Jesus ****ing Christ this looks like a legit contender to be one of the worst movies of all time. What the **** is Jim Carrey thinking?!? LMAO |

Jim Carey just comes across as one of those celebrities desperately trying to stay relevant by any means. That looks awful.
|
The character itself looks pretty terrifying.

Sonic looks awful.
|
This didn't need a movie......EVER.
|
Just like the movie, did this thread need to exist?.... Jim Carrey will be the only bright spot of the movie, like Kickass 2.
|
This looks so bad it could be awesome

Thanks for the jinx, dicks. I had never heard of this dumpster fire of a movie until I clicked on this thread yesterday. This morning both my kids told me how badly they want to see Sonic the movie. No way that’s a coincidence, it’s not out for 6 months.
|
Wow. They are going to redesign Sonic. I am all for it....
@fowltown: Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear... you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be... #sonicmovie #gottafixfast [emoji373][emoji3577] |
Sonic is one of those franchises just running on fumes.

I could never get into anything Sonic beyond Sega Genesis.
Those first couple were awesome, though, and the sounds are iconic. I can hear the Green Zone theme song, the speed ball, and getting close to drowning warning in my head like I'm 5 years old again. I've actually had the sonic ring sound as my text tone for months now. |

70% on Rotten Tomatoes with 63 reviews. Very surprised.
I'll probably take my kid to see it. How huge was the Sonic character remake now. Critics Consensus Fittingly fleet and frequently fun,*Sonic the Hedgehog*is a video game-inspired adventure the whole family can enjoy -- and a fine excuse for Jim Carrey to tap into the manic energy that launched his career. |
|
I'm halfway convinced that first trailer was designed to be as awful as possible so they could go back and 'fix' it for publicity.

"Hey, man, I didn't want to be the one to have to tell you this, but...they're making a Sonic the Hedgehog movie." "Oh God....oh Jesus God no..." " Just kidding, buddy. Your wife and children were devoured by a pack of rabid dogs though. " "whew - that's a relief." |
Just got back from seeing it with the fam. Really enjoyed it.
|
It's actually doing pretty good business.

I feared for the worst going in, but I’d heard good early returns so I was hopeful. There ended up being a number of genuine laugh out loud moments that kept me every bit as entertained as the kids. There are some slow parts in the beginning where the kiddos lost focus but then it picked up. Also, there’s a mid credits scene so don’t leave right away. Edit: I probably should say that my enjoyment of the movie is relative to the fact that it’s a PG, popcorn, kiddo flick that I had no expectations of liking. I'm not saying it’s some great movie, but it’s certainly better than it has any right to be. |

Grandkids said the loved it.

Jim Carrey has turned into one old bitter man, kinda like Prison Bitch with acting skills.

If I told you how it happened you wouldn’t believe it. |
Took the 6 year old to see it. It was surprisingly good.
|
It was good, not great, not bad, just good. Easter eggs were fun to see in real time, definitely made with love to the original material.
|
LMAO Not out of the realm of possibility that The Rock voices Knuckles in the sequel.
|
The movie was released early to Digital this week and since I wasn't able to take my kids to see it in the theater, I purchased it this week.
It was way better and quite a bit more "adult" than I expected. Even my 6th Grader, who wasn't really all that interested in it liked it quite a bit more than expected. My 2nd Grader loved it, but she loves almost everything. All of the performances were really good, especially James Mardsen, who I've always thought was a below average actor because he always seemed to me like he was "acting". But he was really natural in this role. Jean-Ralphio was the perfect choice for Sonic, IMO, and it's set up to be a long running franchise, as long as Paramount doesn't go all Paramount with it. |
