What are the odds of a Chris Jones fine/suspension?

https://i.imgur.com/bpWf9TJ.gif

I guess I would assume a fine is coming, but what about a suspension? I'm not sure what the standard punishment for punching a guy is.

BWillie 01-25-2021 03:22 PM

Zero chance.

smithandrew051 01-25-2021 03:23 PM

Fine, yes.

Suspension, no.

Yes the fat Bill flopped - but he would have been ejected if the refs saw it happen live.

smithandrew051 01-25-2021 03:24 PM

Let’s also make sure to note the flop on that.

Chris Jones must be the strongest man in the world apparently. Dude is acting like Nate Robinson taking that “punch”.

Good. It would suck ass to lose him for the SB over something like that.

PHOG 01-25-2021 03:27 PM

Well, I can't remember if it was 76 or 73 that had a few shoves on Jones earlier, so they were being chippy from the get go. IMHO

KChiefs1 01-25-2021 03:27 PM

I'll say he gets fined but the NFL is not going to suspend him for the Super Bowl.

The Bills dudes will get fined big time.

Sure, but there's a difference between being chippy and hitting a dude in the head with a closed fist. He could have broken his hand on the fat Bills helmet!

Bl00dyBizkitz 01-25-2021 03:29 PM

Yeah he gets fined for that. Suspension is Suh digging someone's helmet into the ground and then kicking him while he's still on the ground.

Chris has a nasty attitude and makes dumb decisions, but he's not as grimy as Suh.

Yep, the NFL isn't going to suspend its best defensive lineman for the Super Bowl. Watching Chris Jones destroy brady's psyche with trash talk is going to be one of America's most enjoyable parts of the game.

TomBarndtsTwin 01-25-2021 03:30 PM

Fine, probably. Suspension? No way.

If by some miracle they did (suspend him) then I'll know the NFL is trying to set up Tom Brady to win another Super Bowl by taking away the Chiefs most disruptive defensive force.

But to be clear, no chance he gets suspended for that. He hit him, but there was some serious floppage and overacting by the O-Lineman there.

displacedinMN 01-25-2021 03:32 PM

If they do any of that....they have to do the same to the Bills O also. THey went dirty

ChiefsHawk 01-25-2021 03:32 PM

Also of note he was hitting him in the shoulder and slipped to the head. He wasnt intentionally hitting him in the head.

siberian khatru 01-25-2021 03:33 PM

That flop was so good, 76 should've gone into concussion protocol

Lol I hadn't thought about that. Damn it Jones!

SupDock 01-25-2021 03:33 PM

To be honest, the more I look at it, the more it looks like a push rather than a punch. The lineman has his arm held, and jones initially puts his hand on the should pad, his hand slips off the shoulder pad and hits the helmet.

Beat me to it

Molitoth 01-25-2021 03:36 PM

Deserves a fine for being a dumbass.

Doesn't deserve a suspension unless the NFL wants a better shot at Brady winning again.

I honestly don't see the flop, looks to me like his legs legit gave out

If the NFL insists on taking a game or two from him, they damn sure better do it next year

htismaqe 01-25-2021 03:39 PM

Even if he does get a suspension, it won't be for the Super Bowl. Precedent suggests it would be the first game of next year, IIRC.

TEX 01-25-2021 04:03 PM

IMO, I don't think that he knew that #60 (Morse) was the guy who pushed him on his shoulder, he was just throwing a punch to where he thought the contact to his shoulder him came from. Should not have done it, but I get where he was coming from. Regardless, he deserves a fine for being stupid.

Yeah, true. Hadn't thought about it.

And even if they TRIED to suspend him for the Super Bowl, he could just file an appeal and wait to have it heard before a board for a hearing. If I recall correctly with the new CBA, the commish doesn't have unilateral control over discipline and suspensions anymore. I believe they changed that protocol.

TLO 01-25-2021 04:08 PM

I've watched the gif like 100 times now.

50 of them I see him make contact with the shoulder.
50 of them I see contact with the helmet

Something nobody has mentioned yet is I think Jones actually trips the fat Bill with his left leg.

