Brain Tumor

So, that shit is fun.

Started having some really cool and powerful deja-vu at work on Tuesday, then a strong ominous feeling set in and then started seeing small, flashing rainbow colored lights under the brim of my hat. Figured that it was either a premonition about an earthquake (like animals get) as Salt Lake City sits on a fault line, either that or I was hitting a major fatigue wall as I had been working long hours and had been hitting the gym pretty hard while not getting as much sleep as required in addition to cutting carbs from the diet. Anyway, I got a little freaked out, went to the bakery, grabbed a croissant and detoured it and everything kinda went back to normal.

Later on, started getting the deja-vu again (and it was super good shit - like I was seeing the future and shit - and it even had a soundtrack going along with it), and that's about all I can remember. Apparently I turned to the guy next to me, said something about tripping my balls off massively and told him I was going to puke, then my eyes rolled back into my head and I passed out and hit the floor like a sack of potatoes.

Came to with the EMT dude holding a ice pack to the back of my mellon on a huge goose egg. They were going to call an ambulance to take me to the ER and I told them it was nothing and I was fine. Fortunately the HR guy was standing there and convinced me to go to the ER. When I got there they did a CT scan to check for concussion probabilities.

Dude came back into the room with the radiologist and said "Um, bad news. There is a mass in the right side of your brain and we want to do an MRI for more detail."

"Well, shit."

So they did that and sure enough, there is a golf ball sized mass sitting there with a bunch of fluid around it. Nuerosurgeon (chief resident who looks like he's 17, comes in and says that they want to schedule surgery on Friday morning. Okies.

So, I'm sitting here in the Neurology wing of the University of Utah hospital (which is highly regarded) worrying about these guys going to the Utah/Michigan game tonight and coming back into surgery tomorrow hungover as shit.

Bonus is, I've had two really hot nurses in a row the past two nights. Tried to convince both to give me a leisure massage and body shampoo, but they didn't go for it though I had a girl from work come by last night to visit who wanted to give me a hummer.

Anyway, I'm feeling pretty fortunate that shit went down the way it did, because I most likely would have blown it off for ever until it became really bad. (Although, I am going to ask them if it's benign if they can just keep it in there because I was digging the deja-vu bordering on omnipotence.)

Also I hear that the chief neurosurgeon is totally old school and I think I saw him sharpening his hacksaw on a rusty pipe outside and telling the nurse that she should find his favorite spoon.

The Franchise 09-03-2015 10:06 AM

I'm really sorry to hear that man. Recover quickly so you can draftabulate with us next offseason. Ask the neurosurgeon if there is a cure for your love of all things offensive line while you are there.

Fish 09-03-2015 10:15 AM

We really need to ease up on the antifreeze around here.

Chromatic 09-03-2015 10:17 AM

At least you got a couple of good visions out of the deal.

Also, at least this thing seems to be treatable and there is stuff they can do. That's a good sign.

Good vibes to you, dude.

Kman34 09-03-2015 10:20 AM

Did the Nurses have high thigh bones???? Just Kidding bud...Good thoughts heading your way... Good luck Friday...

Saccopoo 09-03-2015 10:21 AM

RealSNR 09-03-2015 10:21 AM

Wow. So you're saying even the healthcare providers in Utah have off-the-chart measurables? Big surprise, homer.

Get well soon so I can go back to seeing you rip guys apart during draft season!

Rain Man 09-03-2015 10:22 AM

All the best with this bro

BigMeatballDave 09-03-2015 10:25 AM

I didn't have any Deja vu stuff going on, but after surgery, both times, my mind was digging up old childhood memories long since forgotten.

Bob Dole 09-03-2015 10:26 AM

Hog's Gone Fishin 09-03-2015 10:29 AM

You've got about the best outlook someone could have with a giant ****ing tumor man.

"Do you have to take it out? I like tripping balls."
Awesome

Hang in there my man.

BigMeatballDave 09-03-2015 10:43 AM

They won't know for certain for like 2 weeks after surgery what the cancer is. Really hope it's not Glioblastoma. This is what mine were.

Titty Meat 09-03-2015 10:47 AM

Wow sorry to hear kick it's ass bro

chiefs1111 09-03-2015 10:49 AM

Good luck too you.

duncan_idaho 09-03-2015 10:49 AM

Sacc-

Hope this is benign and they're able to get everything.

