How can we not afford to keep him for one year? We are not over the cap limit even with rookie allocations.

I love Sneed and he’s been tremendous for us but let’s get real - his best season came opposite McDuffie. Sneed is far more replaceable than Chris Jones, who comes around once or twice a decade. Veach had all this figured out long before CP started debating it.

You think the Chiefs are done in FA? I don’t. And they’ll need every penny to add a few more names and sign the draft class. One of the hardest things to be consistently good at as a GM is the timing of when you trade a guy like Sneed. Veach is ripping the bandaid off this year knowing we’ve got other good young corners and we’ll re load in the draft.

Oh, and he knows what’s coming next year with our guys.

Yeah, if he plays on the tag and that knee concern is real, then his value is down. Way down.

He could also just have a bad season.

He could be making a really bad decision.

He’s had some concussions as well. Not worth the risk to play on the tag for a guy who has made chump change in his career.

That's Chris "Lockdown" Lammons to you, sir.

Sneed is a Colt.

MahomesMagic 03-16-2024 02:56 PM

Why do they need Sneed when they already have Lockdown Lammons?

He's talking about ST's. He's locking down the punt returner.

Just be happy the tweets he’s embedding actually have something to do with the thread he’s posting them in.

Baby steps.

Yeah, I’m not sure why anyone would post a tweet that is more than 30 mins old. We’ve got people that are getting tweets on here within a couple of mins.

Problem is Sneed asking for way too much money and deterring teams from being able to make the trade regardless of the trade compensation

I don’t think we will be signing any other starter caliber player in FA.

We have 7 draft picks and only are really missing a starter at LT and depth at RB and OT. Why would we sell out to get $19.8M in space at this point of FA?

Future years aren’t relevant since Sneed would just walk or be tagged and traded at the end of the year. The cap limit is also probably going to raise by another $15m+ in 2025.

I know he’s publicly said he’d play on the tag but I’d speculate the scenario where we trade him for a 3rd doesn’t have as much to do with immediate cap space as it does his agent pushing against him playing on a tag behind the scenes. I am hoping he ends up staying and playing on it.
