Bears looking to trade Mack?

Given the state of their offense I cant help but think they'd like a do over on this one. If true I think it has more to do with Trubisky being a bust and having no draft capital or cap space to do much about it than it has to with Mack. Worst O in the league and another year of no 1st rd pick or cap space for impact FA.

2 ones AND 2 twos?

(Falls down laughing)

Mack is 28. They’re nowhere near actually contending.

If they got that type of return, they would be stupid to keep him.

Jewish Rabbi 02-16-2020 01:25 PM

Does Mahomes+Tyreek+Two Firsts get it done?

They wont get that. I doubt they could get what they gave up. It was a dumb trade for them, but at the time they thought Trubisky was the real deal.

Not to mention the acquiring team would be paying Mack a huge salary. Cap hits:

2020 = $26.6 million (age 29)
2021 = $26.6 million (age 30)
2022 = $27.1 million (age 31)
2023 = $25.5 million (age 32)
2024 = $23.2 million (age 33)

ThaVirus 02-16-2020 01:57 PM

I think they’d incur something ridiculous like a $30m dead money hit if they traded him

The Franchise 02-16-2020 02:00 PM

It’s not feasible....from any standpoint. Not happening.

kccrow 02-16-2020 02:22 PM

The Bears aren't in a great position to eat 17.5 million against the cap. With Kyle Long's retirement, they have about 13.6 in cap space.

They'd have to cut Leonard Floyd and one of Allen Robinson, Akiem Hicks, or Prince Amukamara to be serious. Cutting Floyd puts them at 26.6 and less Mack leaves them at 9.1, which largely would be at least half absorbed by the draft class if they get that sort of haul. They'd need space to address free agency and they have 21 FAs.

Cutting a 98 rec 1100+ yd receiver is not the best medicine, so I wouldn't cut Robinson. Hicks got hurt this year, but has been an 8 sack per year guy 3-4 DE in the previous two years. Not a great option either.

Amukamara can clear up 9 million but you're giving up a starting CB, but that would be their primary option. Probably drop Cordarrelle Patterson along with him to gain another 4.75. So really, that's your FA money, about 14 million. Now you have 3 more voids to fill because you lose Floyd, Amukamara, and Patterson.

Trading Mack is foolish IMO. They might not get alot in compensation, but they could probably get something for Floyd and Amukamara to up their draft capital. Send Patterson packing. Use about $30 of the $40 million in cap space and hit free agency and improve the core of the roster.

Radio Lunk Dan Sileo Loses Three Gigs Within A Year

When last we left Dan Sileo, the radio host, who has a tough time not being racist, he was the main attraction on 97.3 The Fan, the San Diego sports radio station that had to quickly rebrand after its original lineup fell apart. He’s since been tossed from three stations including that one, all within this year, which is honestly impressive.

I don't know what's more impressive, being hired three times in a year, or being fired three times in a year, but it's radio, and a guy like that can bring in ratings

The dead money part is something the Bears could work around, but nobody is spending that much on him in a trade.

That and I'm not sold that the Bears are a rebuilding team. There are some FA options for them to work with and the I think they're a playoff contender once they write off tittiekisser.

wow

we have our highly paid Dlinemen. Once we start paying Mahomes we probably have to stick with just one.

They basically went all in to win a championship while Trubisky was on the rookie contract. Unfortunately for the Bears, Trubisky isn't the right guy to lead them.

Bump 02-16-2020 06:49 PM

lol the Bears hoping that someone else makes the same mistake they did. Whoever their GM is should be fired but I'm thankful for that person, they passed on Mahomes hahahahahaha.

You wonder how Nagy really felt about Trubisky prior to taking the job while Nagy was still with the Chiefs. You know he has regrets now I'm sure, because until the GM is fired this guy will continue to make bad moves IMHO and Nagy is stuck not having much say in personnel moves.

What makes me happy is the Chargers passed on Mahomes to take Mike williams. Oh what could have been.

Was he even good last year? I don't remember him making any plays against us.

I really believe that a lot of success of young QBs is how successful the organization that drafted them is at developing QBs. You wonder if Mahomes would have repeated carbon copy these last 2yrs with another organization. Had PM2 not had Smith and Reid would he still been MVP 2018 and still won SB54 being the MVP? Don't get me wrong here, Mahomes IS ALL THAT AND MORE but I think it would have taken him a couple of years longer with another organization while still showing the ALL PRO ability every Sunday.

Red Dawg 02-16-2020 07:19 PM

Gruden must be lauging his ass off. Bears are a dump of a franchise. Stupid decision after stupid decision

He would have been great no matter what. He does things that coaches can't teach. Worst case scenario if he landed on a shit team he would have just became Dan Marino 2.0

Clearly he felt Trubs was “good enough” to get the job done, especially with an incredible defense backing him. Nagy is probably very confident in his own ability to get solid QB performance no matter who the guy is. Problem is Nagy ain’t Coach Reid. Nagy is not a top notch QB whisperer.

Having said the above, Nagy getting paid the big money nowadays. Hard to turn that down.

Trubisky's mental processing is shit.

That ain't gonna change.

Hoover 02-16-2020 08:32 PM

And this is why you got sign Jones to a long term deal

scho63 02-17-2020 01:21 PM

What a debacle this will be if they trade Mack after going up to get Mitch

gblowfish 02-17-2020 01:49 PM

Mitch the Bitch has the same field vision that Casshole had. Which is to say, not good.

Hoover 02-17-2020 01:50 PM

I think if you are the Bears you just have to make Mack work.

Its already been reported that they want to move Leonard Floyd to same money.