TLO 01-25-2021 04:09 PM

Actually I'm not sure what he's doing with his left leg tbh..

morphius 01-25-2021 04:09 PM

The other images of this showing 76 turning away and turning back really hast with his hand going towards Jones side. I'd love to see another view to see if he actually takes a cheap shot at him there and this is retaliation. I'm not sure that it is, I just would like to see the video.

InChiefsHeaven 01-25-2021 04:11 PM

It's funny that Mitch Morse is the other guy in that clip...He knows Jones...probably was trying to bait him all game.

He does seem to have Jones' arm held. I wish the gif was longer so we could see the lead up to what happened.

I also think that the punch was not what knocked him down, rather it was Jones' huge schlong...but you'd need another angle to be sure...LMAO

thabear04 01-25-2021 04:23 PM

Feliciano must of learn from Josh Allen flopping against the Ravens.

The more I've watched it, the more I tend to agree with you. It looks like he may have legitimately been stunned.

oldman 01-25-2021 04:24 PM

It's too bad there isn't a stop motion or slo-mo on that clip. It looks to me that fatty 76 grabbed Jones with his right hand first and then did something with his left before Chris did his Ali imitation.

philfree 01-25-2021 04:28 PM

Looks like Jones was going for the Brachial Stun.

stevieray 01-25-2021 04:35 PM

Worth every dime, IMO.

Long overdue this team had a bit of an attitude on defense.

Personally, I like it.

He had a hold of Jones' arm...not sure what he was doing with the other hand.

Cosmos 01-25-2021 04:43 PM

Mark my words, Tom Brady will do everything he can, to get Chris Jones riled up and tossed from the most important game of the season.

There is history, Brady will prod the bear, and I HOPE....Chris Jones is smart enough to know this is going to happen.

Don’t take the bait...play your best game.

This is true. Jones will be fired up to hit Brady. Just don't accidentally touch his helmet.

TwistedChief 01-25-2021 04:55 PM

Dude, if someone did that to Dee Ford, he would've played him a lovely piece on the piano.

dlphg9 01-25-2021 05:29 PM

Lmao can't wait to see Jones and Clark do that simultaneously to Brady.

jaa1025 01-25-2021 05:30 PM

Suspension won't happen during the SB but I could see him getting a September suspension.

Dude that flop would make a soccer Mom blush.

Graystoke 01-25-2021 08:05 PM

The sequence goes
Brushing Punch
Attempt trip
Serious Flop

jdubya 01-25-2021 08:49 PM

Flop or not, intentions be damned, others have been suspended games for this. The NFL is in a quandary. If one loses games and another is just fined, there will be hell to pay from one side or the other. I love it when the NFL plays its subjective hand and gets their tails in a crack because of the idiocy.

Mahomes_Is_God 01-25-2021 08:52 PM

They all have helmets. Punching should be the last thing that gets you ejected/suspended/fined. Dumb**** rule.

Really? Does Aaron Donald know he's behind Chris Jones? Best D lineman still playing? Sure. Glad hes on our team, but still giving the nod to Donald for best in the NFL.

SuperBowl4 01-25-2021 09:14 PM

Neither. But the Bills guy should get a Oscar.

GloryDayz 01-25-2021 09:17 PM

Based on the way the Bill flopped, he should be in the NFL's concussion protocol.

I'm just not seeing that, some of it may have been 76 not expecting it and getting caught off balance... but Chris clearly coldcocked him with force IMO

Can you please cite where somebody has been suspended for slapping a player in the helmet? Not saying you're wrong, but if it's ever happened I just don't remember it.

Javon Wims suspended 2 games, a couple years ago someone smacked Big Ben in the head after a play and was out a game or 2. Burfect, although a repeat offender, missed most of his last season for a rather small late hit. I’ll have to dig a little to find more but those came to mind immediately.

I’m not saying it deserves a suspension at all. It wasn’t a big deal but the NFL is so inconsistent with its suspensions and fines. Everything is so subjective. Let’s just say the scales of justice aren’t equal in the NFL.

Rukdafaidas 01-25-2021 11:01 PM

I'd like to see the angle from the other side of the field. It looks like the Bills player might have kidney punched Jones just before Jones hit him.

Looks like Chris slapped him right in the earhole. I remember Alex Karras saying that was his first move at the snap of the ball on the O linemen. He said it temporarily stunned them.
