we won a super bowl without charvarius ward, too.

Good for him. He absolutely earned every bit of that contract.

moving on, like he did.

DaFace 03-26-2024 09:53 AM

I'm at least glad that we paid him a grand total of $6 million for four years of peak production and another team is now paying him $76 million in hopes that he can keep it up.

Red Dawg 03-26-2024 09:53 AM

Bullshit. It's a game.

JohnnyHammersticks 03-26-2024 09:57 AM

Happy for him. 4th round draft pick who grew up dirt poor just made life-changing money. Wish it had been with us, but that's just not how the NFL is structured. Will always be one of my favorite players, the season he had last season was literally one of the best seasons I've ever seen a CB have. I wish him nothing but the best.

Yep.

And probably one I'd be upset if we paid.

Good for him.

FloridaMan88 03-26-2024 10:02 AM

Good for him… also good for the Chiefs that they weren’t the team who paid this to a 28 year old CB with bad knees.

RedandGold 03-26-2024 10:11 AM

I mirror the sentiment that I’m happy for him, and equally happy that we didn’t pay that to keep him. He isn’t going to be the piece that makes them a SB contender, so I consider that to be a good landing spot for him.

smithandrew051 03-26-2024 10:11 AM

Now that he’s not a Chief, he was never any better than Phillip Gaines.

Had we kept him, he would be prime Darrelle Revis.

WTF are you blabbing about? He gets paid what the market says he gets paid.

KC_Lee 03-26-2024 10:22 AM

Good for him. Better for him since TN does not have a state income tax. Wish him well and all the success he can have with the floundering franchise that is the Tennessee Tits.

No shit? $6 million?? That's awesome. Just gotta draft another one.

CupidStunt 03-26-2024 10:39 AM

It just doesn't get better than L'Jarius Sneed.

4th round pick. Plays solid > good > great > elite. All on a rookie deal, cheap as dirt. Great dude and locker room from start to finish, never a negative peep out of him. Massively helps us win 2 SBs. He should be universally praised in KC on his way out. And now there's a very decent chance the Chiefs are saying goodbye at just the right time, rather than a year too late.

Only thing that would've topped it off better is more draft comp, but that's covered by the last point above. No one wanted to give more for a reason.

Danguardace 03-26-2024 10:40 AM

Well deserved good luck to him

Otter 03-26-2024 10:43 AM

Would have rather seen him go to Atlanta or Dallas but it is what it is. Go treat yourself to something nice.

And on top of it all, we didn't stop drafting CBs and have guys ready to step right in without much dropoff. This is how you maintain a dynasty.

Not what I meant. The meaning is above your head. Don't worry about it.

Would rather have Jones

scho63 03-26-2024 10:50 AM

Imagine if the poor guys gets hurt early in the season and they have to eat all that money.

I was really glad when the league set up that rookie scale to keep from paying a billion dollars to a Jamarcus Russell. But I almost feel like it's gone too far the other way. Sneed has been a great player and his career is probably almost halfway over, and he's made peanuts, relatively speaking.

Toad 03-26-2024 11:03 AM

Thank You L'Jarius! Appreciate all your contributions.

Happy for you that you got your bag of $.

Now, GTFO!

Yep, congrats LJ. I was a little worried when the Colts were rumored to be in the running. Could you imagine Sneed shutting down 1 of our receivers in the playoffs? (If they make it) Would be far from ideal, but the Tits not so much.

scho63 03-26-2024 12:40 PM

No hatred for this guy. Only hate he went to a quasi-competitor in the AFC.

Megatron96 03-26-2024 12:58 PM

Congrats to Sneed. Deserves every penny. Wish he could’ve stayed in KC, but that’s the NFL. To be great LJ. Thx for everything buddy.

Straight, No Chaser 03-26-2024 01:02 PM

Spags wanting someone else just like him: size, speed, can play inside/outside, can hit. Take the few penalties called anytime.

Fare Thee Well LJ

Yeah, I don't disagree. They've at least partially made it better with the performance-based pay system, but it's certainly not much compared to what some of these rookies could be making on the market. I particularly feel bad for young players who have the potential to be great but then end up with a career-altering injury that prevents them from ever "getting the bag."

But still, I'd rather incentivize young players to put their head down and work for the big payday rather than the old system, as you alluded to.

Zebedee DuBois 03-26-2024 01:43 PM

I guess I'm surprised that he is 28 already coming off 4 years on a rookie contract.

Thanks LJ for a spectacular run with us.

Pasta Little Brioni 03-26-2024 02:03 PM

Enjoy the losing seasons Lajarious!

Red Dawg 03-26-2024 02:35 PM

Would CP have given him this deal? We have a stud in McDuffie so hell no.

I can't see it. McDuffie is the better player and that would be a ton of cap space eaten up by the secondary when he gets paid.

Chiefaholic 03-26-2024 03:21 PM

Personally, I'm happy for Sneed. He played his ass off for us right up to the very last defensive snap of his time here. He didn't make a "Business decision" like our old Raider lovin' scum bag Marcus Peters. He worked hard and played even harder to prove to the NFL that he'll lay his body on the line to win a game. It sucks in today's modern cap era that we can't keep everybody that's a draft success. But, props to Sneed and his family for gaining life changing financial security.

jjchieffan 03-26-2024 04:29 PM

I'm glad for him that he got paid. That said, the Tits gave a compensation worthy of a mediocre corner with bad knees and I hope that is exactly what they get. If he blows out his knee, sits on IR for the year, and is never the same again, then I'll just laugh and chalk it up to karma for the Tits. F them!

I think their owner is a mini-nightmare that hasn't gotten much press yet. And since she's made it clear she's calling the shots now she is all-in on the team winning ASAP.

comochiefsfan 03-29-2024 09:35 AM

Too lazy to embed Pete Sweeney’s tweet,

But is it normal for neither team to have acknowledged that this trade happened yet?

It’s almost been a week. Seems odd, but maybe this is SOP?

It often takes a few days, though a week does seem a little odd. Still, the likely explanation is just that there are nuances in contract language that they're all working out rather than something falling through.
