Top 100 from Pricksco.

2. Chris Jones: He is a game-wrecker for any defense and the Chiefs would be wise to keep him. Jones said he wants to come back, but if he hits the market he will be a top target for a lot of teams.

6. L'Jarius Sneed: He is a shutdown corner who can lock up the other team's best receiver. The market for that talent will be high if the Chiefs don't keep him around. Watch the Super Bowl to see his value.

43. Willie Gay Jr.: He's been a good starter on their defense the past four seasons, but he is not expected back. He said he doesn't expect to be back. He has 47 starts in his career and he just turned 26 in February.

84. Drue Tranquill: He signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs and was expected to be mostly a backup. But injuries forced him to get more time and he played well. He has good coverage ability for a linebacker, which is a must these days.

89. Michael Danna: He can play outside and can rush from the interior, which is the versatility teams love. He isn't a great edge player, but he's a nice rotational player who has been a starter.

The rest....

Thank you, good sir.

Jonnu Smith is being released.

And thus starts the "sign everyone" season!

Think before you speak everyone!

dlphg9 02-27-2024 02:30 PM

Sucks that Tranquill was forced into so much playing time. If we wouldn't have had so many injuries at LB, then we probably bring him back on another decent deal.

tyton75 02-27-2024 02:37 PM

I still think we bring Tranquil back on a decent deal

I mean, did he show MORE with us than he did with his last season with the Chargers? I don't think so. I can't imagine his market will be unaffordable.

pugsnotdrugs19 02-27-2024 02:43 PM

Tranquill for 2-years $10m feels like a lock.

staylor26 02-27-2024 02:52 PM

Just like they aren't losing Jones AND Sneed, they aren't losing Gay AND Tranquill.

I change my mind about every hour, but right now I think:

Sign Jones
Tag/Trade Sneed
Gay walks
Sign Tranquil

Sassy Squatch 02-27-2024 03:17 PM

Going to be a pretty nice influx of RB talent on the market. Henry, Ekeler, Jacobs, and Barkley all on the market potentially. Wonder if the Chiefs look into any of them.

I thought I read something that Ekeler was playing through injury after he came back last year which could explain him looking less than stellar... I doubt it'll happen, but I'd love a 1 year prove-it deal with Mahomes feeding him the football on swings and screens so he can rebuild value...

Sassy Squatch 02-27-2024 03:19 PM

Wouldn't hurt my feelings if Tranquilly called up his old buddy Ekeler and convinced him to come here on a short deal.

Eckler as an upgrade to Mckinnon for the right price wouldn't be bad. But hes still a name and may price himself out.

Very true, I don't think it's realistic, but perhaps he REAAAALLLYY wants to win a ring.

But we will see. It'd be great to have him here though!

I don't know how because he's was AWFUL this year.

Like I don't even know if I'd want him bad.

Yeah pass. I'd rather draft another young one.

Ekeler? Nah. He's cooked.

If you want a FA RB, Swift or Moss or JK Dobbins.

IDK. With Pacheco being the only active roster guy coming back, and 4 PS guys in Perine, Ingram, Prince, and Hall coming back, You could get a vet like Ekeler in that room and still draft a guy (unless you think Prince can get on the active roster next year as RB3).

It wouldn't surprise me if we got a solid vet as our RB2.

Swift and Moss sure (though I think both will be more expensive than we'll pay for)

Dobbins = No. Guy makes Eric Berry look like he's the epitome of availability.

Personally, I want to be able to rely on RB2 if we have to get in that situation where we have to. Not pray to the football gods that he doesn't have a 3rd muscle tear in 3 years because his muscle fibers are like tissue paper. I have no problem taking a chance on players rebounding from injury, but not when over half their career so far has been on the IR and inactive list.

MahomesMagic 02-27-2024 03:50 PM

I want to sign one very good FA WR and a few value picks.

Guys like Noah Brown, Darius Slayton, and Duvernay could possibly go dirt cheap under 5.

Just the first 2 guys could have been our #1 #2 and #3 at points last year.

Yup.

This offense leaned on Kelce and Pacheco and if either break, we break.

We need insurance against either.

Dobbins had a bright future coming out but he's all used up. Nothing but reconstructed tendons now. And he looked like shit before he got hurt.

For DT I want Maurice Hurst on a cheap prove it deal. Been plugging this in the draft forum and i won't stop.

Look this probably bullshit, but I saw a report that there might be a block buster deal involving multiple of our picks.

Like two 1sts etc plus other 2nds

Again probably bullshit, but it’s swirling rumor mill for Justin Jefferson

THIS is the most probable outcome, but I hope we can get a deal done with Sneed. We all know he wants to stay in KC for next year's Super Bowl run! ...might be the best timeline ever for having this leverage considering both our star defenders are up for contacts. Veach!

Bet Sneed is still around IMHO. Cant always 3-peat with rookies every-year. Not may chances in the NFL for a 3-peat is all.

Before Dobbins signs anywhere he'd have to go through medicals so I doubt he'd get through that if he was washed up. I'd personally like to see Veach give him a look. Gibson and Moss are also other guys to consider. There are loads of vet RB's out there and not all of them can get big deals so we should expect to see one come in judging by Veach's track record.

Williams
Bell
Jones
Mckinnon
Ingram

Have all been brought in over the last five years. So it's just a matter of which one will it be?

I loved Dobbins in the draft.

Too many injuries and I don't think he will ever regain form.

Give me Pollard. We need better Pacheco insurance at RB, not some other team's discards who we can get anyway for free.

Mckinnon had a bad injury history too but it's worked out well for us. Imo Dobbins is too good a talent to just ignore. Especially if we can get him on a cheap deal.

Any chance we get Donovan Smith back on a similar deal to last year? I had in my head that he was ancient but I've just seen he's only 30. He's not exactly elite but he's very good value for money at $3m.

I’m sure he will want to get paid.

If he’s still available after the draft, I’m positive they will have another deal in place for him to be part of the 3 peat. I’m sure someone will want him at more than we can pay, though.

I’m kinda amazed to see how many Chiefs people are excited about the possibility of Mike Evans.

When I’m over here thinking… nah. Hell no.

If you’re gonna spend that kind of money, keep Sneed + Chris. But a 30 y/o WR who could and likely will lose a step? Makes no sense.

And once he loses a step, it’s over.

He already has a ring, but no way he’s gonna take the minimal deal we would insult him with.

If you’re gonna spend that kind of money, keep Sneed + Chris. But a 30 y/o WR who could and likely will lose a step? Makes no sense.

He looked great in 2023. I'm not a big fan of Evans, but the tape didn't lie. Outside of his drop rate, he played extremely well and fast all season and in the playoffs.

Sidenote: JR80 had 8 or 9 1,000 yard seasons after 30. TO had 6. So this "he's turning 30," thing isn't that big a deal.

Not that it matters; we aren't going to be able to come up with the $$$ anyway. hearing he wants close to $30 million/yr.
