Yeah, they've both played some, Pringle for sure. I don't remember Robinson on much other than Punt Return. Which......never went well.

ToxSocks 05-26-2022 10:24 AM

Even with a strong camp i think he ends up as JuJu's backup, who will then eat into his snaps when JuJu underperforms and/or gets injured.

RunKC 05-26-2022 10:27 AM

I imagine Josh Williams and Jaylen Watson will both play ST’s. Chenab will definitely.

That’s pretty much your replacements right?

I think all the new secondary players, there should be bodies for ST.

I hope Leo gets a spot on a coverage team, at least for a few coverages.

He might dead somebody.

As a rookie, Tyreek started one game. One.

KC had nothing at WR other than Maclin, who somehow hit the brick wall at the ripe old age of 28. . So Hill got 83 targets, 61 completions. 9.7 y/r. So what does that tell us?

Hill had a package, that package grew as the season went on because let's face it, Hill is a physical freak and the fastest man in football-especially then. But 9.7 p/r tells us that's a lot of WR screens and stuff designed to get Hill the ball outside of the box.

let's not pretend that Hill was the Tyreek Hill of 2019 right out of the gate.

Should these kids have some production? Sure. They DO have vets in front of them that aren't bums, and so in that way, they don't have the advantage Hill had as a rookie. This team is in an entirely different place.

They'll have packages to begin with, and those packages will expand as the season goes on, and that I'm fairly certain of. Injuries to Juju, MVS, or Hardman would change that.

GloucesterChief 05-26-2022 10:44 AM

I could see Ross in a 'big' goal to go package where he can just post up on a smaller CB.

83 targets, 61 rec, 593 yards, 6 TDs.

That's Tyreek's rookie season rec stats. Frankly that's what I'm also judging JuJu and MVS by too. The question in my mind is how many of our WRs amass that?

I would think the expectations would be:
- Kelce and Hardman to produce similar to LY
- MVS to be a YOY wash with Pringle
- CEH/Jones to be a YOY wash with Total RB
- JuJu to produce to estimated production

2021 (rec yards/rec TD)
- Hill 1239/9
- Kelce 1125/9
- Hardman 693/2
- Pringle 568/5
- D Will 452/2
- D Rob 264/3
- A/O 450/7
- Team 4791/37

2022
- JuJu 1000/7
- Kelce 1125/9
- Hardman 693/2
- MVS 568/5
- CEH/Jones 452/2
- A/O 264/3
- Moore 450/7
- Team 4552/35

the whole question is- Can he stay healthy.

For all of his great plays, Hill really had some awful drops last year.

Kiimo 05-26-2022 02:39 PM

I hate seeing all these incredible Mahomes highlights on the scrap heap because the ball bounces off our receivers' hands.

Skyy Moore can get as open as Hill was right there. Just catch it! With your hands!

RaidersOftheCellar 05-26-2022 02:44 PM

Hill was a borderline saboteur last year. How many times did he drop an easy catch or bobble the ball right into the DB's hands? Including the play that cost them the game in the AFCC.

JPH83 05-26-2022 03:04 PM

I'm getting more optimistic about our WRs and I'm getting unreasonably optimistic about Ross...but we're going to have to stop this whole downplaying of Hill's value. It's silly.

I honestly thought Hill lost a step last season. And I thought that well before he was no longer a Chief. (he's still stupid fast)

Coupled with his numerous drops and seemingly ongoing relationship issues, it didn't break my heart to see him move on for the kind of coin he got.

Fair enough, I mean it wasn't his best year no doubt. The drops were bad but the speed looked all there to me. That Buffalo game...

But either way, yes, the money made it hard to not move on.

Shit, there are a whole bunch of dudes I figured were still around.

Like Darrell for example. I had assumed he was coming back, or even that he was still under contract, but then he signs this other deal. And now Fortson wasn't under contract and might not have been returning to the team.

That would have been kind of disappointing. I'd like to see him conquer that injury and really make it in this league.

