2016 top 10 pick is a reclamation project, but still one man-heavy teams should consider like the Dolphins.
Apple had a 2020,1 year, $6 M deal with the Las Vegas Raiders that fell through. Maybe he would sign a deal like Bashaud Breeland has with the Chiefs?

Other CBs to consider – Logan Ryan, Prince Amukamara, Brandon Carr, Ross Cockrell, Aqib Talib, Tramaine Brock, or Dre Kirkpatrick.

S Tavon Wilson

Quote:

Box safeties aren’t one of the more valuable positions on the field, but Tavon Wilson was pretty good in that role in 2019 as he ranked 25th in PFF grade at that alignment. He played well over half of his snaps at that alignment, but he was actually better when playing deep safety. Not only was his overall grade higher there, but he also was 17th in coverage grade. Going back to the entirety of his time with Detroit, Wilson has always been better when playing deep. Placing Wilson in a two-high scheme and signing him for cheap is not a bad idea
Tavon is 30 years old and played 16 and started 13 games for the Detroit Lions this last season. He had 98 tackles, 1 sack and 5 PDs. In the 9/29/2019 games against the Kansas City Chiefs, Tavon Wilson had 11 tackles.

Other Safeties to consider – Javien Elliott, Reshad Jones, Jahleel Addae, Clayton Geathers, and Tony Jefferson.

LB Nigel Bradham

Quote:

Bradham (30) has earned single-season PFF coverage grades above 73.0 in three of the past four NFL seasons. He’s inconsistent in run defense but athletic enough to fly sideline to sideline and limit opposing backs and tight ends in coverage in the right role.
Other LBs to consider – Mark Barron, and Jake Ryan
