Why angle for a play where your team -where any team- is facing an 80%+ chance of failure?

I guess it's a thing, because he did the exact same shit in the SB vs NE.

I know this goes back to Andy, but WTF was Albert Wilson thinking when he caught the ball at the 4 yard line and stayed in bounds with 2:54 left?

Yes that's on Andy, but I think more of it is on Wilson. It's the 2 min drill. Ever since high school you should know that you get out of bounds in that situation.

Just an awful **** up there

He caught the ball at the 5, turned and tried to score. I don't think it was an atrocious mistake. He came up about a foot short.

Huh? He almost scored and got it inches away. It isn't guaranteed you are going to score running out at the five. Not his fault Smith and Reid looked like the baby failing trying to kick the football gif. If he ran out every one here would have called him a moron.

The AFC Coach of the Year, Andy Reid, made history with the Kansas City Chiefs by becoming the first coach in NFL history to bounce back from a 1-5 start to end the season on a 10-game winning streak and qualify for the playoffs. Behind strong leadership, Reid rallied the team to win their next 10 games—the longest winning streak in franchise history—and earn a spot in the AFC playoffs. That is amazing, and well worth a tip of the cap, national recognition, and a firm pat on the back too. But with how he handled/lead the management of that potential 12th win in that winning streak, and the in-game handling of at least a couple of the losses before the streak started, can't be ignored either.

So he should celebrate this recognition, as should the team, but there's some fixing to do, and I hope the moves we've seen this last week result in those changes actually happening. IOW, in-game decisions don't wait on him to over-think things, or anybody else he's supposedly handed the wheel to for that matter. If the changes are genuine I'll be very happy and hopeful for next year.

Blah blah blah, one week later we can't score a single TD against Houston...

AR is a good HC he he is just a horrible game manager.

He needs to turn play calling to the OC so he focus on the entire game.

Red Dawg 09-25-2016 05:48 PM

Fact is he is an idiot. Smith is a chicken shit that can't score. Every QB in the league scores more often than him. Rookies are making Smith look pathetic.

You're not familiar with Chilly, are you?

mcaj22 09-25-2016 06:05 PM

Some of those plays called in the red zone were some of the worst designed trickery crap I have ever seen.

I'm not sure why Andy tries to get real cute when he hits the 20 yard line. Why doesn't he just keep doing what works? It's like he gets in close and completely craps himself.

Andy "Screen Play" Reid and his horizontal passing game are to blame.

When Harbaugh was Smith's HC, Smith outgunned Drew Brees in the playoffs.

Reid says Smith runs the offense "to perfection."

Smith is literally an onfield extension of his HC*

*I base this off of Reid and Harbaugh only; Reid, while not a good NFL head coach, actually does have merit as a head coach...whereas Mikes Nolan and Singletary are not even able to be considered actual NFL HCs.

Without Jim Johnson as DC, Reid hasn't done squat.

Maybe if he gave up playcalling, he would be better in actual game management, it's possible.

But since we have seen no inclination of him giving up playcalling, all that is conjecture and his game management remains suspect, and during the games that truly matter, his teams seem to always be unprepared or get out coached in game management.

Ryan Fitzcassel is a shitty QB. With what, 7 turnovers?

We should've scored in the 30s today, bare minimum.

The Jets defense is good, we got lucky today. Don't get it twisted.

It's hard to swallow, but I have to admit, the Broncos have a more explosive, exciting, and productive offense than the Chiefs. And all of that with basically a rookie playing Qb? The play calling of our coach and the ability of our QB, both have to share the blame. So sad.

This sounds familiar:

Collectively, the Eagles were shaking their heads following Super Bowl XXXIX. It didn't make much sense to them.

Donovan McNabb throws for 357 yards and three touchdowns. Terrell Owens makes a miracle comeback from ankle surgery in less than seven weeks and catches nine passes for 122 yards. Jim Johnson's blitzing schemes caused Tom Brady to be slightly off his game, getting sacked twice and uncharacteristically being off on most of his 10 incompletions. But the Patriots won 24-21.

The loss was baffling to the Eagles. Critics wondered about the lack of urgency during the Eagles' fourth-quarter touchdown drive that resulted in a 30-yard touchdown pass to Greg Lewis with 1:55 left. Down by 10 points with 5:40 left in regulation, McNabb and the Eagles didn't go into a no-huddle offense. The Eagles ate up too much clock on that 13-play, 79-yard touchdown drive.

"I don't know what happened," Eagles tight end L.J. Smith said.

The Eagles were unable to explain their clock management at the end of the game.

I think the players love him and play their ass off for him.

So they were playing their asses off for him against the Texans?

The effort was there, but their heads were planted up their ass.

Do we know who exactly is calling the plays?

Andy Reid is not a bad footbal coach. He is, however, a very CAREFUL football coach. Nothing is done without intense scrutiny and analyses. So, I'd offer that we're not going to be seeing things on the field that are spontaneous. Everything's going to be well thought out and carefully orchestrated. And, Reid has the perfect QB for this attitude in Aex Smith. Nothing like a double-dose of CAREFUL to yield a rather boring product.

That said, such carefulness isn't all bad as over time, this generally results in success. Nonetheless, if spontenaeity is ever a good thing to have on the football field, well, under Reid, we won't have it.

To wit, did you see Reid thinking about going for it (or not) on that 4th and one today? You could just see the gears grinding. To suggest that he was decisive about it would be incorrect. Think that carries over to his guys on the field? I do. Little spiz and way too much furrowing of brow. C'mon Andy, get outa that shell every now and then and let er rip!!!