I’m not so sure that he is a first round talent- his combine numbers were pretty bad (ran a 4.63). He has five (maybe 6) receiving options in front of him. He may be a decent player but it will likely be a couple years.

He ran on a still less than 100% foot. If you actually look into some of the facts and film on this kid, you'll see that he was a sure-fire top pick before having spinal surgery (****ing yikes!) and then played last year on a broken foot.

His injury history is truly terrifying.

BUT-go look at the kid when he was Trevor Lawrence's #1 ahead of a bunch of receivers now in the NFL as a freshman.

Is that talent still there? Only if he's actually healthy and can stay that way.

Big IF.

but IF he is, he's special.

Hardman, Juju, MVS, Moore, and then Ross if healthy. If he's healthy, he's in a different talent league than any of the rest.

Noah Gray played really well toward the end of the season and into the playoffs. His percentage of total snaps was in the 1/5 to 1/4 as the season wore on. That's not bad at all for a rookie TE2 behind Kelce.

I cussed at him more than a few times last year.

Reek' got complacent with his fundamentals. Generally it worked out, great player. It always catches up in the end. Teams picked up on the fact he body catches and began to get a hand in there if it was a bang-bang play. Other times it just bounced off of him. With that said, it was brutal watching him leave.

Rod Smith. 1602 in 2000

First undrafted player to reach 10,000 receiving yards, and the 24th in history to eclipse that figure.
Has the most receiving yards (11,389) and touchdown receptions (68) of any undrafted player in NFL history.
Ranks second on the most receptions (849) by any undrafted player in NFL history, behind Wes Welker.

Rod Smith had 152 and 237 yards in his first two seasons before breaking out for 1180 in year 3. His 1602 came in his 6th NFL season. It's not that it isn't good because it is. It just shows a cautionary tale to temper expectations the first couple of seasons. Now, Ross was expected to be much more than a UDFA if it weren't for the injuries and his neck issue. Still, I'm not expecting a 1000-yard season from any rookie.

not with three veterans in front of him, no.

I don’t expect a bunch of production from Ross this year unless Smith-Schuster or Valdes-Scantling gets hurt. They’ll have some packages for him. I think it’s a more reserve role this year and a bigger impact next.

That said… if Ross continues to show he deserves PT, and the Chiefs went to some 5-wide sets (Kelce, Valdes-Scantling, Smith-Schustee, Hardman, Ross) I wouldn’t be surprised. That’s a tough combination of size, speed, vertical threat, horizontal threat, and a threat in the middle of the field.

Holy shit, Sorter! Sorter?! Sorter is back!

Also, Victor Cruz went over 1500 yards in his first season seeing action with the Giants. Again - first season he did bupkus.

This is why Justyn Ross is actually in a spectacular place. You can ease him in. He's icing. Million dollar icing.

Get him specific packages, let him acclimate to NFL speed. Then you'll have a better idea what kind of player you got going into next year when it's just MVS and Moore on the roster.

It's strange to me how Chiefs fans latch on to some long shot and actively dislike guys who were drafted but werent the guy they wante at that spot.

I think Moore and Ross are both going to be really good for KC. Excitement about both is warranted.

I can't believe I missed Moore in my post from earlier this morning. Was walking the dog.

Lot of good stuff about the WR core from Mahomes in this video. Nearly every question was centered on the WR's.

If Q? Don't care.

O.city 05-27-2022 08:42 AM

I don't think he needs much time to get "used to NFL speed" he played at Clemson. That's about as close to NFL speed as you can get.

Moore maybe will need some time though.

On the one hand I hear you but this isn't Fountain this is a guy who roasted SEC defenders as a true freshman. I think it's a much different situation than normal

O.city 05-27-2022 08:47 AM

Is it possible the whole league messed up that badly letting the guy fall out of the draft etc?

It wouldn't be the first, second or 50th time

They had two layers of physicians from the Chiefs and KU Med clear his foot and spine. I wonder how many other teams went through that whole process?
