Trash comp

Sassy Squatch 03-22-2024 08:55 PM

2025 3rd and 2024 7th round pick swap. What an abysmal trade.

Fishels 03-22-2024 08:56 PM

That is not what I was hoping for

Dante84 03-22-2024 08:56 PM

Basically a fourth rounder and to a team in the AFC. That blows.

rydogg58 03-22-2024 08:56 PM

Well that's...not the return I would have liked it to be.

nychief 03-22-2024 08:56 PM

That is some old bullshit. Should have just kept him.

RealSNR 03-22-2024 08:58 PM

I swear every NFL team agreed to not trade with us unless we got ass ****ed.

Goddamn bullshit. They never did this to the patriots

jerryaldini 03-22-2024 08:58 PM

Wow just read an article 5 hours ago that said the Titans had agreed on a second round pick but couldn't meet his salary demands. Veach must have plans for that cap space so let's see what he does with it.

4th and Long 03-22-2024 08:59 PM

Trading him to the flaming meatballs? In Veach we trust?

Molitoth 03-22-2024 08:59 PM

In Burt I trust.

louie aguiar 03-22-2024 09:00 PM

Shocked that’s all we could get

Buns 03-22-2024 09:00 PM

He’s off the books. Let Veach cook and get ready for the 3-peat.

Sneed’s market sucked. It was mentioned that no team offered a 2nd for him. Sure looks like that report was true and Brett took the best available offer

Coochie liquor 03-22-2024 09:01 PM

We have no LT, we have Thuney who’s injury status we don’t know. I love Sneed, but we have pressing issues to deal with for the threepeat.

DaFace 03-22-2024 09:01 PM

Well, thats... underwhelming. Is what it is, though. In Veach we trust.

rfaulk34 03-22-2024 09:01 PM

Vartch strikes again!!!111!1!!1!

Master class, i tells ya!

Hell, if i knew he was going that cheap, i have half a king sized Reese's cup left over i would have given for him.

Sassy Squatch 03-22-2024 09:01 PM

Really needed the cap for a bum ass LT and some scrubmuffin roster filler I guess.

Graystoke 03-22-2024 09:01 PM

Was hoping it would be better.

Ming the Merciless 03-22-2024 09:01 PM

lame.

welp.

was kinda hoping we could keep him on the tag for one more run

oh well. I liked Sneed a lot.

not sure why we didn't get more...

Buehler445 03-22-2024 09:02 PM

Goddamn.

That sucks.

It's possible his knee isn't good.

RunKC 03-22-2024 09:02 PM

Also LMAO at Dianna Russini saying the Chiefs would “for sure” get a 1st.

Neat. Then play him for the year and let him **** off in 2025.

louie aguiar 03-22-2024 09:02 PM

His knee and age really hurt his market value

KC_Connection 03-22-2024 09:02 PM

Disappointing return but let’s see what the plan for that money is.

smithandrew051 03-22-2024 09:03 PM

Pretty weak comp. I was fully in favor of trading him, but even I’m underwhelmed by that.

I guess the additional cap space is nice.

I’ll have to just assume there’s more to this story.

Dante84 03-22-2024 09:03 PM

Why not keep him on the tag this year, and get a comp pick in 26?

This does nothing for us this year except $20MM more in cap as we head into the 3rd wave of Free Agency.

I mean, trust in Veach, but I’m confused. Do we just early sign next years guys? Is there a trade incoming?

Because of his salary/contractual demands. Too greedy. Highest paid corner in the league??? He's never been an All-pro or pro-bowler even. Plus knee concern.

From Chiefs end, he was traded for cap space.

Urc Burry 03-22-2024 09:03 PM

Yeah that’s an L for Veach. Missed out on free agency for more or less the comp pick we would have gotten for him had he not been tagged

ChiTown 03-22-2024 09:04 PM

Yikes…I knew it would be a low ball deal, but that seems REALLY bad. Oh well, let’s take that money and start filling holes

In58men 03-22-2024 09:04 PM

Veach doesn’t make bad trades this will work itself out

Probably because we need a LT and other depth and we didn’t have much room with his contract on the books

DJ's left nut 03-22-2024 09:04 PM

Wow.

That's just an awful return.

****ing hell. I'd have just rescinded the tag and hoped he signed in the NFC just to do the guy a solid before I accepted that deal. Thats offensively horrible.

TwistedChief 03-22-2024 09:05 PM

I thought they lost leverage when they signed Jones after tagging Sneed. I didn’t think they lost this much leverage.

But this was the market and they clearly never had any intention of having Sneed play on the tag. They gambled and lost.

If you trust Veach as I do, you move on here. But wow, not satisfying at all.

Another example of Veach sucking at big name trades. He must've been desperate to unload the tag number, probably to sign a free agent LT.

Maybe bring back Donovan smith? It’s pretty thin at this point.

Bump 03-22-2024 09:07 PM

not great value but it is what it is. When you have the quarterback you just can't pay everyone and we grow DB's on trees here in KC.

He got a great return for Tyreek

ChiefsCountry 03-22-2024 09:07 PM

Chiefs got his best years. We won the trade. He is 27. The CP overreaction planet strikes once again.

In58men 03-22-2024 09:07 PM

We’ll have plenty of cap room now and fire power if we wanna move up in the draft.

Don’t doubt Veach when it comes to trade. Knee-jerk reactions aren’t healthy.

Yup.

If this was the best he could do, he could've done it 3 weeks ago.

This is an L. And a fairly bad one at that.

He overplayed his hand and then blinked.

Not from the initial Jets offer which he had agreed to. More like luck that Miami jumped in and overpaid.

Fire power? It’s essentially a 4th round pick in this draft. Are we moving up half a spot in the first round?

Should have made this trade at the start of free agency to take advantage of having extra salary cap space.

Veach waited in the hopes that a trade market would develop for Sneed… and that never materialized.

Rescinding the tag is dirty pool, that's a good way to get a bad rep with players...hey we'll hold you when teams are paying big dollars then release you after.

His knee has been a problem since July. Swelling and aggravation. On the injury report throughout the year but played through it.

I think his knee really dropped his value. Teams didn’t want to pay him a lot and give up high assets for that risk

AusChief 03-22-2024 09:11 PM

Embarrassing trade. 3rd year in a row with a sub par FA period that has blown a huge headwind for this team. How was that not done two weeks ago before every FA was signed.

Lucky Veach can draft players. (& has Mahomes).

Mecca 03-22-2024 09:12 PM

Apparently Sneeds value wasn't that great.

jerryaldini 03-22-2024 09:12 PM

Not sure if it was posted here but earlier today an article cited the Athletic saying the Titans had agreed to a 2nd (didn't say year) but fell apart when Sneed wouldn't budge on salary. Man this is a huge dropoff. Will be interesting to see what he got.

Chiefs have cash and Mahomes. We’ll be just fine.

You have to remember Sneed broke his collarbone, had a concussion and has a nagging knee issue. Veach took what he could and saved us hella money.

I’m not mad at all

Dante84 03-22-2024 09:13 PM

Like it’s so bad that I feel like there has to be a second step to this.

Just extend Bolton/Creed now so the cap is easier next year?

Bl00dyBizkitz 03-22-2024 09:13 PM

Wow.

Only explanation I can think of is his knee is worse than we think or maybe Sneed wasn't going to play on the Tag?

Why not just keep him for the 3peat run?
