K.C. CHIEFS' FRANK CLARK
ARRESTED
... Cops Say NFL Star Had Uzi In Lambo SUV

Quote:

NFL star pass rusher Frank Clark -- one of the best defensive players in the league -- was arrested Sunday after cops say he had an uzi in his Lambo SUV ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us Clark was pulled over for a routine traffic stop Sunday evening in Los Angeles ... when cops say they noticed an open duffle bag in his ride.

Our sources say officers saw the gun inside the bag ... and arrested the 28-year-old for felony illegal possession of a firearm.

The Kansas City Chiefs superstar is still behind bars in the Los Angeles area, jail records show.

According to the records, Clark -- listed at 6'3", 255 pounds -- was arrested at 9:20 p.m. ... and was booked into jail hours later at 9:28 a.m. Monday.

We've reached out to Clark and the Chiefs for comment ... but so far, no word back yet.

Clark was a key piece in the Chiefs' runs to the Super Bowls the last two years ... after being traded from Seattle to Kansas City before the 2019 season, Clark logged 14 sacks in 26 starts and was great in postseason play too.

In fact, Clark was so good for the Chiefs since joining the team ... he was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his 2 seasons on the squad.

Of course, this is not Clark's first brush with legal trouble ... you'll recall, he was arrested in 2014 after being accused of domestic violence -- and was kicked off the Univ. of Michigan football team over it all.

Clark eventually struck a deal with prosecutors in that case, agreeing to plead guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Clark is currently in the middle of a 5-year, $104 MILLION contract with the Chiefs.

Story developing ...

What are these guys doing in their off time that requires them to carry a gun?

RealSNR 06-21-2021 03:47 PM

Maybe this will help him not play like such a bitch.

MTG#10 06-21-2021 03:48 PM

An Uzi? What is this, Compton during the 80's?

Peter Gibbons 06-21-2021 03:48 PM

That’s strange……was Von Miller with him?
Perhaps he has to pick up his stomach meds in a tough part of town?

At least he was smart enough to try and blend in and not draw unwanted attention while committing a crime. I too would choose a Lamborghini SUV for that task.

The only acceptable excuse is he was on his way to Tom Brady's house.

gblowfish 06-21-2021 03:49 PM

Maybe Spags will let him conceal carry that Uzi on the field???

wazu 06-21-2021 03:49 PM

The worry isn't the suspension. The threat here is actual jail time. He got caught with an uzi in California. That's not good.

Megatron96 06-21-2021 03:49 PM

This is Kalifornika we're talking about. And TMZ, which has not been a fount of reliable news, well, ever.

There's a 50% chance they arrested him for having an airsoft pseudo-Uzi.

O.city 06-21-2021 03:51 PM

ISn't that a felony?

DaFace 06-21-2021 03:51 PM

I'm not at all a "gun guy." Is this illegal because uzi's specifically are banned in California, or is there some other element at play here that I'm missing?

Uzi's arent legal anywhere in the US without an ATF license.

Was wondering the same thing. If he is a felon (I have no idea) it would be illegal for him to carry any fire arm if not then it has to be a thing having to do with the type of weapon he had in his possession considering there is nothing about him brandishing, using, or even holding the firearm based on what we know early.

Assuming it's an automatic, that's the real problem. Those are federally banned. I'm not sure what they do to a non-felon who wasn't using one to commit a crime, but my understanding is the penalties are harsh enough to make it a very bad idea. Just googling around sounds like state laws come into play as well. Again, not entirely sure how bad this situation is, but would like to hear somebody report on the possible range of outcomes.

Firstly, we have no idea at this point whether it was an actual fully automatic Uzi, or just the semi-automatic aesthetically similar clone. Or if it was even a true firearm, rather than an Airsoft clone or BB gun.

But aside from all of that, Kalifornika's gun control regs are draconian; only NY is stricter, or more zealously idiotic, depending on your POV.

Fully automatic firearms are not banned.

They are restricted. But anyone with the time, money, and a pristine criminal record may own a fully automatic firearm, so long as it was manufactured before 1986.

Good point. Again though, the felony charge on the arrest doesn't give me much hope that this is what happened for Frank.

If this offense somehow voided the guarantees in his contract or some shit (I'm not sure how this stuff works) then it would give us some more wiggle room in getting out from underneath his contract.

This is TMZ we’re talking about. It could be a airsoft rifle and tmz will label it with “scary” words like uzi. And it was in California. So yeah, he could just be guilty of having a firearm in California.

While that's hilarious the NFLPA would never allow it. EA took a ton of flack for the NCAA mechanic where you had to suspend guys for infractions or risk NCAA sanctions, it was cool yet only last for 1 year because of the butthurt.

Barret 06-21-2021 04:24 PM

I think that if you have a Class 3 firearms license and a federal tax stamp and a bunch of other taxes and hoops to be able to legally own a machine gun / fully automatic weapon.

So can you own a machine gun? Yes

Can you actually afford and qualify for said ownership of weapon? it becomes extremely difficult for joe blow down the street to do such a thing. So throw in the license costs and then the Taxes per weapon on the federal level every year. Then what does the state restrict or make you pay in taxes every year per weapon.

You just don't take a chance.

Once, about ten years ago, I was taking a flight back east to work about a month out of IL. Obviously I needed my flight bag, so I just brought it with me to the airport.

Except that I forgot that I keep a gun in there, and that I'd have to pass through security. Now, on the way out from Phoenix this presented no problem at all, as I had my SIDA card and my CCW, I was in uniform, etc. So no one even blinked an eye at Sky Harbor.

But coming back out of MDW, TSA initially freaked out a little. My gun was confiscated, I was taken to a room to answer some questions, etc.

But eventually it was sorted out. I even got my gun back.

Point being, you can get so used to things being "normal," that sometimes you forget that it might be a problem if you cross an imaginary line . . .

frozenchief 06-21-2021 04:41 PM

It isn't clear whether this is a semi-auto or fully auto Uzi. If fully auto, I would expect federal involvement because ATF gets highly interested when they find a fully auto weapon.

California does prohibit firearms like an Uzi under their assault weapons ban. That ban was just declared unconstitutional, although that ruling has been stayed pending appeal. If the charge was based upon California's assault weapons ban, I would expect that the defense will try to use that decision as a defense. That may help with the simple possession of the firearm although it may not with carrying the firearm in a car, which would be a separate offense.

Hard to say what the NFL will do. If the Uzi is fully automatic, I would expect the court would punish him fairly harshly and so would the NFL. If it is a semi-automatic, the odds of a lenient resolution from the court and the NFL go up substantially. Right now, though, it's just too early to tell.
