They lure in you in too, a few will be easy then you get one that is hard as a mother****er.

When you guys say you've finished the game, is that just the story or challenges and side-missions too? I'm still only in Chapter 2 after buying on release day, but I'm closing in on a lot of the challenges. The only two I don't plan on doing are fishing and picking flowers. Been avoiding this thread in case of spoilers but it looks like there haven't been any.

I've been playing with auto-aim off since release just to get ready for online play. Hopefully we're allowed to connect to the internet when we get back next semester so I can posse up with y'all.

I just want to have fun and not be all serious about it. Also how the **** are they recognizing you with the bandana or mask on with no one around after you kill em?

Both of these. I save all the time because I've been burned a few too many times with the autosave.

Another pet peeve I may have already voiced in this thread.. Why is killing a lawman an instant $50 bounty if I wipe them all out? These guys don't have radios. Nobody knows who did it if there are no witnesses. Come on.

I got bored of this game a lot sooner than I expected. Hopefully they make an Undead Nightmare for this. Or something similar.

Dayze 12-21-2018 12:36 PM

i have 11 days off starting tomorrow; planning on playing lots of catch up in the game during that time. I think I'm on Chapter 4. only been able to play here and there since it came out, with the occasional 4 hour session here and there.

Certain aspects certainly got old quickly. Collecting pelts and herbs gets a little too tedious. I still loved it but I don't think its quite the masterpiece its been made out to be.

I know Mary Beth is up there fantasizing about me showing up and simply accepting her letter, dropping to my knees, and expressing my love and how much I missed her, and am a changed man.

But **** that bitch. She can wait. ****.

ShiftyEyedWaterboy 12-25-2018 12:37 AM

Anyone else think the game looks kinda washed out? Is it shitty HDR? Weather effects seem to be part of the problem. It’s hazy all the damn time. I’m playing on a Pro on a Sony Bravia and constantly ****ing with the settings trying to find the sweet spot.

Dayze 12-25-2018 08:38 PM

In chapter six now. Game really seems to be picking up steam story wise.

ChiefBlueCFC 12-26-2018 09:53 AM

Got this game this weekend, I had to get a external hard drive for my PS4 since I didn't want to delete any of my games on there currently and feel I can finally open this thread haha. Thoroughly enjoying the game so far I've just robbed the train using the oil wagon. I get so side tracked with side missions and stuff it takes me forever to finish

I believe on Pro you currently have to turn off the HDR effects in the game settings. Just google RD2 and PS Pro problem.

It gets better. That's the first epilogue. There are 2. I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I did most of the side missions. I bagged a few legendary animals. Never messed with the poker, though. The ending of the regular game made me sad....very sad.

Once you get past the ranching bullshit it picks up. I agree that 2-3 hours of ranching simulator was a dumb decision.

Yeah. The nun in the train station hit pretty hard in the feels. That song as Arthur rides back to camp for the last time wasn't quite as bad but still struck a nerve.

I musta missed the Nun at the train station quest. The last 30-60 min of gameplay before "the moment" was fantastic. Hit the feels well, but nothing tops John Marston at the end of RDR 1.

If I'm right, it depends on your honor. It happens during the mission where you save Captain Monroe. Pretty sure it was a story mission.

Heres the scene. Title spoils the meat and potatoes so try not to read it, I guess.

Bummed i missed it. There must've been some pre-req quests because my encounter with Monroe did not end that way.

Also learned last night that you can avoid getting TB....kinda wish i woulda known that. Playing half the game with TB was like playing with a dark cloud over your head.

But i guess that adds to the emotional depth of the game.

No you can't. That is a story mission and even if you don't beat the guy he still coughs on you in a cutscene.

Dayze 01-02-2019 05:45 PM

Finished the main chapters on Monday. Wow. Such a great ending. Very sad.
Started the first epilogue but I had already logged like ten ****ing hours that day lol.

I finished the “moment” etc, and I thought for sure that was the end of the game. But I’m at like 75% with the two epilogues to go apparently .

Such a great ending IMO. My wife was crying lol. She had watched me play off and on, and knew the gist of the characters etc.
though, admittedly, I did get a little choked up
Spoiler!

I forgot how Arthur got TB.
It’s all blurred together for me. What was the situation where he gets TB.?

I assumed I got it because I was mostly underweight for most of the game and just figured I got sick because of it etc.

Definitely depends on honor apparently. I was nearly all white hat in honor bar, and I never saw the nun in that scene. Everything else weathered but instead of meeting her, Charles just said meet me at the reservation, and then I met with Rev Swanson.

