I wonder Veech sees Jones as an important test case to show we're going to be the new Patriots. IE - draft picks need to know that if you want a giant second contract, after coming in as a draftee or vet, it's going to be elsewhere. If you're willing to stay on a perennial super bowl contender with a great coach on a team-friendly deal (like Watkins and Breeland just did), we're glad to have you.
If he blinks on Jones then it will be harder to sell that story in the future. But if we really hold the line and either Jones blinks, or he moves on - then rookies will know what to expect. Maybe, how knows. But if so then it would mean this is more than just about Jones. |

Keeping Jones on the tag is risky. If he plays on it, he probably will sit on any strain or sprain... |

He's live on Instagram right now.
Not much to report at this time. Just saying he's chilling in Miami, said at one point that he'll "love Chiefs Kingdom for life." Please don't read into that -- I promise there was nothing in him saying it, didn't say it as a farewell or as anything. |
Juan messaged in the livestream saying what's up.
Jones declares he'll be a Top 3 safety in the NFL in two years. "He get to learn from Tyrann, that's a plus." |
Makes a comment about "all this contract talk, man," you gotta appreciate this moment here, he says.
"We're Super Bowl champions, man. Took us years to get there. I deliver on all my promises." Edit: That's all there is to report. He said like 100 things in the videos, mostly just shooting the shit about the music. He did say he wanted to shoot for 24 sacks in a season, but again, it did not come off like anything other than a dude just casually sitting in a chair might say, so do not read into that. |

What draft picks have they paid a blockbuster market-value second contract to other than Brady? |

Ok fine. Can we say the Pats are known for being shrewd and not overpaying, and at least some of the time letting star players walk?
My point wasn't really about the Pats. It was about if for Veech, is this going to set the tone for if the Chiefs are willing to let a star player walk if they think his money demands are too high? IE - maybe something we should have thought about with Hali, Houston, Berry, Bowe, LJ, etc. Although I think the complaint with Berry and Houston is more the length and structure and waiting too long. |

Jones just said God thank you on Twitter and has liked someone’s post saying New contract vibes with the eye emojis also he liked another comment where someone said where we lock up our QB for 12 years and the best DL for 3 or 4 years. There is definitely smoke here!!

All of us have a power leg and a quick leg. It's easiest to find either watching someone do layups or letting them fall and catch themselves when you tell them to fall and you'll catch them. If they routinely jump off the left leg when doing layups, that's their power leg, and the other is their quick-step/coordinated leg. If you let someone fall towards you, telling them you'll catch their fall, but then just let them "fall," they'll naturally stop their own fall by quickly putting out their quick-step leg to stop it. This is used often in track and field to determine which foot to set forward in starting blocks (the power leg) and which to set back. The same premise applies in football. If you have someone with a left-dominant power leg, they "should" play the right side of the offensive line, and vice versa. This allows them to more quickly make movements to the side of the line they are playing. Particularly, players now use the "drive and catch" method and not the old-school "bucket step." While the power vs quick leg matters in either case, it matters more in the drive and catch because you're no longer just turning on a pivot and stepping in a bucket, you're using your power leg to readjust your hips to create an advantageous angle quickly. |
Don't know if this fits here or not, but interesting.

Both more likely options than CJ at this point. I think Chiefs and CJ will have an extension done by Tuesday. Not sure it’s the smartest move long-term, but definitely keeps us stronger in the middle and makes our defense a lot more formidable on passing downs. |

I don't think it's Jones either. But with the ties between the Eagles and Chiefs right now... and when you add in Baldinger having his ties to the Chiefs, it caused me to pause for a second. |
So no deal yet? Nothing but BS speculation

I keep clicking on this thread because I am some kind of masochist who needs help...

I keep clicking on this thread hoping someone forgot to post the new "Chiefs sign Chris Jones to 5 year extension" thread and everyone is just talking about it in here.
So far I'm swinging and missing. |

He's staying consistent with the twitter activity. It's not nothing, might be something.
Check out his "likes" again. Just liked this one: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Defending the ring</p>— Randy Burns (@RandyBu53152136) <a href="https://twitter.com/RandyBu53152136/status/1282648075975176197?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 13, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

I mean, you're logged in on a Monday morning. Is it really that difficult to understand? |

It does make me wonder how much playing basketball growing up can help an offensive lineman be more versatile. Have to be able to jump high off both leg (singly) and also be quick in both directions to be a high-level hoops player. Wouldn't do away with the dominant leg/quick leg, but would train each to be better at their weaker trait over time. |

Remember this spring? Chris Jones had tweeted something and the twittvestigators were positive it meant he was 100% gone.
|
Jones is currently in Miami per his Twitter. Can’t sign long term if you ain’t in KC :(
