They let Jordan play a game with the flu, which is atleast just add dangerous as this virus.

Silver is by far the best commissioner compared to the others.

The Thunder and Jazz have stopped playing basketball and are now quarantined inside the arena

Steph Curry missed the last couple of games because of the flu but apparently he got tested and doesn't have it. Thank goodness.

Frivolous entertainment and leisure are often the hardest hit in crises like this.
Goods can rebound on a timeline. People hoard, then consume then replenish after the crisis. Entertainment, you go without it for a bit and a lot of people realize that it's not that much of a necessity and just keep abstaining after the crisis. |

That is the new Roger wanting to get the CBA done. The old Roger from a couple of years ago would have banned him for the season. Once the CBA is signed old Roger will return. |

Also LeBron James was among several NBA players who tested positive for the Swine Flu in 2009, yet the NBA continued with its games. |

That is 100% why this is different than all these other viruses and diseases that people keep comparing it to. We aren't all going to die and there's no reason to panic, but this thing has no treatment and you can have it for a week or more and spread it around and not know it. The only way to stop it is to keep people away from other people. |
the Chiefs just pulled their coaches from traveling to pro days. Good for them.
|
Look at the Gobert thing. It's not like you just have to worry about the Thunder, who they were going to play tonight. Every single team, coach and official the Jazz has played the last two weeks may have been exposed to this, and are now possibly contagious and able to spread it to people they've also played against.
I haven't done the math, but with one single person it's theoretically possible the majority of the league has been exposed to the virus. A virus no one has immunity to. |

This could get very very bad. |

I am not saying there isn’t legit concern about the threat of COVID-19, but it is unclear why the reaction to COVID-19 is way more intense than the public response to the Swine Flu pandemic in 2009-2010. The Swine Flu was actually way more deadly among younger people than COVID-19 currently is. Nearly 13,000 Americans died from the Swine Flu pandemic yet the public hysteria never approached what we are seeing now with COVID-19. |

If you’re still downplaying this shit, shame on you.
The thought process seems to be that it’s not so bad because it doesn’t kill many or any young people — it’s like some people could give zero ****s about anyone over 65. It’s killing like 15% of those who are 80+ so far. It’s all good and well until it hits home. |

Influenza killed almost 62,000 people in 2018. This virus is no where close to that. If we use your logic we might as well shut down everything every time someone get the ****ing flu. |
Quote:
This thing has been around 3 months and is just starting to make it's way around the world. How do you know it won't kill more than the typical flu? It might not, but it might. We don't know. There is zero reason to panic and go buy a bunch of toilet paper. But why should you just throw your hands up and not try to contain it? And that doesn't even get into the herd immunity issue. |
If the measures being taken prove effective in mitigating the impacts all the armchair naysayers will say, see, the so called experts were wrong. Such is the state of anti-expertise.
