It looks like Kevin Na has decided he is never going to win a major.

I always followed his career because he played in an AJGA event that I played in at Ironhorse in Leawood when we were kids. Of course I had no business really being there but he tore it up.

Hope he can be the king of that tour. He seems like a cool dude.

He's a professional golfer who plays golf to make money (and that is particularly all that he's after at this stage of his career). Seems like playing the biggest money events he can is the prudent choice on his part to me.

For Christmas, my Family got me tickets to the PGA Tournament in Tulsa next week. It's an easy trip from my home in Wichita. I've been to a Ryder Cup, Master's and a US Open, but never the PGA Champ - so I'm looking forward to it.

One of the all time chokes by Mito Pereira there on 18. JT or Zalatoris to win now.

Doubling 18 to lose on a slice drive like that isn’t Jean Van De Valde but it’s as bad as anything we’ve seen in a major in a long time.

He’d been underperforming in these majors for years since he won his first. Honestly didn’t play great this week either but he’s too good a golfer to only have one of these.

Prison Bitch 05-22-2022 06:07 PM

Lol, like there’s a bad way to win a major. Dude shot 32 on the back 9, 67 total.

He made the plays when everyone else choked.

It sounds like the PGA has a big issue.

PGA Tour suspends all players taking part in first LIV Golf tournament

Sergio Garcia*
Talor Gooch
Branden Grace*
Dustin Johnson*
Matt Jones
Martin Kaymer*
Graeme McDowell*
Phil Mickelson
Kevin Na*
Andy Ogletree
Louis Oosthuizen*
Turk Pettit*
Ian Poulter
Charl Schwartzel*
Hudson Swafford
Peter Uihlein
Lee Westwood*
* Informed the PGA Tour that they had resigned their membership

Good

KC_Connection 06-09-2022 09:36 AM

There will be a lot more players than just that playing these events soon enough. Is the PGA Tour going to suspend them all?

LIV doesn't appear to be going anywhere any time soon and the players will, by and large, follow the money. It's a profession after all.

I get that the PGA Tour wants to maintain its same standing its had for decades now, but that may not be reality anymore. Restricting many of the best players in the world from playing on your tour may not have the effect they hope it will.

scho63 06-17-2022 12:57 PM

Damn, I know the US Open has the toughest conditions but holy shit these greens are brutal.

Guys missing 2-4 ft putts all over the place.

Also pretty cool to see about 10-15 of the top 20 brand new names on tour.

It doesn't have to be. Most players do, though.

The rule was changed a few years ago. Before Covid.

PGA thought it would make the game more attractive to people. Less stuffy.

Covid also allowed many course to do a no touch pin.

Personally, I think it messes with the air. On slow putts, it can add pressure between the ball and the pin. Stopping the ball from going in. At least that is what happens when I play.

philfree 06-19-2022 05:21 PM

Good tournament but I really prefer Americans to win the US Open. Zalatoris with chances to win the last two majors but he couldn't pull it off. Before he cut his hair, he reminded me of me when I was young and skinny. I was prettier though.

Yea it would be an easy course to copy because its a barren wasteland, flat, and you dont have to water it

Gary Cooper 07-14-2022 01:44 PM

Not a fan of British courses outside of very few exceptions. These courses are too easy for modern golfers.

Also, they look like shiite on TV and don't even take advantage of the beautiful seaside. Too few British courses utilize holes along the coast like you'd have at Pebble Beach or Pacific Dunes. Yet all the British Open courses are along the coast. Total waste.

If I could play any course there, it would be Royal Dornoch or Turnberry Ailsa. Maybe even Carnoustie for the challenge. St. Andrews has four or five unique holes but the rest are pretty bland.

Homa misses a 50+ foot eagle on 18 by a couple inches.

ptlyon 07-14-2022 09:31 PM

Willie doesn't care about st. Andrew's because the equipment and the altheticism has overcome the game.

Back in the 50's - 70's they didn't have the clubs, balls, etc that they do now.

The course hasn't changed much, the equipment has. Booming drives 350 compared to back then. The hazards are still there tho. When they can drive over bunkers it makes a major difference.

Greens these days are made for said equipment and the ability to control the ball. Spin. The old days didn't.

So yes, st Andrew's isn't what it was back in the day, compared to what golf is now.

It's still historic and cherished to watch for me.

ptlyon 07-14-2022 09:34 PM

I will add, a driving rain and 30 mph wind that we aren't seeing that sometimes we do aren't a factor for this open.

Garcia Bronco 07-15-2022 03:22 PM

St. Andrews used to be 11 holes out and 11 holes back in and some of the holes shared a green. But originally it was 22 holes. It is one of the greatest golf courses on the planet. And it's a park on Sundays except during The Open.

If an unbiased person who had never heard of the history or any prestige brainwashed into them played say St Andrews and another links style course like Bandon Dunes. They would think Bandon Dunes is 20 times better. Just because something is old, doesn't make it better. Its a complete farce this shithole serves a major championship.

16 under in the 3rd round for a major?

So many guys -10 or less

Too easy

It's always been like this at St. Andrews with no wind. Like half the par 4s are drivable.

I wanna go play St Andrews just so I can hit 400 yard drives.

Tiger hit one 412 yards this week lol...and there is not much wind this week.....

Go Rory though. Hope he wins. He deserves more majors. Best player ever if you take out the putter thru wedge.

Shefflers got some funky ass footwork.

Let’s go Rory but I don’t think Hovlands going away.
