can Mahomes throw for 350 yards per game this season

Can he average 350 per game over 16 games ?

Perineum Ripper 07-08-2018 12:43 PM

Can he-yes

Will he-no

ChiliConCarnage 07-08-2018 12:43 PM

If Reid benches him at halftime every game he might only throw for tree fitty.

BossChief 07-08-2018 12:48 PM

That’s 5600 yards...

I think 280 is realistic and even that’s 4500 yards

PM holds the record at 5477 I believe

This is PMII we're talking about.

Hog's Gone Fishin 07-08-2018 12:57 PM

His last year at TT he threw for 5022 in 12 games. 421 Avg.

TLO 07-08-2018 12:57 PM

I voted no, but depending on how the defense pans out, he might have to throw for 350+ per game just to keep up.

lcarus 07-08-2018 01:02 PM

Considering no one has ever averaged 350 ypg throughout a single season, I'm gonna say no. But in the future once he gets the consistency down, who knows what he can do.

Rain Man 07-08-2018 01:05 PM

So roughly 5,600 yards?

Sure.

oldman 07-08-2018 01:07 PM

I voted yes, but not this year. He's got a lot of learning yet to do, but I believe the potential is there. If he does 275 per game and keeps his TD/INT ratio 3:1, I think we'll win a lot of games, including post season.

Peyton Manning only averaged 318 his last year in college

PMII beat him by more than 100 yards per game

Trent Green has the Chiefs record with 4591 . I should have made the poll on if he beats that but I wanted to know if he sets the all time record his first year.

I like that you're dreaming big. I appreciate the optimism.

Buehler445 07-08-2018 02:22 PM

Yes. But he won't.

Reid will probably outsmart everybody by running 80% of the time. Because Chiefs.

Bowser 07-08-2018 02:36 PM

He'll throw for all the yards and score all the points and bang all the girls and do all the things

Come on. Reid is a great play caller. If you need 10 yards, there's nobody you can count on more for a better play to get you 7 or 8.

dj56dt58 07-08-2018 03:23 PM

This is why the Chiefs don't draft qbs..this fan base doesn't have the patience to develop one. The guy has played in one meaningless game, getting ready to play his first season as a starter, basically a rookie, and we're talking about him throwing for 5600 yards in a season..

If Patrick doesn't light the world on fire right away, this fan base will run him out of town and we'll be back to retreads at qb every year

How? Pretty sure the only thing that matters is what the coach thinks

**** no!

I'm on record as saying I'm good with whatever as long as I get a few "Holy shit!" throws.

Red Dawg 07-08-2018 04:05 PM

Hell yes he can. 300 per game easy.

Jewish Rabbi 07-08-2018 04:15 PM

Why did you choose such an easy target? I would have made the poll at least 450 if you want people to go out on a limb.

jaa1025 07-08-2018 04:17 PM

I'd be happy with 250 a game which would put him at 4000. That's a more realistic goal in my opinion.

4000 yard rookie QB's and 1st year stats for some notable 1st round QB's that sat.
Winston 4042 yards
Luck 4374 yards
Newton 4051 yards

Palmer (sat rookie season) 2897 yards for 13 games 222.8 ypg
Eli Manning (sat some of rookie year) first full year, 3762 yards
Rivers (sat 2 years) 3388 yards in first full season
Rodgers (sat 3 years) 4038 yards first full season
Cutler (sat most 1st year) 3497 yards first full season.

Even if he ends up being the best QB in NFL history with his best season next year he won't reach 350 a game, especially under Reid. Reid is notorious for going ultra conservative with a lead. So if he's throwing the ball, getting yards, scoring TD's in the first half and we get a lead then look for us to run...a lot, in the 2nd round.

teedubya 07-08-2018 04:17 PM

Does he look like Football Jesus or something? I've not been keeping up. There is a metric ****ton of optimism about this guy on this thread. This doesn't bode well, historically speaking. LOL

PAChiefsGuy 07-08-2018 04:30 PM

Manning played in the SEC, Mahomes played in the Big 12. I don't think I need to spell it out any more for you.

KChiefs1 07-08-2018 05:35 PM

I think he will do close to 300 per game. I’m predicting 4500 yards.

RaidersOftheCellar 07-08-2018 07:16 PM

In all seriousness, it wouldn't surprise me if he does this in the coming years, given the supporting cast. But this year, I'd say 300 tops.

The game wasn't meaningless. Without it, Smith is still a Chief.

It will be the Smith crowd that won't allow him to make the mistakes. Not the fans who have waited their whole lifetime for something like this.

350 is a bit on the optimistic side. Cmon, he's a second year player that has started 1 whole game.

Rausch 07-09-2018 08:11 AM

If he does that's not good for us.

That means a lot of possessions, likely a lot of bad defense on our part, and a need to score pts.

I think if Hunt is in the top 5 in rushing again we're looking at 9 or more wins...

Hog's Gone Fishin 07-09-2018 09:16 AM

Break the all-time single season passing yard record in his first year as a starter? Lets pump the brakes slightly here folks.

InChiefsHeaven 07-09-2018 09:54 AM

He had 284 yards plus 1 INT and sat out a couple of series on the road in December against a division rival against their number 1 D (for awhile anyway).

Those are damn good numbers. I'd expect more of that, 250 to 290 per game with a few above that. Let's not crown his ass yet fellas. What I really want to see is a QB who's having fun and is fun as hell to watch, some Holy SHIT moments and more wins than losses for his first year as a starter.

Not too much to ask.

Just think about it. He didn't have Hill, Watkins or Hunt. He was handing the ball to Anthony Sherman.

Oh, this is gonna be fun all right.

Oh wait , he did have Hunt for one rush of 30 yards. Endzone got in the way.

lcarus 07-09-2018 10:21 AM

Let's be real here for a second. If he throws for around 4,000 yards and gets 20 TDs, it will be a successful first season. There's gonna be some growing pains. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have huge success in his first starting season, but realistically I expect some "learning moments".

350 per game? So he only needs 5 completions a game...oh yeah. He can do that.

How is "yes, but not this year" an option as an answer to can he throw 350 yards per game THIS year?

Can you give me a ride right now? Yes, but not today.

Halfcan 08-18-2018 10:42 AM

https://www.pro-football-reference.c...on-passing.htm

With 1 game last year- Mahomes already ranks 101 on the Single Season passing list. He passed 107 guys up.

To break Trent Green's record of 4591- Mahomes will have to pass for more than 286.9 yards per game.

Basically, if he throws for 287 yards a game- he will have the record. 3 more yards than his game last year missing 2 series against Denver.

He scores touchdowns too easily to throw for that many yards. I know that doesn't make sense but it seems to work out that way.
