Early AFC Playoff picture
So thru 3 games (we pretty much knew this before the 3 games but anyway) we have a pretty good idea of whats what in the AFC.
But after the big 2, how does every one see the rest of it shaking out? I think the Colts are the leader of that 2nd tier in the AFC and the Texans are right there. |
It's Pats/Chiefs....just a matter of where we're playing the AFCCG.
Couldn't care less about any other team. |
Pats
Chiefs Ravens Texans |
The Bills are kinda sneaky in a great spot to get a WC. They're 3-0 and has Miami 2 times, plus the Jets Denver and Washington at home.
That's 5 pretty much lock wins which gets them to 8. Find another 2 in the rest of the 8 and they're in. |
I think we can rule out the Dolphins and Jets.

The only thing that matters in the AFC is the Chiefs getting that home field in the playoffs. Going into NE in a big game not good.

Tier 1: Chiefs, Pats
Major gap Tier 2: Ravens, Texans, Colts, Chargers (teetering on falling down tho) Everyone else is so far down it isn’t relevant. |
not one mention of the 3-0 Bills!
|
Have the Patriot, cheating assholes started their season yet or are the still in their pre season? Since they have played 3 winless teams. We go East coast then West coast and then got the pleasure of playing a cheap shot division champ.
Must be rough for them to have the refs and the league in their back pocket. |
The Chargers are having the most Chargers season ever.
They could easily be 3-0 or 0-3 right now. They won a game that they shouldn’t have and lost a game that they shouldn’t have. The game against the Texans was a toss up that they dropped in true Charger fashion. |

You can’t understate how important that win was on Sunday.
It was an AFC game. It was a home game. It was against a team that will likely win their division. If we lose that game, we’re a game down on Baltimore and we lose the tie breaker with them. A loss on Sunday may have made the 2 seed difficult to get. We might’ve slid down to the 3 and been forced to go on the road twice to get to the Super Bowl. Huge ****ing win. Just take care of business from here and we don’t need any help to get at least the 2 seed. |

Let the Patriots get fat and happy. It’ll be that much more satisfying to face **** them in the AFCCG. |

The internet is full of internet tough guys, so perhaps I should commend you for trying to go in the other direction and be known as the biggest whiny, crybaby pussy on the 'net. The weak AFC East! :deevee: The schedule! :deevee: The refs! :deevee: They cheat! :deevee: Jesus. Man up and get ready for what ought to be an epic regular season game and AFCCG and see if you can dethrone the king and claim the prize, instead of ****ing whining like a 12 year old girl. |

Asterix entire life revolves around that pathetic franchise. Why else would he cry like a baby over a name change? (Top 5 pathetic moment in board history btw)

I imagine they rationalize the Patriots have never cheated and are just victims... When NE is attacked...THEY are attacked. Then you have the one resident Masshole...that just calls people pussies for pointing out the obvious officiating favoritism...that everyone in the world knows exists and is responsible for half of their titles... Brady has been around for so long and an active part of the Boston culture...that they literally live through him and are scared of what life will be like when he's gone. I hope in 10 years...that Mahomes doesn't do this to KC. |

So yes Dee Ford's offsides was big in that it cancelled the pick by KC that would of ended the game, as the same time though we Jackson's penalty kept KC alive in the AFCCG. Either way great game by both teams, came down the to the wire, and both team franchises look to late game penalties that hurt the team's chances. |

In 2009 Jets are caught playing with football during the game, no one cares and you can not find an contemporaneous article on the matter cause no one cared. Jets were disciplined. in 2014 Brady is accused of doing the same thing and folks are still talking about it. BB freely admitted to taping signals from 2000 to 2007 and said he had a different understanding of the rule, NFL disagreed and fined him. Okay check fair enough. The Atlanta Falcons freely admit to pumping in crowd noise, get fine, fair enough. Folks still talk about BB and not one cares about what Atlanta did. So for most Pats fan, it is tough to other fans too seriously when the Pats are really no different from any other team in the NFL. \Regarding penalties - the pats play a discipline game. And we get the calls sometimes, sometimes we do not. Just look at the AFCCG. Some folks will complain about the pats getting calls but will ignore the miscall on the KC pick play in the 4th and the ticky tack calls on Jackson in the 4th. Hey, it happens to both sides and each fan base will think it is getting the short end of the stick. Sometimes you get the call sometimes you do not get the call. |
Regarding the playoffs, the Chiefs took a big step on Sunday with the win over Baltimore, that is great. With how the AFCN is shaping up looks like Baltimore might win that division and KC now has the tie breaker against them, so that is a big plus.
Hopefully for KC and NE each team will get a bye, but time will tell there is a lot of football to play. KC is looking great and have taking up were they left off from last year and that is great for KC. |