Wow. Very cool game.

Yup. I didn't even realize where i caught TB until after i finished the game (epilogue not included).

Also, i thought i was under weight because of the TB. I finally googled it and realized that's not the case. You were underweight because you just weren't eating enough.

Wow. Very cool game.

Pretty sure there's some non main story mode quests you have to do. There's some side quests that involve a nun and some religious stuff in St. Dennis. I didn't finish all of them, and by the time i was doing the Monroe stuff the side quest in St. Dennis has disappeared.

Ah. Maybe you have to do her missions in Saint Denis. I was under the impression you got her if high honor and Swanson if low honor.

Now i have the sads again.

Sassy Squatch 01-02-2019 06:03 PM

Not too sure about other Rockstar titles but GTA never gets to that level of sadness. Usually some dark times but the protagonist always wins in the end. RDR is straight up depressing at times.

GTA's characters are generally un-relateble. They're more humorous and idk about you, but they're hard to take seriously enough to have a vested interest in like an Arthur Morgan or a John Marston.

Eh. Michael and Franklin were relatable, and Trevor was just the personification of every maniac that plays GTA to mindlessly slaughter innocent people in a fictional world brought to life.

Sassy Squatch 01-02-2019 06:21 PM

Pretty sure RDR3 is going to follow either Sadie or Charles. I'd be down for either one of those.

Or Jack.

Sadie was a great character but i'm not sure they can build a great game around her. And Charles is boring imo.

Jack seems like the logical jump, but then we're kind of leaving the time period.

Sassy Squatch 01-02-2019 06:31 PM

Think Sadie in South America would be the most interesting.

If you didn't do the Rains Falls quests then you might not like Charles as much, but he could have an interesting backstory to explore.

Lol. The doc in Saint Denis early in Chapter 6 tells you straight up.

I could tell from Arthur’s worsening pallor throughout the game that he was sick, making the diagnosis a real gut punch.

This game is everything I wanted. A great game world to spend a few hours in every now and then. Not even interested in the story right now. Just roaming, trying things out, hunting, trying to get a full set of perfect pelts to market before a posse gets me or I do something stupid and die some ****ing way.

Accidentally stole a train last night. I wanted to hop the train and ride on top so I could see the world. Went into the engine and accidentally shot the Engineer in the face. Kinda cool having posse's ride up to you chasing and firing while driving the train.

Fun game. I know Mary is there. Just don't want to talk to her yet.

My only complaint with this game is when you're walking through town....you basically have to ignore the people that are around you. Any antagonizing....and it's instant fight or being shot at. And then god forbid you retaliate.

It's really nice when you press the button to get on your horse and instead tackle a random bystander to the ground and start to beat on them.

Yeah, I feel like they goofed up by having the first one take place as late as it did. The first one should have been in the 1890's or 1880's and 2 should've been in the heyday of the Old West. I was a little disappointed to see the same exact theme in this one.

Yeah, but they executed that theme to a f’ing T.

No complaints from me.

'Hamas' Jenkins 01-13-2019 08:11 PM

The driving theme of the series is that the vdLG and others like it are obsolete due to encroaching modernity. You can't have this game series work if it is set in heyday of the West.

Mecca 01-15-2019 10:43 PM

It would change the narrative if they did that, they'll figure something out though, to much money in this series for them not to do more.

The south east intersection of road by the panther icon south of Braithwaite Manor, Put a potent bait down in the woodbine south of the big boulders, so you can spot that area from a distance. Ride the road east from the intersection by the trees on the coastline. Then headshot that bitch with your scoped rifle and high powered rounds when she comes out. If you’re close, she comes from nowhere and eats you. Set up early morning, She comes out more during the daytime.

crazycoffey 01-18-2019 06:40 AM

I rushed through the last three chapters right before online came out, in case it helped or something. But online dragged a little for me, so I restarted a game and I’m in chapter 3, doing ALL the side missions, I have almost all the legendary animals, and corresponding trinkets, all upgrades at camp, but I have to find the veteran missing a leg in the woods to get that special lure for the legendary fish

Upgrading the camp, getting trapper outfits and doing the challenges is still a pain.

You shot him twice. Has to be done in one shot with a rifle for a perfect skin, IIRC.

High Velocity is what I used, although I'm pretty sure normal ammo works. Just make absolutely sure you've got a headshot and don't shoot it with anything explosive.
