Most Memorable moments from Game of Thrones
Now that it's all said and all done, what are your most memorable scenes from the show? There is a lot to draw from, I'm interested in what impacted you the most.

Favorite Fight scene
Brienne vs the Hound <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/DLUI6GxwNxk" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Favorite Battle Battle of the Bastards. Sapochnik is a ****ing mad genius. Runner up would be the battle at Castle Black. For whatever reason I can’t get enough. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/yBy0QRetPNc" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/4ZcFHS1BpS4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/iXWbdoNYL3U" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Most brutal moment Robbs wife getting stabbed in the belly during the Red Wedding. I’m not posting a video of that shit. I just …can’t Best Music Light of the seven. It’s just ****ing good. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pS-gbqbVd8c" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Most “Hell yeah!” moment When Dany and the Dragons bust on the scene North of the wall. With the blaring music, shit’s good, yo <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GWeRWUNaMUw?start=187" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
This was probably the most moving scene for me.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/aMoFWYPYr74" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> All the horrible shit both of these characters had been through, to finally feel the warm embrace of family again... And I remember the first time I watched it, right up until she lept into his arms I figured an anvil was going to drop on one of their heads, just because Martin is a giant, evil douche. |
This one was one of my favs
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ozkHwFG91AI?start=128" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

The Battle of the Bastards was such a ****ing epic episode.
God I miss Ramsey. THAT was a villain. |
I loved the hound in battle of black water. there was one quick cut where he sliced a guy from shoulder to spleen. then they recreated the exact same shot in S8E5 but it was someone else cutting down a Lannister lackey. it was more graphic (CGI blood) but not as impressive because I had already seen it
as far as acting goes, Thorne vs. Snow scenes were always tense and convincing. best comedic moment was when Pod decided he had to break the bad news to Brienne and tell her that Renly was gay. that made me howl <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8lSs3meWfe0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

There was tons of good comedy in there. Probably the thing that makes me laugh hardest consistently was after the Brotherhood killed Ian McShane and the hound Hunts them down and Berricks guy pulls a bow and arrow out, the Hound says, “Don’t even try it, ya girl. Tougher girls have tried to kill me and I’m still here.” ****ing Hounds cracks me up every time. |
Red wedding's too obvious. After that, is there any scene harder to watch than Stannis burning Shireen? Those 2 scenes I just could not watch a 2nd time.
And sorry, it may not be perfect to the perfectionists, but the Battle of Winterfell is one of the most epic episodes in TV history, let alone GoT. |
The entire battle where Drogon ****s Lannisters, then almost gets ****ed, then Dany almost gets ****ed by Jamie who almost gets ****ed by Drogon and Tyrion provides running commentary...capped off by Drogon and Dany executing the Tarlys....best shit the show ever did.
That and Starks making me weep for their pathos every season. LMAO |

Besides the big moments, which I'll leave to others
<iframe width="876" height="493" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GmVos4TDLSA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="876" height="493" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/scxmOWOHYjQ" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
The opening scene, north of the wall, for the simple reason that I never thought I would see that, or anything that followed, on screen in any medium.

Tyrions speech/tirade after Shae lies about him during the trial

"If words keep pouring out of your **** mouth, I'm going to eat every ****ing chicken in this place."

To see that guy humbled on the pot facing death and still laying on the confidence as much as any man could in that situation. ROFL Always wondered how that would have played out if he had gotten off the pot. Would he have killed Tyrion? |
Ned losing his head. That made a statement that this would be a different kind of show. We will kill off major characters. I started reading the books after that season.
|
Battle for the wall was great too, the music was great.
|
Damn this was a good show. Hopefully I can rewatch it like Breaking Bad someday. Dany coming into the rescue was awesome from the nk...I never knew she'd go mad later.

Anytime Melisandre got naked
|
Among the stuff I haven't seen listed.
1. Dany taking the Unsullied and burning the masters of Astapol. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NXUtEpvh-DI" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> 2. The Sand Snake's sweet, sweet tits in that prison scene. 3. Pretty much every damn scene with Tywin, but particularly anything between Tywin and Tyrion, and Tywin and Arya. 4. We learn how Hodor got his name. 5. Khal Drogo commits to conquering Westeros. 6. "Crown for King" 7. Arya/Sansa kill Baelish 8. Drogon melts the Iron Throne |
I'd say Arya and Tywin's scenes were pretty memorable.
|
Tywin verbally destroying Joffery.

