The 10th overall pick is great. Ask Mahomes.

The fact that he had the sweetest release, smooth, perfect motion of all the qbs. Accuracy probably only eclipsed by Mayfield.......yet still drops.

Yeah....teams spend probably reeruned amounts of money looking into these guys.

If he were worth a top 1 or 2 pick, someone probably would’ve taken him.

It’s not a talent issue. It’s the fact that teams think he’s a dick who doesn’t really like football

IMO

Or its Cleveland being Cleveland. Jets picking the better QB prospect. Bills taking the strongest arm QB due to the weather and wind conditions in Buffalo.

Very true.

I’m just trying to rationalize why teams valued him where the did etc.
I think - which I know amounts to a hill of shit - teams thought “yeah, this guy has great attributes.....but, I’m not 100% sure he even likes playing football”. To the degree necessary to pay a guy franchise quote money etc.

That’s my $.02 etc.

Teams didn't like Mahomes' footwork, mechanics, offensive system, or his win/loss record.

In my opinion
Mahomes=Confident, tough,
Rosen=Arrogant, whiny,

Yep.

Right or wrong, I think that’s how teams view it as well in the general sense.

And we have no idea what their background checks revealed. Shit, it. mAy have revealed that all his teammates etc, thought he was a whinny bitch. Well never know etc. but SOMETHING caused teams up top to say “the hell with this guy..we’re taking x” despite having amazing physical skills /traits

Not really. Mahomes shot up the draft board and he wasn't higher because some people still question his experience. Rosen fell on the draft board in a shitty QB class with QB desperate teams in the top 10, and while nobody knows for sure, there's a ton of smoke that it was attitude... and not much smoke about anything else. Sure nobody knows, but where there's smoke there's fire.

He did flat out say he would rather be taken low with the right team, than high with the wrong team. Guess he was lying about that. Because he gets thrown into a good QB situation, like he wanted.

Eleazar 04-26-2018 11:12 PM

Arrogance is not the same thing as confidence. Arrogance usually comes from inner feelings of insecurity, not self-assurance.

A confident, self-assured person would have taken it in stride and gone out to prove it on the field. Not even mentioned it.

An arrogant and/or insecure person whines and cries about it and tells people they will be sorry, trying to hurt them with words instead. Because maybe inside, he isn't really sure they did the wrong thing, or that he'll be able to disprove them. He's probably afraid in his heart that they might be right.

And in 4 years it may be another case where NFL teams put to much into what someone else thought of a guy.

The draft process is way to overcomplicated, plenty of teams talk themselves out of good players for reasons that make no sense. Guys like Mayfield and Allen going ahead of Rosen is a classic example of NFL teams thinking they are the smartest dudes in the room and need to not make obvious decisions because OMG Josh Rosen is an asshole cause some 3rd string TE said so.

scho63 04-27-2018 06:36 AM

I predict he is going to be an oft injured QB who has a Cade McNown statistical type of career

Red Dawg 04-27-2018 07:04 AM

I think he fell for two reasons. 1 is he's sounds like an entitled douche and has over the past year. A rich boy who doesn't need the NFL. 2 is he's a statue. He is not a playmaker at all.

Gravedigger 04-27-2018 07:06 AM

I don't wish ill will on anyone, but if he became a constant injury prone player and never saw any play time, I would chuckle at the awkward irony of it all. Even more so if all nine picks in front of him were average to great over their span.

That's not the reason. It's that he put the other players taken ahead of him down while professing that he was the best.

This.

If he thinks he’s the best QB, fine, and nothing wrong with him stating that. You want your QB to be confident in himself.

But the part about the 9 guys in front of him being ‘mistakes’ was uber douchey. QB isn’t the end all and be all of this draft. There were several more talented players in front of him, many of which went to teams who didn’t necessarily need QB’s.

The SECOND part of his statement just screamed whiny baby self entitled douche.

Narrative, the narrative the whole time has been that he's spoiled and whiny etc.

If he had said these exact comments but the narrative had been that he's a competitor with fire and confidence there would be a bunch of other comments.

In reality Arizona gets a steal because from a talent standpoint he probably should have gone 1.

Mecca 04-27-2018 07:42 AM

Also I'd like to add, everyone gets tired of hearing canned answers and cliche bullshit, yet when a guy doesn't give you that all he gets is ripped on, then people wonder why no one ever really answers a question.

He has every right to feel the way he does without people acting like it means he has shitty character.

Stryker 04-27-2018 07:44 AM

I said the the same thing after I saw that interview. What a spoiled as little bitch! Wait till defenses pick up on this :)

Mecca 04-27-2018 07:46 AM

Only in the world of the NFL can coming from an affluent family and having life options that don't end with the NFL be the worst thing in the world.

"This guy comes from a high end family and doesn't need the money, he has talents and abilities that he can do other things so **** him"

Apparently in the NFL it's better to come from the projects and basically need to play until your brain is mush.

This is exactly why teams make so many mistakes. They have too much information and start putting too much credence into information that doesn't affect how a guy plays.

My thought is that his primary emotion should be elation that the Cards picked him and not frustration and anger that 9 other teams passed on him.
But I like Watson in Houston and MaHomes in KC far more than Mr chosen Rosen who probably doesn't really care about football like MaHomes & Watson do.

Kiimo 04-27-2018 08:42 AM

Maybe.

But it comes across as him being a douche when you consider what he said and the already previously mentioned concerns about his character prior to the draft.

I mean, the dude was just made the OVERALL #10 pick in the entire NFL Draft and he’s bitching about it?!? You’d think he’d be elated to be a Top 10 pick! It’s not like he dropped out of the first round.

I’m sure Mahomes thought he was the best QB in last years draft, but you didn’t hear him ever bitching about Mitch getting taken by the Bears at #2.

Kiimo 04-27-2018 08:49 AM

He’s the angriest Jew bent on revenge since Judah Ben-Hur and if I’m a Cardinals fan I’m excited to watch that fire.

People dislike Rodgers too. Everyone wants their NFL players to be like Gallant but Goofus can sling it.

John Elway and Eli Manning were so pissed about where they were drafted they forced the respective teams who drafted them to immediately trade them.

It's not like Rosen is the first player to publicly complain about where/how he was drafted.
