The Cards take Denzel Ward

SFChief is up.

Rain Man 02-28-2019 08:56 PM

Columbia picked off the #1 guy on my list. Denzel should be wearing a snow white uniform with beady little eyes on the front of the helmet.

Hammock Parties 02-28-2019 09:02 PM

Denzel ****ing Ward?

Well that's...weird.

You guys scare me sometimes. I had no clue who Denzel Ward was before the last 2 minutes.

Thanks for making me look dumb! This is what I meant when I said I like a guy (Ramsey) but felt there would be others who are a notch below his skill (Ward)

I hope Russell torches ya LMAO

JuJu and Ward were the two guys I was eyeing with that pick and knew it was too early for both of them.

Ward's just so damn fast and played with so much confidence despite all that shit swirling in Cleveland. That kind of athleticism with good ball skills, solid size and plus technique - he has every possible earmark of a stellar long-term cover guy.

But I knew it was way too early to take him at 30 so by pulling off that deal with you I managed to snag the two guys I targeted with 1 pick. So I'm obviously pleased with how that one worked out.

Oh I think it was a great deal for both of us. Honestly I'm really impressed with everything about this league so far. I did sim leagues growing up it was the most crooked shady shit. Trades were lopsided etc.

I will admit I watched Chiefs games only this year. Not a lot of time to watch tons of games like I used to.

I am sorry Billay.

Theres a free agency period right after the draft and if your team sucks year 1 you'll have high draft picks to compete. The beauty of this from an outsider's view is you can turn around a team in 1 or 2 years.

This will be awesome :) Just venting because I had the site up / this thread all day at work - and then boom, my time comes and I miss it. :P

This is going great

I’m a father of 3 in my 30s. Birthing classes are a joke. Let me know how it goes when your wife starts pushing and you tell her to start her breathing exercises. It all goes out the window. Tell her to get all the drugs and start pushing when she feels like she has to poop. And if ur a puss, then whatever you do, don’t look down there when it’s live action

once the baby is out and you hear the doctor or whoever say ok now push again. For the love of god do not look!

wheeler08 03-01-2019 08:29 AM

Well I really wanted Wagner to be the qb of my defense, but Kuechly is a nice consolation prize

wheeler08 03-01-2019 08:29 AM

Congrats to both of you dads to be though. First kid?

Rain Man 03-01-2019 09:00 AM

The Ermines continue to build a juggernaut offense by drafting LT Taylor Lewan.

DJ's left nut 03-01-2019 09:06 AM

Garrett, Ward and James as the long-term core of this defense is gonna be pretty damn nasty.

I mean it's possible that following the Jags model of team building was a poor choice, but hey, just because it hasn't worked in 20 years doesn't mean it can't work now, right?

Based on the Chiefs playoff games from 1971 through 2017, I would suggest getting a really good kicker.

Titty Meat 03-01-2019 09:33 AM

Anybody looking to move up to 78? Holler at me

TambaBerry 03-01-2019 09:50 AM

he is going to auto pick again lmao

TambaBerry 03-01-2019 10:23 AM

we have to sit through another hour even though he didnt pick just now? Come on!

Hammock Parties 03-01-2019 10:24 AM

We oughta move the time limit up. What's the point?

DJ's left nut 03-01-2019 10:27 AM

Has there been a single 'auto-pick' made? For that matter, has anyone hit the board mid-way through their pick that would've been screwed had it been a half hour?

Just about everyone has either made their pick within a few minutes of being on the board or it's simply sat there and spun free for an hour.

I mean c'mon - if you're within 3-4 spots of your pick, you really can't put 4 names on the board and select auto-pick if you think you won't be able to be there for the pick?

Eh, I guess it doesn't really matter since we have plenty of time to knock this out, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

Rain Man 03-01-2019 10:37 AM

Doing a little market research here, but do you think a half-hour is sufficient when we go commercial? A lot of you guys have some experience with the system, so I don't want to see new people get messed up.

I kind of wonder if we should just shut off every option but autopick, but make the autopick 15 minutes or something to give everyone time to shuffle their board between picks.

Eh, that seems like a bad idea when I write it. But I could see a half-hour clock being reasonable. That's still plenty of time to pull off trades.

wheeler08 03-01-2019 10:38 AM

But isn’t it fun to wait an hour to see him pick Minkah Fitzpatrick, then make fun of him for hours? Somethings in life are worth the wait

MagicHef 03-01-2019 10:38 AM

Half an hour is much more reasonable.

Can we change this draft to half an hour each starting immediately?

wheeler08 03-01-2019 10:38 AM

A half hour would make a world of difference

Half hour clock seems reasonable. It took Billay and me a little more time because we were dicking with the trade function and because we had a little more time to work with, but if needed we'd have pulled that off anyway.

I think a half hour between picks for the first few rounds and then even kicking it down to 15-20 minutes for everything after round 10(?) is sufficient.

But it ain't my circus...

Rain Man 03-01-2019 10:43 AM

I think it actually does automatically ratchet the time down as we get out of the first couple of rounds. I seem to remember cdcox mentioning that. But I would agree that we could start out with a smaller window. I'll suggest this in the next Sandbox board meeting.

Rain Man 03-01-2019 10:44 AM

There's three picks to me, and I've got two guys who keep alternating at the top of my draft board. I'm paralyzed by choice.

brorth 03-01-2019 10:52 AM

The problem, IMO, is the notification system just isn't reliable in it's current state. There's no way to anticipate a time frame for your pick, so you're tethered to a lap top or desktop for the entire day to make two picks. I'm sure picking in the middle of the draft order exaggerates that some, but I'll be honest, this has been a miserable user experience so far. (Again, I'm not bitching, just giving honest feedback.)

Did you try that 'text via email' thing someone posted earlier?

I haven't because I've put enough choices on my board that I can just keep an eye on it from my phone, but it seems like that option should work pretty well.

I am getting my notification emails so that's working. If your carrier supports that being an 'email via text' it would seem to solve your issue here.

I could never get that auto notify to work on my end, they had to do it for me. So changing it to a text isn’t an option for me

You'd need to do a little digging into how your particular carrier does it but it looks like if you have AT&T you'd be set and I gotta imagine all major wireless carriers are pretty similar.

MagicHef 03-01-2019 10:58 AM

I've been able to do almost everything from my phone, but it's a bit clunkier and takes a few more clicks. The one thing I can't seem to do at all on the phone is re-order my draft board. I have to remove and re-add players.

wheeler08 03-01-2019 10:58 AM

And when it comes to having a queue setup for faster picking. I’m out on the road coming and going from inside my truck and I only have a cell phone. I’m unable to move people up and down my queue from a cell phone

I’ve made all my picks so far. Haven’t used autodraft once.

I like the hour length too. Usually meetings don’t last over an hour so I can hurry back to my computer. 30 wouldn’t give me that option.

Yeah I couldn't tell if him being less flashy or more injury prone was what had him sliding.

Seemed like a hell of a WR to have still sitting around this late.

I had 3 guys targeted in my last cluster of 2 picks. Allen was one of them. In hindsight I probably should have done that instead of taking an all pro nickelback that I hope translates into the sim as a top end CB.

Sorry, dudes. I turned off auto-draft in the hopes that I’d be able to make my picks myself.

I mean, did we even ever discuss a draft time that was appropriate for everyone? When we set up a Madden draft for our franchise in the media center, we decided on a time that would work for everyone.

All four of my picks have come up at like 10:00 am on weekdays. I can’t ****ing do this shit during the week. We should have set up a nighttime or weekend event and just knocked out AT LEAST the first round or two before we went this route.