The other time is when Arya kills the Night King (and that montage leading up to it). I cannot say enough about the music in this series. The acting was oftentimes good, sometimes very good and sometimes shite. The cinematography was the best ever seen on television. The storytelling was great until it wasn't anymore. But I believe the soundtrack made as big a mark in this series as anything. It was truly incredible. |
Viserion opening that blue eye
Dracarys! |
The red wedding ****ed me up. I was shook (I think thats what the kids say these days)
I literally was waiting for the Starks to come back in the show like... "nah just kidding we didn't murder an entire family we about to go **** the lannisters up tho" |

So out of context, in fact, that IIRC people speculated that it was just a middle finger from the writers for the people complaining about all the female nudity. Kind of a 'you want dick? there's you some dick' moment. |
One of the best moments for me was the Mountain vs. the Viper. I wore out the remote rewinding that whole scene. Thought about it for weeks afterward. That was some crazy shit there.

I don’t expect this to be anybody else’s favorite. But I always loved this scene. And the following conversation. So powerful

Also the whole chickens scene.

My least favorite scene, but memorable and the only one that brought a tear to my eye.

This is another good one. It's just dialogue, but it's damned compelling television.

Two moments in the BotB. First is when Jon is being suffocated by his own army and all hope looks to be lost. Second is when the Knights of the Vale arrive and completely turn the tides of a battle that looked finished. |
What would have been a quite memorable moment wound up on the cutting room floor:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lMXJlUIQP94" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
The battle of Black Water was awesome.
|
Ah, so many great moments. It's a shame the quality dipped so dramatically later on because it was truly a 10/10 for quite some time.
https://youtu.be/BOpQqVCt-Jc This is the bathhouse scene between Jaime and Brienne. At this point Jaime's lost his hand and really started opening up to Brienne. He had admitted to the reasoning behind killing the Mad King a couple times prior to this- once to Bobby B and Barristan Selmy and then to Qyburn- but this whole monologue has so much more emotion. I particularly like when he talks about how Ned Stark had judged him guilty the moment he laid eyes on him in the throne room. "By what right does the wolf judge the lion?" Kind of harkens back to an earlier spiel of Jaime's in which he talks about all the oaths you're sworn to as a knight and how it's basically impossible to honor them all without forsaking another. https://youtu.be/h0htqxWSlDY This one is Oberyn visiting Tyrion pre-trial telling him he'll be his champion. I like this one because it starts off pretty ordinarily. Oberyn starts off the conversation with a story about visiting Casterly Rock as a child and being disappointed with actually seeing Tyrion for the first time. He was promised a monster and only saw a baby. It's hilarious because here's Oberyn Martell, one of the Lannister's most dangerous enemies, and he's basically the only person in the country who treats Tyrion like an actual human being. Moreover, I hadn't read the books at this point so I had no idea where this visit was going. He switches gears after Tyrion claims "If you're looking for justice, you've come to the wrong place". Oberyn disagrees, says he's come to the perfect place.. Idk, something about the conviction when he says he's basically about to **** everything up starting with The Mountain. Cool moment, even if it doesn't really work out as intended. https://youtu.be/ZBaVqcilmc0 This is the third name scene with Jaqen H'ghar. Basically, Jaqen has killed a couple people for Arya and is demanding she give him the final name. She finesses him by naming himself in order to get his help in escaping Harrenhal. It's more funny than anything. He gets so distraught when he hears his own name. "Unname me".. "NO".. "Please". Then she agrees to unname him and the look of relief on his face is hilarious. I like all of the scenes with Jaqen in Harrenhal. He was mysterious and suave. His badassness stood out which is saying a lot in a show with guys like Khal Drogo and Oberyn Martell. He wasn't nearly as intriguing in the House of Black and White. |