My best friend had a childhood brain tumor and has had several surgeries to deal with it. If you end up needing additional treatment, look into the neurosurgery group in Little Rock, ARK. They're world leaders and fixed him up beautifully.

Chicks dig scars, man. Thoughts with you as you go through all of this.

the Talking Can 09-03-2015 11:01 AM

well, shit

sending you positive thoughts, sorry you have to go through it

Iowanian 09-03-2015 11:15 AM

I'm beginning to think CP is bad for one's health....

Best of Luck in your endeavors.

If you start telekinesis and opening books with your mind, I will demand your username be changed to George Malley.

Still didn't get the hummer.

Then again, he might have been hallucinating that too.

After my brother had brain surgery he became a guy who knew what he wanted to say and unable to get it all the way out of his mouth. I wonder if he got back memories he'd forgotten about...

Not that you'd want anyone to ever go through it, but stories like this are what make scary things like brain surgery so interesting...

Bewbies 09-03-2015 11:38 AM

I'll see if I can pull some strings and get Russell Okung to swing by and wish you well. :)

All the best Sacc, go kick this things ass!

Halfcan 09-03-2015 11:42 AM

Best wishes to a speedy recovery!!

srvy 09-03-2015 11:45 AM

ChiliConCarnage 09-03-2015 11:49 AM

Whoa, best of luck with the surgery, Sacc. You seem to be taking the news incredibly well!

wazu 09-03-2015 11:51 AM

Sorry to hear. Feels weird to pray for a guy I only know as "Saccapoo", but I will. You can beat this, man.

Smed1065 09-03-2015 11:52 AM

Thoughts sent, Godspeed.

Rausch 09-03-2015 11:56 AM

It's all random. There is no "game plan."

You get your 'blastoma isolated and you get a prognosis.

If you aren' being treated by the VA you have a MUCH better chance of survival.

If you are seek medicare/medicaid etc.

If you can't consult anyone and everyone to find aid.

Depending on diagnosis you have a ton of options...

NinerDoug 09-03-2015 12:01 PM

I can see you are the type that doesn't let anything get you down. Good luck. Sounds like you will come through it and be fine.

Bowser 09-03-2015 12:12 PM

Well shit, Sacc. Positive vibes headed your way. Hang in there, man. And get co-worker up there to service you post haste. See if one of the nurses would get in on that action, too.

KCwolf 09-03-2015 12:17 PM

Great attitude ... Good Luck and speedy recovery Sacc

Sully 09-03-2015 12:19 PM

Prayers to you and your care givers.

go bo 09-03-2015 12:30 PM

best of luck to you...

Dunit35 09-03-2015 12:32 PM

Good luck and best wishes.

Lost my step dad last year to a brain tumor. The VA finally, recently, did him and my mother right. Gave my mom $17k and a monthly stipend. 14 months later.

Lonewolf Ed 09-03-2015 12:32 PM

I pray you have a full recovery and the best care.

Any pics of this girl? I assume "wanted to give" means she didn't give and we need to be able to judge how bad of a decision you made.

Pasta Little Brioni 09-03-2015 01:47 PM

Wipe your corn hole bud

Ming the Merciless 09-03-2015 01:48 PM

Hey man, so sorry to hear you are going through this. Glad they were able to catch it.

One awesome thing is that we live in a pretty good age for medicine...

about 2 months ago, my 2nd son was being born and there were some complications and the doctors amazed me with the technology and what they can do.

You're in good hands, and sounds like a pretty good state of mind.

Maybe when you are all patched up and well, and you come to the realization that you want to be a hippie and live your life in tie-die in a commune, and you are wandering around northern california (tripping but not from a brain tumor)....I can buy you a beer and give you a ride or a 20 spot.

Best of luck and thoughts/prayers going out your way.

Kaepernick 09-03-2015 02:06 PM

Prayers up. One of my best friends had 2 separate surgeries to remove tumors in his brain -- neither one malignant. He is one of the most brilliant minds I know and those surgeries didn't harm his genius brain one iota.

Here is assuming your tumor is benign, and like him you will return to 100%. Sucks to have no hair for a while, but it is a small price to be back to normal.

Prayers for you.

Mr. Flopnuts 09-03-2015 02:11 PM

Best wishes bro.