People would be "wow, that's awful"...while secretly saying "**** yes, there is a god". Nobody wants to watch 42 year old Brady lumbering around... clinging to his youth by drinking sacrificial infant blood while the refs try to appease little "bobby" sex trafficker's "shortman" compensation. It's like in Breaking Bad...when his son says "Just die already". |

For a sport that you think is intentionally rigged by the Illuminati, you seem to be pretty passionate (read: insane) about rooting for your team. Don't you know you're doomed? Kraft and his fellow owners have conspired -- alongside Goodell, vampires and genetics researchers -- to create a perpetual and unkillable victory machine that will roll relentlessly over the bodies of your poor team and the other 31 innocent victims. Or something... |

But what goes around comes around. I have been watching sports since the early 1970s and we here in Boston have been on the other side of the coin from pretty much that entire time up to 2001, so 30 years of my sports fandom has been series of close calls, we will get them next year, and looking up to other cities with the champions. True the run is longer than most runs, but some of us have had the depths of despair too. Great thing for you guys is you got a 24 year Mahomes and so much to look forward to in the upcoming year. You are just starting your run. :thumb: And yes we are glad that Brady is on the infant blood diet. :) |

I am also a big fan of Reid, he does not get as much credit as he deserves sometimes. |
Yehoodi, we’ll always be here.
We’ll save you a spot, ;) |
For Kc and NE this is just kind of a get thru the year without major injuries kinda thing.
What do you guys think gets the 1 seed record wise? Gonna take 14 this year? |
Quote:
Yep. NE and KC are strong. VERY strong. Looks like a 2004-type season all over again when the 14-2 Pats had to travel to the 15-1 Steelers. Since the Pats and KC play each other this season, and the winner gets the tie breaker, that could easily decide HFA, either by giving the victor that extra win, or giving them the tie-breaker. (and the Pats lost to the Steelers in 2004 regular season to put the AFCCG at Heinz Field, where the Pats won) |
They play pretty late in the year, which is kinda good and bad I suppose.
I don't know that the Chiefs can really win 15, they have a pretty tough schedule. |

I think NE and KC will most likely have 2 losses eachbefore their week 14 matchup.
It’s going to decide HFA |

The d is improved this year. It should be good enough to get kc over the hump. |

I’m hoping both are undefeated. |
If both are undefeated, that could be unreal.
I don't know that they will be, but damn talk about a prime time one. |
Quote:
As for # of wins, 14 plus the head to head should be enough as that only leaves the other team with having to win every other game to be 15-1. 13 wins and head to head should take it too. But 14 wins could take it if one looses the head to head. My guess is that both teams will be within one game of each other when we play and the head to head should decide HFA as it happens so late in the season for the loser to make up ground. |
Quote:
Except that isn't really how it works to be honest. It's more about the health of the teams when they meet, the matchups, and who coaches and performs better that day. The best team doesn't always win. The 2001 Rams and 2007 Patriots (among many others) can tell you all about it. |
Quote:
If my memory serves me correct both the Giants and 49ers were 10-0 two weeks away from their MNF showdown in 1990, and the both lost the following weekend and thus were 10-1 when they played. Still a big showdown but not between undefeated teams. |
Quote:
Pats have Hou, Dall, Balt, KC and Phila if they can turn it around. I hope the Pats will have a two game lead going into the game but not sure if that will happen. |
Quote:
And all a team, players and coaches can do do is their best not to make mistakes and let luck go where it goes. It evens out in the end most of the time over a series of games. |
Quote:
As you D has improve so has our D with the younger guys getting more experience in the system and some additions, namely Collins and Winovich. As for last season i think both fan bases can take away positives. Chiefs fans can look at the halves KC played well and hope that it can do it for four qtrs. As a Pats fan kind of the opposite, we held KC in check for 2 qtrs each game and just need to do it for more this time. Either way should be a fun game. |

Qbs like Brees can’t eben get his teams into the postseason with a god awful defense. Mahomes leads KC to a 1 seed. Get him a bit of help defensively and we’ll be unstoppable. |
Buffalo is looking like they might take a playoff spot. Probably gonna have to be a wild card spot but still.