This is a scene of Tywin schooling Joffrey. You can't talk about the most memorable moments of GoT without including one with Tywin Lannister. This is also just a hilarious scene. At some point prior to this interaction, Tywin and Cersei are talking in private. Tywin basically asks why she hasn't brought Joffrey to heel. She essentially admits that she can't and challenges him to do it: "Why don't you try stopping him from doing what he likes". He looks up from his quill and paper so seriously and he's just like "I will". Charles Dance is just incredible as Tywin. Anyway, so this scene is basically just him G checking Joffrey. It's awesome watching that little shit squirm as Tywin shows him who's truly the most powerful man in Westeros. Bonus points for the small council scene when Tywin sends him to bed at like 2 PM lol |
Some of the best 8 minutes in the show... The Hound wants some chicken

The most brutal death was easily when D&D massacred the whole show.

Finally got to binge the last season yesterday with the bi-annual free HBO weekend
Gotta say I'm not as outraged about the ending as others, should Jon Snow have been king? Of course, I didnt care for him being banished to the north but it didnt RUIN the entire season for me either Memorable moments... My eyes got genuinely misty during Tyrion and Jaime's final scene together, I was feeling it... great acting The Mountain and the Hounds fight was incredible, very well done Getting to finally see Maisie Williams (briefly) nekked was cool :whackit: Cersei was such a ****, but I'm glad Jaime was there for her at the end The battle of Winterfell episode was great, but too damn dark I'm surely forgetting something, but thats a decent starter list... all in all I was pretty satisfied with the final season |
You know what just hit me? Season 8 left me with nothing all that memorable. Brienne's knighting is I think the only scene that really sticks out in my mind. Otherwise, it kind of just...was. And I don't really care that it ended.
Kinda sad. |
The last great episode was the lead up to the Battle of Winterfell. After that, it just went off the rails; slowly at first, but by the end, completely. The promise of the books and the earlier seasons just drained away, like someone bleeding out after a gut shot.
I don't even think about it now. I never hear anybody talk about it. I have no interest in what any of the actors involved do next. Don't care of Martin ever finishes the books, and I have no plans to buy them if he does. |

I didn't mean I'd boycott the actors. I meant I won't be specifically interested in anything they're in going forward just because they're in it.

GoT gave me four seasons of the best TV ever. Even with the dip in quality, overall, the show was still great.
When you include the books and the lore, which is some of the best around, it's already cemented itself as one of the greatest franchises ever. Shame for sure, though. "What could have been" with the show and, shit, the books as well. That guy will never finish the series. |

The books are amazing. You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't read them. Legit top 5 all-time fantasy book series.
|
He's right, Easy. Idk if you're into medieval fantasy but if you are, even in the slightest, you should give the books a go. They're a lot more layered than the show- so many more interesting characters and plot points.

How far D&D have fallen
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were riding high as the creative minds behind the biggest, baddest and most popular show on television, and had signed on to develop an entire Star Wars trilogy as their first major project after Game of Thrones had drawn to a close. Unfortunately for the duo, however, the backlash from fans and even some of the cast against the eighth and final season was overwhelming to say the least, with many accusing the showrunners of failing spectacularly when it came to creating a narrative that couldn’t rely on the books for inspiration. It didn’t take them long to change their minds on a galaxy far, far away, either, making the pair the latest names to have an incredibly brief flirtation with Disney and Lucasfilm’s sci-fi behemoth before walking away in short order. However, they swiftly wound up at Netflix, with Benioff and Weiss set to executive produce an adaptation of Chinese literary series The Three-Body Problem for the streamer. The show was announced as a co-production with the China-based Yoozoo Group, but development has been placed on hold now in the most tragic and mysterious of circumstances after another of the executive producers was allegedly murdered by one of his colleagues, although the Chinese media have been unwilling to divulge much in the way of details. Yoozoo Group executive Lin Qi was hospitalized last week after reportedly being poisoned, and police in Shanghai have arrested fellow senior boardroom member Xu Yao after an investigation led them to believe he was the prime suspect. Qi has since passed away, and Yao remains in custody as the case continues. Unsurprisingly, then, development on The Three-Body Problem has been halted for the foreseeable future after one of the executive producers was killed by someone he was very familiar with. |
