Wow! That’s an interesting trade.
I need Duncan’s thoughts on this one. I guess it’s better than what the Royals got for Hosmer & Cain? |
69 wins is my prediction!

The Indians in 18 months traded Francisco Lindor, Trevor Bauer, Mike Clevinger, Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco and the returns don't even have their farm system in the top 10. More like 12-14 range like they were last year Also their top prospects are still a few years away besides McKenzie and maybe Nolan Jones. Overall it's not good. |
I don't know any way to say this other than...
The Indians are the 1990s Chiefs. It's all about extending being good/decent and they have never gone ALL IN to find pieces to fit their team and complete a championship roster. And they keep trading off stars for high-floor guys at or near the big leagues. I mean, if you're going to trade Lindor, you need to get at least 1 top 50 prospect type. Rosario has aged out of that, and Gimenez never was that. The trade market sucks in general because everyone is hoarding their prospects to a stupid degree. It's frustrating. I'll get some prospect stuff worked up for KC soon. |

I just read on Twitter that the international signing period will start next week on January 15th, rather than the usual July 2. I'm curious what IFAs we may be linked to.

They pushed it back from last July, so there will be older guys signing than normal. The Royals are linked to Daniel Vazquez, who is a top 15 talent. He’s a SS with a lot of projectability and the D to stick. Currently is regarded as a good contact hitter who may develop power as he fills out. |

"If" it all comes together? 80 - 85 wins Good Stepping stone season ? 72 - 79 wins If we sustain a lot of injuries? 65 - 71 wins IMHO based off last years strong finish, I think we come without the bad start like last year, finish with a 72 to 79 win season. Not what we want but a good building block for the 22 season. |
Wade Davis coming back is an interesting story and I hope for Wade and the Royals, he can have some success.
It has been since 2018 though that Wade Davis been any good. His last two seasons in Colorado have been pretty bad and even 2018 wasn't that good. Wade Davis Stats - https://www.baseball-reference.com/p...aviswa01.shtml Low cost minor league deal, so it is worth checking him out. Kelvin Herrera is still a free agent. . |
So Royals have now signed former Royals pitchers, Mike Minor, Ervin Santana, Greg Holland, and now Wade Davis.
I would not mind bringing back Trevor Rosenthal. |

Witt is going to be my #1 guy. Lacy and Lynch and Pena will follow. Such a weird year to look at prospects. So much of what we normally can reference was all behind closed doors last season. |
Contact-hitting extraordinaire. Porous walk rate though, and a lot of low-quality contact, but a true asset against southpaws.

Well, there’s that LH OF bat the Royals been wanting. Good buy low candidate on a down year, still only 26. Also getting money to cover his contract. Hopefully we didn’t give up too much prospect capital, but I like the move on the surface.
That lineup is looking pretty strong for 2021. |
That deal has Khalil Lee going to the Mets and Franchy Cordero to Boston.

Lee is a great athlete but he does have some serious hit tool questions.
