I never said it won't get done. It will absolutely get done eventually.

But to trade for Jones, it has to be done SOON. It isn't happening soon. So it's not an option when it comes to freeing up space for Jones.

Negotiations are ongoing. Reportedly the two sides are "far apart" on terms.

So again, how are you going to get Julio Jones when you don't have the cap space?

PFT is reporting that the Falcons were offered a 2nd prior to the draft but held out for a 1st. Now they can't find a team willing to give them a 2nd.

Exactly.

Nothing is imminent. To trade for Jones, you need to do something now. Matthieu's extension isn't happening now, so it's not an option when it comes to freeing up space.

ATL is in cap hell from what I have read. So most teams are going to wait to see if they just cut him.

And the Chris Jones contract looked like it wouldn't get done even the day before it actually got done. If the Veach really wants Julio and they have a trade structure agreed to, he'll figure out how to make the Mathieu extension work. He'll give in a little to some of Mathieus demands and play less hardball to get it done.
